I have a question. Spraying the insecticides, do you worry about earthworm population damage? Last study I read suggested that most earthworm species are highly susceptible to most insecticides. Curious as to your thoughts or trepidation.
How do you get rid of whiteflies aka leafhoppers!? I’ve already put down spectrazide concentrate via hose end & these annoying tiny flies do not go away off my lawn!

NO improvement. this week I tried calling the pro's to come see about the problem & apparently I can't get anyone who treats these annoying flies! i guess I'm stuck with them!!
Doc, the spreaders have different levels of dispersing the fertilizer by setting it at a certain # as to not lay too much or too little down. Is there a magic number to set it at for the different kinds of fertilizers or biochar being spread?

Put it out in May and will do so again soon as i am still seeing some mole tunnels in part of my yard. Any suggestions on mole control?
Yea, buy the Tomcat poison mole worms. Use gloves they don't like human scent use a driveway marker or something to poke holes in their tunnels and tear one worm in half and place in tunnel and cover up the hole. Also, use/try a grub curative in a granular application. Kills their food source.
Doc, I am in a new construction house that had hybrid Tif sod put down three months ago. We had an unusually cold spring for central OK and the sod just hasn't greened up yet. On average I have one very small patch of green Tif in every piece of sod. In the meantime, crabgrass, johnsongrass, course fescue, and various broadleaf weeds have moved in and taken over. When can I put down your recommended post-emergent? And if my bermuda still doesn't fully green up before fall, should I wait another full growing season for pre-emergent? We've had very heavy rains this week that has washed away the thatch layer on much of my sod, so I am worried about those new bare spots.
You really need to give the new sod a chance to establish without any "negatives". I always say ignore the weeds the first year on new sod and attack them the second.
For the last three weeks my lawn has been going downhill fast. Dead brown spots & it's looking thinner. It was looking almost perfect about a month ago. Pretty sure grubs are eating my roots. I've noticed birds have been flocking to my lawn lately. I bought the bio advanced grub killer and put it down last night. Hoping to turn this around quickly. It sucks to see all my effort and hard work be ruined by these things.
I've got grubs that turn into Japanese Beetles and start attacking my shrub roses. I just ordered Duocide and I'll put that down to hopefully kill the grubs in the lawn. Another thing I'm going to try is milky spore. You have to apply it 3 times a year ( spring, summer and fall) for 2 years BUT once it takes hold it is supposed to kill grubs in the lawn for 15 to 20 years. I think Ace Hardware is supposed to have it but I've got to check my local store or order online. I feel your pain about having a nice lawn and then the darn grubs start eating it. We had skunks ripping up our front (of course) lawn eating the grubs that we didn't know we had! Always something to keep one busy! Good luck on getting rid of the grubs. Fingers crossed!
superm funny you put this up today, i mowed yesterday afternoon and saw a shit ton of baby grasshoppers and immediately went to order more duocide. also you could have had a lot more fun with that hornet nest than you did.
Spray those hornets at night or in the evening Doc. They won't swarm after dark. I don't like that Spectracide. It doesn't seem to knock down wasps and things and instantly kill them like Black Flag. My dad always sprayed them in the evening and they won't swarm after dark
Good luck with the rabbits! They eat your gardens! My wife and I have to have our vegi garden fenced in because theyre so bad out here! They even eat baby trees

Does Duocide (Double Kill) work for spiders too? Those seem to be the only insect I've been battling this summer.

Triazicide applied for 2 consecutive days seems to knock the down quite a bit.

That's what I have. I tried Duocide and Biffin IT with no luck. I'll try the Triazicide
What works great on paper type nests is a garden hose and spray nozzle, spray water on it until its completely gone, they won't come back.

Tough call really... there are some more tolerant centipede grasses but Bermuda must have sun.
