It is stupid not to confirm an alleged cheating through any investigation but to immediately accept it as the truth. This causes you to lose everything you love. If you try to kill someone and don't check the weapon beforehand, everything can go wrong and that's what happened in the 2nd story.
In the 2nd story the things he mentioned doing to the gun make no sense to me. Should be easy to take firing pin out.
