If the pins are broken off, then unfortunately you’ll need to have some attach a new connector to the board. It shouldn’t cost more than $50 or $60 to do so. If they are just bent but still attached, then you can use a plastic spudger and gently work them back in line. If you do this then I don’t recommend disconnecting the cable again as it can easily rip the pins from the board.
I was able to get the gimbal error to go away by just unplugging and then plugging back in the camera connector on the flex cable. I'm able to make the camera tilt up and down again. I just did this so I'm not sure if the fix will be permanent though.
Thanks for the video. When I was unplugging gimbal cable from the processor board the black connector that holds the cable in place broke :( I removed it all but now there is nothing to hold the gimbal cable in place to the processor board. Do you have any suggestions?
The connector part on the board broke off? If so you’ll have to take it somewhere to have a new one soldered back on. It should cost too much. Maybe $50 or $60 at most.
Thank God, I encountered this video and brought me to this page. Kudos to Joe for helping us poor folks out. Helped me a lot. But now drone shows gimbal stuck/gimbal overload. I am out of ideas.

Hi, awesome video! My Mini2 fell from my hand and the 3in1 flex cable got ripped. I ordered a new cable and hopefully, I will replace it in a few days. I was just wondering, is there any chance to know that nothing happened to gimbal motors (there are no physical signs of damage to the gimbal whatsoever, hands of the gimbals and rubber are in perfect condition and the camera looks around when booting the drone)

The drone works fine, the only thing that's messed up is the camera, or the gimbal. And it actually works, it's just stuck, (when i hit the pole, i was going in reverse, so it didnt even hit the camera, or the gimbal), but when i turn it on, it only gets about half way thru the gimbal check, and it stops, i checked, i can still fly, but i cant control the camera, any help would really be appreciated. Thanks.
Hey joe, the gimbal and camera of my dji mini is not detected from few days and he blinking with the 4 colors. You think the gimbal is dead or only some connectors to check ?
great video, cheers from NZ, had a wee crash and the whole gimbal popped out, broke the 3in 1 ribbon cable (snapped where it clicks into bottom of gimbal) , have the drone stripped down after watching this, not paying 400$ + to send it away, i have a question my transmission cable (one with many tiny wires)...one wire (1 to be exact) has come off, do you think it's possible to try and micro solder it back on? or should i just replace that cable aswell ?every other wire is intact..just wire 1 has snapped , the 3 in 1 cable i think is possible..but that transmission cable and pulling the guts of the gimbal apart? i thought of buying a second hand gimble (200$) but apparently the drone won't accept it? mine is for a mini 2 however i'm assuming it's similar?
Hey thanks for watching man! It would require microsoldering to do it. But honestly I would boot up the drone after you fix the 3 in 1 cable. You may find it works just fine the way it is. If not try buy a new one off Amazon. Try fixing your old one. If you break the cable, just put the new one on 👍
@@JoeDoesStuff ahh cheers i thought of that also just replace the ribbon cable then see what errors it throws (if any) with the new ribbon cable , if not i'll order that ptz cable..just looks a PITA trying to get into that actual gimble housing..few more watches of this video should have it sussed haha, thanks again really good video
I’m having a problem installing the camera ribbon. Everything connects fine except the ribbon that connects to the camera. When it cones from the main ribbon to the camera the plug is upside down. At the end at the camera. Do I twist it and if so which direction clockwise or counterclockwise. That ribbon is the one that broke on mine so I know it breakers extremely easy. Also are you putting glue on the connector when re installing. Hot glue isn’t holding very well.
I didn't put glue on. If you look on the ribbon where it branches off into multiple locations, there's a while line. It's suppose to fold along that white line. I can't remember specifically which way unfortunately. But I think the white line should be on the outside of the fold.

Great video, Joe. Quick question, can the drone operate without the camera/gimbal connected or are there components/antennas within that set up required for the drone to operate? I disassembled and removed the camera and put the mini back together to see if it would operate without the camera. The drone turns on, the props twitch, but no connection to the remote. Thanks!
I’m not sure on this one. It possibly could work, but the drone goes thru a systems check before being operational. If the camera is required in that check then it wouldn’t.

