I don’t know if you’ve already learned this, but an interesting and helpful tech you could use with Hwoarang is using his heat burst to end a combo then ki charging to have a guaranteed 50/50 with db4f or U4 both combo into RFS F+4,4

Remember this shit is like stocks. The slower the rise the healthier the stock. Nothing gained by a quick rise up the ranks if your skill is lacking anyways. Just look at Bushin as your new home until you make it forward

need some advice. Im new to tekken( since like tekken 3) and i picked up hwoarang bc i really liked him back then. Right now i really struggle with combos but thanks to his ability to spam i can get away with a lot. Would you recommend learning tekken basics such as movements and techs before going to combos or do I need those? (i feel like if i lose my turn im dead bc everyone got combos)
First thing you should be doing is learning how to pilot your character. What moves combo into what, what are his "good moves" (-12 or less frames on block, good whiff punish moves, what are his launchers, etc.), and how does Tekken 8 play in general. Simple place to start is just play the game against other people, and think about what you want to do before you do it. Don't mindlessly mash, mash with a purpose!

I got tekken king and t8 is my first tekken. Beyond these ranks you have to be a legacy player who knows all the match ups if you want g.o.d. real tekken begins here imo

You need to be quicker with the launch. Most characters have anywhere between a 13-15 frame launch, and on block they’ll be around 15 frames iirc.
Worst come to worst just go for a grab as it will be counted as a counter and do extra damage and they can’t break it.

why do u spend ur heat immediately?
It's a situational thing. I don't LIKE spending it immediately, but against certain players or in some situations I feel forced to. Whether it's to force a mixup to close out a round, because I need a comeback, or because I make a read on an opponent. I actually hate doing heat burst into immediate heatsmash, but it's something I do a lot because it's the only thing that beats heat burts and most people heat burst after you do. If there was more counterplay to Heat Burst I would do it less often, but there really isn't.

I watch you, K-wiss, Edge, Yeonarang, Rest + more. I watch my own fights (especially mirror matches) and other Hwo replays.
The git gud experience with Hwoarang for me isn't a good one rn and I don't see me pickin up another character.

I run back sets against characters I'm not super familiar with, but if you're Jin, Jun, Asuka, Victor, Bryan, Jack, Kazuya, Shaheen, Yoshimitsu or Reina I ain't gonna run the set. I got local friends who play them, I play 'em myself, or it's Victor who I can't seem to stop running into. I got probably a 80-ish hours fighting all these characters put together.
I got too much stuff to learn about Lili, Kuma, Steve, Eddy, Zafina, etc. to be wasting the little time I have to play Tekken 8 running sets against characters I already understand. I ain't out here tryna be knowledge diffed for a whole ass year 'cuz I only got 3 days outta the week and 2 hours out of those 3 days to play. Though with the lack of characters like Zafina online I feel like I'm just wasting my time and everyone else's time not just running every set.
Anyways, the problem isn't people not running the set, for people like me who just wanna learn it'll stop when I know enough to wanna run sets-- Which is knowing how to deal with 80% of the cast, the problem is this slow ass matchmaking. Takes no time at all to find matches in S++ and higher in GBFVSR, takes no time at all to find matches in Master in SF6. Dunno why I can slow cook a roast before the next match in blue or up ranks before I find another match when last I checked T8 has a much bigger playerbase than GBFVSR and SF6, and that's kind of a huge problem.
Edit: Also congrats on King, you been putting in the work, you deserve it!
