I got on a Carole Lombard kick some years ago and just fell in love. She saunters and careens through chaos with a twinkle and a grin and a couple of bruised shoulders. She was just perfect for her time, and I will forever long to see how she would have adapted beyond it.
There's never been anyone like Carole Lombard and there never will be! She was absolutely AMAZING! She did things in comedy 80+ years ago which seem modern and fresh even today!
Such a shame that she dies so very young... I can't help but think of how many more wonderful performances she would have given us in the years to follow.

First of all, so-called "Carole Lombard " was not her real name? I think it's a disgrace and shows complete disrespect of one's heritage to change their birth name, unless when a woman gets married. If a woman gets married and DOESN'T change her last name, that shows no respect to her husband. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the name "Jane Alice Peters" The change was probably made as a result of a greedy Business Manager and or Studio, with respect to perceived anticipation of greater recognition and subsequent monetary gain?! Ok

So many actors and actresses were required to change their name by the studios - the list is too long to recount here .
Instead I recommend you getting a copy of Halliwells 'Who's who in the Movies' and making a comprehensive listing, before you condem each and every professional who had to toe the line to get anywhere in the industry.
