The fact that he broke the 15k world record within a half marathon attempt will never not amaze me. He has the potential to be the greatest distance runner of all time, but only time will tell.

Honestly I think he has the potential to do everything from 3k to marathon in world record times
So let me get this straight, while running the world record half marathon, Kiplimo broke the 15k world record and ran the second fastest 10k in history?!
Fastest open road 10km but during a split that was not from the start with a dead stop. So it’s like saying the 100m world record is Usain Bolt’s 8.65 second anchor leg in the 4x100m. …but the 15km was from the start which is incredible!
I feel like Kiplimo was born to run on the roads, similarly to Gidey. He was my pick to win the track distance double in Tokyo, but came third and fifth and I came out of it feeling like a clown. But DAMN, was this world record real redemption. My mind is blown. A 26:37 split in the middle of a half marathon? What the actual hell.
Honestly this is kinda illustrating what i've always thought about kiplimo, he's really built for road racing. Last years valencia half marathon, he gets 2nd and runs #2 all time, and now he takes the world record, he won last years HM world championships. He gets the 15k and 2nd best 10k road times in the middle of his wr race. Now obviously his track accolades are amazing, top 5 all time in the 10k and a sub 12:50 5k. Just based off what im seeing I think he'll be most dominate in his late 20s-early 30s when he switches to road racing, he could probably challenge all of the road wr's and maybe even take on kipchoges marathon wr
You have a valid point here. The lad is pure class. I'm sad 😭 Cheptegei will have stiff competition from Kiplimo and I can see Kiplimo better Cheptegei
