After 15 years of obsession of the blues, SRV and virtually everything I heard sounding like Linken Park, I went and saw Guns-N-Roses in Boston last week. Total flashbacks to my early teen years got me reaching for something I thought wasn't there, until I heard Rival Sons. These freakin nail it. Hard Rock is not dead.
Nicholas Sawuk >> Myley is QUITE Bonham, but otherwise, spot on. I’m upset that I only just learned about them. And they’re from Long Beach, about 20 miles from me.
I just saw them two nights ago in KC opening up for Sabbath and Jay KICKED ASS!! His voice is SOOOO amazing! The Rival Sons sound like a mix of Bad Company meets Zeppelin meets the Doors. I'm a new fan! Great newish band!
I just discovered them a few weeks back. After finally deciding to break my self imposed music exile from anything 2000+ , I wanted to see if there was life after the 90s. The iTunes charts did not produce a single song I could identify with. Not into rap, hiphop, metal, techno (except B.Boys, prodigy etc. of course) I almost lost faith but I discovered Aussie band Violent Soho, Californian bands Liily and Rival Sons and even a Greek "stoner rock" band 1000mods. I'm just starting out on this brave expedition into today's rock scene but Rival Sons give me hope. Cheers from Oz.
Rival Sons is in a league of there own and is Electric and still going strong and I have mad respect for them and Jay could sing anything and make it sound like you are on a experience that you never knew. They are amazing!
He was really, really sick and a looooong tour behind them. The next show in Norwich he nearly collapsed on stage and they had to cancel. After that they have been on a brake for over three months before the next tour.
I'm really digging the bits of funk in this song. That clavinet breakdown is pretty funky. Then the drummer brings a nice beat in. The bass throughout is moving around a cool groove. Can someone suggest other songs they've done with hints or more of funk? Word
I can´t listen to this..I feel so bad for Jay. He gives a 100` even though he´s voice is in destroyed shape due to over-touring/illness. I´m getting phantom pain..
Very brave artist ...please guys checks your balances if you don't want to kill Jay's voice ...once it's keyboard an other time guitar and a hudge sound he's struggleling with ...let him the front space while he's singing and he'll get back his voice ...and musicians have fun with your amazing solos ...Once you have the good ingeneer you will be perfect band
Horrible for such a large crowd! Jay was trying to get them to sing along and nothing! I was in Pontiac Michigan with 250-400 people and that crowd blew this one away. But the Sons' were amazing as usual but dull crowd.
For your information the crowd did sing along the video didnt pick it up but I can tell you this it was bloody loud and not just this song others too, Dull crowd you weren't there so you wouldn't know, you cant beat Glasgow crowd
I was at the show this week(5/9/17) in Detroit at the Filmore and the crowd continued to sing the song for 5 minutes after the band had stopped playing. The smile and clapping by the band members while it went went on was priceless. I always thought Europeans appreciated good American rock and roll. Guess I was wrong.
I know wtf he is all over the place :( I was at the gig they had to call off in December. Hope he can get it together because on form there is no one better.

Er, that's what happens when you tour hard for the best part of a year. His voice cracks only noticeably at the start, because he pushed it. If you want pitch perfect vocals, you see the likes of Beyonce with their auto tuned vocals. Live music is imperfect, that's why its so good. I saw them in Newcastle and I could see the guy eas struggling, but if you want a soulless, technically perfect gig, try Dire Straits.
thomasinam I seriously don't see what you mean by the Dire Straits remark... Alchemy was a fantastic performance, every song on it is full of passion. Plenty of mistakes on it too.
Rival Sons is the Zeppelin of the 21st Century! Best rock n roll band to come out since GNR!!!!!
Yes, this is the true. The New Zepp
I agree

kevin p Moriarty >> I thought I was the only one that heard some SRV in Scott’s work, especially with the low tuning.
What is being witnessed with this band is pure legendary greatness

No better singer in the world my opinion
cowards in the crowd ...How can you refuse to sing when such an artist gave it all on stage even his vocal health ? ....

The Estonians beat everyone. Our front row was jumping up and down and dancing around like a bunch of crazy-ass motherf*ckers.

Damn Jay's vocals are getting worse :/
I know wtf he is all over the place :( I was at the gig they had to call off in December. Hope he can get it together because on form there is no one better.
hard touring will do that. hence
this big break theyve had from touring

Glad he's changed his style, that's not a good look
