I got my parked car clamped 😢 in that area above the tunnel. Anyways.. the traffic has improved this year.. no more traffic anywhere except entry points to SRP..
I’m sorry to hear that. I also saw countless motorcycle riders flagged down by enforcers. But yup, the traffic seems to be better this year! I’m sure that year after year, they’ll keep on improving the festival, especially in this new location.

Catholics during the Sinulog Festival simply give thanks and praise to the Santo Niño because this marks the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines. Devotees dance and shout "Pit Senyor," which means "call, ask, or supplicate the King!" This is NOT WORSHIP, it is just respectful reverence. Even King David, in 2 Samuel 6:16, danced in front of the Ark of the Covenant during the procession. "Holy Child" or "Santo Niño" is biblical and is found in Acts 4:30 KJV and Luke 1:35 (New American Standard Bible) or Luke 1:35 (The Bible of the Americas) Spanish Bible.
I like our incumbent city mayor.. Rama and his team.. He plans well.. and Cebu has many improvements.. He's for the good of the Cebuano people.. he opened srp left turn when the other mayor closed it before because he is mad at some investment issues. unlike the city mayor before who is mad at business investors hindering their developments.

Hi! Pag sa capitol malapit kayo sa church and other tourist spots pero malayo sa SRP (kung saan yung parade). Pag sa SRP area naman, wala masyado hotels except sa NUStar. Though madami Airbnb sa SRP area. Ang mahirap lang sa SRP coming from capitol is mahirap mag taxi so ang choice is mag habal-habal or maglakad. If you intend to tour around Cebu City, mag church, mag shopping, I suggest around the capitol (or sa Cebu Business Park or Cebu IT Park). But if for the parade only, then sa SRP kayo mag stay. So disappointed! The program leaflets stated the parade to start 9 a.m. We waited until 12 infront of NuStar hotel were we stayed then have our lunch. It started at around 1:00 pm so we did not see everything. What we saw were floats so many meters apart but the heat is too much to bear so we were not able to withstand it. I think the organizers should explain why this happened. Parade at 1:00 pm is so inappropriate. Imagine the participants in their costumes waiting as early as 8:30 a.m. Shame on the organizers of this year’s Sinulog!
Also, even if we were on bleachers we cannot see very well since people were allowed in the middle of the road ( island ). There are lots of police and soldier across NuStar Hotel but they did not do anything. We did not see the full view of the dancing performances only the top view and the back of all people standing in the island. They should have been considerate enough to stay on the other side of the road so everyone can see the performances. I’m surprised that all these happened considering that this festival has been going on for so many years now. A balikbayan from Las Vegas told me that Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo is more organized when they were there.
So sorry to hear about your experience. It is only the 2nd year that the festival is held in SRP, after many years of it being held in the city center to avoid the dangers of stampede, etc; Sinulog festival has been attracting more and more people every year, so they have to make adjustments and change the venue to a more open and spacious areas. I'm sure they will learn from their mistakes this year and show improvements next year. Also, there is no need to compare Sinulog festival and Dinagyang festival coz any tourist can schedule to watch them both. Sinulog happens on the 3rd Sunday of January, while Dinagyang happens on the 4th Sunday of January.
Until Cebu doesn’t rely on Leyte for power, crappy roads from north to south, giving driver ticket for crossing yellow light, red tape everywhere, etc I don’t think Cebu leaders worth spit.

my first time to attend Sinulog ,and its so fun..We walked from Colon St. to SRP Road. Cebuanos is so unbelievable. Under the scorching heat, we watched every dance on the street. with my headrest and face paint lol

I’m sorry to hear that. I also saw countless motorcycle riders flagged down by enforcers. But yup, the traffic seems to be better this year! I’m sure that year after year, they’ll keep on improving the festival, especially in this new location.

Catholics during the Sinulog Festival simply give thanks and praise to the Santo Niño because this marks the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines. Devotees dance and shout "Pit Senyor," which means "call, ask, or supplicate the King!" This is NOT WORSHIP, it is just respectful reverence. Even King David, in 2 Samuel 6:16, danced in front of the Ark of the Covenant during the procession. "Holy Child" or "Santo Niño" is biblical and is found in Acts 4:30 KJV and Luke 1:35 (New American Standard Bible) or Luke 1:35 (The Bible of the Americas) Spanish Bible.
I like our incumbent city mayor.. Rama and his team.. He plans well.. and Cebu has many improvements.. He's for the good of the Cebuano people.. he opened srp left turn when the other mayor closed it before because he is mad at some investment issues. unlike the city mayor before who is mad at business investors hindering their developments.

Hi! For Sinulog po, do you think it's okay na mag stay sa hotels near the Capitol?
Hi! Pag sa capitol malapit kayo sa church and other tourist spots pero malayo sa SRP (kung saan yung parade). Pag sa SRP area naman, wala masyado hotels except sa NUStar. Though madami Airbnb sa SRP area. Ang mahirap lang sa SRP coming from capitol is mahirap mag taxi so ang choice is mag habal-habal or maglakad.
If you intend to tour around Cebu City, mag church, mag shopping, I suggest around the capitol (or sa Cebu Business Park or Cebu IT Park). But if for the parade only, then sa SRP kayo mag stay.

So disappointed! The program leaflets stated the parade to start 9 a.m. We waited until 12 infront of NuStar hotel were we stayed then have our lunch. It started at around 1:00 pm so we did not see everything. What we saw were floats so many meters apart but the heat is too much to bear so we were not able to withstand it. I think the organizers should explain why this happened. Parade at 1:00 pm is so inappropriate. Imagine the participants in their costumes waiting as early as 8:30 a.m. Shame on the organizers of this year’s Sinulog!
Also, even if we were on bleachers we cannot see very well since people were allowed in the middle of the road ( island ). There are lots of police and soldier across NuStar Hotel but they did not do anything. We did not see the full view of the dancing performances only the top view and the back of all people standing in the island. They should have been considerate enough to stay on the other side of the road so everyone can see the performances. I’m surprised that all these happened considering that this festival has been going on for so many years now. A balikbayan from Las Vegas told me that Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo is more organized when they were there.
So sorry to hear about your experience. It is only the 2nd year that the festival is held in SRP, after many years of it being held in the city center to avoid the dangers of stampede, etc; Sinulog festival has been attracting more and more people every year, so they have to make adjustments and change the venue to a more open and spacious areas. I'm sure they will learn from their mistakes this year and show improvements next year. Also, there is no need to compare Sinulog festival and Dinagyang festival coz any tourist can schedule to watch them both. Sinulog happens on the 3rd Sunday of January, while Dinagyang happens on the 4th Sunday of January.

Until Cebu doesn’t rely on Leyte for power, crappy roads from north to south, giving driver ticket for crossing yellow light, red tape everywhere, etc I don’t think Cebu leaders worth spit.
