Erika Herrera that’s a really good question. Sounds like you had that innocence that people have when they’re younger but lose with age, when they’re exposed to the ways of this world. Please hold on to that child like faith! God bless!

Catholics that I knew won't even talk to me because I'm another Christian faith. So sure, talk to them if you can get past that 'steel' wall .

"Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Phil. 2:12).

He's talking to people who are already saved. The whole verse and the next verse says, "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." - Philippians 2:12-13 KJV
So, the Bible makes it clear: salvation is not by works: "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" - Titus 3:5 KJV
Salvation is only by God's grace through faith: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:8-10 KJV
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”-John 11.25-26 KJV
      Believest thou this?

You need to have salvation to work it out. Like you're working out your legs in the gym, you need to have legs first.

If a Roman Catholic will talk to you-sure go ahead and try to get through to people who won't listen even though their preachers are gay and their followers look the other way.

"You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works" (Jas. 2:22).

The Bible as a whole gives us the clear order of faith in Jesus Christ first, for salvation, then works, because you have been saved, not to be saved. Works after salvation should show others that you are consistent in your profession of faith in Christ. As the verse shows: "Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?" - James 2:22 KJV

Just FYI - Regarding Peter being married, this is how Jesuits 'defend' their position: In the History of the Roman Catholic Church, there was a time when married people were allowed to enter seminary and eventually become ordained. And Peter was already married by the time Jesus called him. However, people who were ordained as single people were prohibited from entering the "sacrament of matrimony". So single men ordained as priests were never allowed to marry since the "beginning of the Roman church". Eventually, they just stopped accepting married men into seminary.
It doesn't make sense, but just thought I'd share with you what they teach now regarding the history of celibacy among their ordained priests.

Married men are not called upon to be priests today. Explain that if you can....it is a sin to prohibit anyone to marry.

@@sandraallen1201 There are priests who are married in the Catholic Church. It is a discipline, not a doctrine. Not that I'm Catholic but thought I'd defend this point.

Have you guys ever read the Messianic prophecies in the FIRST Book of Enoch (the legit one that was written BEFORE Christ)? My goodness. There's no Christian alive today, even Christians who think the Book of Enoch is evil, that could read those prophecies and be mad at them. I don't think Enoch should be canon, but, Peter and Jude knew it well and quote it in the New Test. The Book of Giants is also mentioned in scripture a couple times.
The pseudepigrapha isn't all bad. One just has to really use discernment.
This is a wonderful sermon, btw. Yankee has really meant a lot to me.

It's not really about false gospel, false Christ, false church. It's about what church you belong to. Catholics basically ain't gonna talk to you until you come to their church-their building and or if they find out that you are catholic for a long time. They want to see that you are in their group!

There are some of them, some of them who don't follow the past few Popes since a council called "Vatican II." They only follow Vatican I. It's hard to talk to them too, but they are humbled somewhat because they know their system is in ruins (whether they fully admit it or not). I've been trying and trying to plant seeds and reach these people. I'll probably get the Latin word wrong, but they call themselves "Sedvecantists" or something like that.

You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.James 2:24

    • @bradholbrooks
      @bradholbrooks 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

The book of James is misunderstood. It is talking about consistency of faith and works: faith first (salvation through faith in Christ), then works (because you are saved and can understand God's Word through His Spirit to do good works). That is the consistency that the whole Bible teaches.
Romans Chapter 4 explains what James is talking about in James Chapter 2 concerning Abraham. James 2.23 makes it clear that by faith, and the resulting work, we see the scripture fulfilled: "And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God." - James 2:23 KJV Notice, "Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness." The verse before gives us the clear order: faith first (salvation), then works (shows consistency): "Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?" - James 2:22 KJV
Now we see how Romans Chapter 4 and Ephesians Chapter 2 makes sense, instead of seeming like a contradiction: "For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God." - Romans 4:2 KJV Why not before God? "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. - Ephesians 2:8-10 KJV
Works justify us before men, not God. Man cannot see our faith. God can see our faith, because He knows our heart. So, in order for others to see that we believe in Christ, our profession of faith must be consistent with the good works of God. These works are not for salvation (that would contradict the whole teaching of the Bible), but for a testimony to others. Does that make sense?

Not before God but before other men/people. James is written to already saved people, instructions not to sit on their behind because they're saved but get busy working. We're saved onto good works

Paul is the apostle to the gentiles. we are the gentiles. He wrote Romans to Philemon. The gospel is presented in 1 Cor. 15:1-4. Eph. 2:8-9 tells us we are saved by Grace thru Faith. Jesus died for our sins on the cross & He said "It is finished" He paid it all & there is nothing we can do to earn our salvation. He paid it all. Good works are done IN RESPONSE to our salvation. We are saved by Grace alone thru faith alone in Christ alone. Not faith in our good works. I am trusting in Christ alone for my salvation & I do good works bc He died for me. God bless you.
