I know this is an old video but the information never ages. I picked my mini on Friday. I fiddled with aligning the driver's door and lubed up the window crank assembles. That's when I noticed the key for the boot doesn't work in the doors. I'll order a set of lock cores and replace them. I'm quite handy with most anything mechanical so it shouldn't be a problem. See the progress sure helps. TH-cam is so handy for seeking out information. 👍 From Seattle Washington US.
@@Xpp. I'm sure I could eventually figure it out. But this save me a lot of time 👍 Yes it will be helpful. Minis aren't very common here, especially in my neck of the woods. I've already been tinkering with it for a couple of days. That's the one thing about minis. Even with a good restoration, there's always something that needs doing. Cheers ✌️
Paul thanks for taking the time to document removing the door lock tumbler without the original key. Was wondering if you ever did a video on replacing the tumbler from a Mark II boot handle. My car has a combination of Mark III door handles and a Mark II boot handle. I'm assuming it's similar to remove the boot handle tumbler. Thanks again.

Thanks so much for this, followed it to the letter and now have a working lock again. I did make sure the other door was open before locking it for the first time, just in case it didn't unlock but all was good.
Super video Paul, breaks it down nice and easy but covers steps I would never have guessed at. Going to tackle this job on my N reg which we have owned since new but which has had different keys for doors and boot for years. The boot lock has stopped working which has forced the issue, going to do all three. Which begs the question, did you do a video for the boot lock or is it as simple as one imagines? I've got a feeling I will be answering that question myself tomorrow.
If my memory serves me correct the lock will only go in one way .... the drivers door handle the flat side of the key is upwards and the passenger door the cut side faces up 👍

Great how to video Paul can you buy the complete set doors boot and ignition barrel with all the same key's so one key fits all cheers Rob
The lock set only does doors and boot which does share the same key but the ignition key is much larger

Great video. Is there a right or wrong way that the barrel slides into the handle? Or can it go both ways if that makes any sense!