Hey There Joe. Nice job. My mini 2 fell from the third floor of my building and messed everything up. Gimbal, Flat cable, round cable, the body shield, everything... I'm pretty sad man. I was wondering if i can buy only the drone, i couldn't find separately. Here in my country it is very expensive and i am crying to do so. I am a beginner... I was wondering about the camera cable, it has three connectors, two smalls and one bigger. I didn't see where you connected one of the smalls one. Can you tell me please?
I haven't opened a mini 2. But sounds like the camera hookups are different. Here in the US, you can buy the drone only but I'm not sure about your country. I would check ebay for the best deal. It's going to be kind of pricey still. You could also send it to DJI for repair. I'm not sure what their repair prices are, but with that many problems I would recommend using DJI to make sure theirs no residual issues.
Does anyone know how to fix the "Incompatible Gimbal Data Error" that comes up if you install a replacement gimbal? You get a great picture but no gimbal leveling or control.

Took it all apart as per your video, glued and resined the arm back together, waited a a day for drying and reassembled as per your video. All seemed to go well until I turned it on and reconnected it to the phone where a host of warnings came up that wre not previously there - sensors/camera/gimbal/GPS....basically everything I touched. I'm wondering if, once disconnected and reconnected, the system requires a reset or recalibration? I'm hoping this is the case....Cheers from Australia Mate. Matt

Hi Joe, Great video, hope it will be useful for me. I crashed my Mavic Mini yesterday and now the camera gimbal doesn't tilt anymore (scroll wheel action), it does oscillate rapidly. Do you suppose the cable has snapped or is a motor issue more likely?
@@JoeDoesStuff Tore the gimbal apart, a cable was the issue but not one of two you showed here ;). At the side of the camera you don't disassemble there is another quite short ribbon cable. The connector of this cable to the gimbal was the culprit for me, real easy fix once I found the issue 😬

Would you be interested in repairing a DJI mini 2? The drone shows two errors. Gimbal motor overload and gimbal stuck. Upon initial startup the gimbal motor seems to operate normally going through its initial startup procedures. After that it just throws the two errors there's no dust or debris the gimbal is not stuck or anything. I'm lost I've tried recalibrating and cleaning and I cannot get the gimbal to cooperate.

I have also noticed that the camera itself starts to get really hot, almost too hot to touch. Could you please give me some insight on what my issue may be? Thankyou.
Overheating like that is usually from water damage or a bad processor. But it can sometimes be a random issue. I would recommend checking the connections are correct. Maybe grab a second cable to make sure the first isn't faulty (if you order it on Amazon then you can return it). If it's neither of those then you might need to replace your camera. That can get expensive though, but you can sometimes find deals on them on Amazon or ebay.

Not sure what gimbal overload could be. Usually gimbal stuck (if it’s not actually stuck) is the transmission cable.

Smoke isn’t a good sign. Sound like the board is fried and needs to be replaced.
It sounds like the gimbal is ok. There's no real way to check besides trial and error. But if it's booting up and doing the look around thing, that's usually a good sign!
@@JoeDoesStuff hi joe mine does the look around boot sequence but the tiny baby ribbon cable on top with a qr code is split. Do i need to do everything in this video or just the part you replaced that ribbon
Just replace the ribbon cable that’s torn. You don’t need to replace the antenna cable if the remote can still connect.

Just crashed my Mini 2 se, rain into a telephone pole on sport mode, going as fast as i could, by accident of course. Thanks.
Is the ribbon the same for the Mini 1 and Mini 2?
Yes sir! They both use the same cable.
Do you use the same cable for the mini 2 or just for the mavic mini only?
Which cable?

Hey joe, the gimbal and camera of my dji mini is not detected from few days and he blinking with the 4 colors.
You think the gimbal is dead or only some connectors to check ?
Most likely the gimbal is fine. If you look up the blink code online DJI tells you what they mean. That might help determine the problem.
great video, cheers from NZ, had a wee crash and the whole gimbal popped out, broke the 3in 1 ribbon cable (snapped where it clicks into bottom of gimbal) , have the drone stripped down after watching this, not paying 400$ + to send it away, i have a question my transmission cable (one with many tiny wires)...one wire (1 to be exact) has come off, do you think it's possible to try and micro solder it back on? or should i just replace that cable aswell ?every other wire is intact..just wire 1 has snapped , the 3 in 1 cable i think is possible..but that transmission cable and pulling the guts of the gimbal apart? i thought of buying a second hand gimble (200$) but apparently the drone won't accept it? mine is for a mini 2 however i'm assuming it's similar?
Amigo boa noite. Minha câmera esta travando. Qual dos cabos que eu troco obrigado amigo sou do Brasil.abraços.
