    Thanks for a needed review.. Handyman-470 , pro heavy user -572. I was already to buy the Festool , was up to 8-900$ with all gadgets. Standard base doesnt bevel.They make some thick still blades that will fit Bosch as well. For my high end work the extra for the 572 is minor esp. compared to the Festool i almost got.
    After 45 years in the trades I have most brands of tools, each brand has their strong tool.No Festools for me yet. Almost bought their euro Swordsaw, precise chainsaw.
    No one is stocking the 572 locally. Home Depot order-$220.

      Have you looked at Mafell? It's $520 machine but people say it's blade doesn't deflect! It is certainly better than Festool, actually it supposedly be the best there is.

      The new blade guide is a significant improvement over the older design. I've been using an older Bosch jigsaw since 1997 which uses the same blade guide as the JS470. Without a doubt the new design is a miracle when comparing to the older model which still makes perfectly fine cuts. But when a feature is improved so drarically in a positive way, it's worth taking note. The extra power of the new motor is also invaluable. You can pay 3X more for a Festoon but the Bosch models are 98% as good save for a few minor details that would only be appreciated if used for several hours per day. For price vs performance Bosch has the competition held at arms length.

  • @drouleau

    With the blade deflection being basically the same, there's really no reason to get the newer model unless you need/want LED lights - glad I just ordered the 470EB on sale

  • @tmise50
    @tmise50 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I’m not going to be using it in the dark so don’t need the headlights. Being how the 470 is heavier, should make it easier to guide. My 470 should be here tomorrow!

    The only thing you didn't say Radek is was it worth the extra money for the newer model. I'm having this dilemma currently, I bought the older model but am reconsidering my decision.

    • @RadeksWorkshop
      @RadeksWorkshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The answer is not that straight forward. Really depends on how often do you use jigsaws and for what tasks, are you a pro or weekend warrior etc. I can just tell you that despite that advanced guiding system, new model does not guarantee absolutely vertical cut. My blade still deflects.

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Get the new model. It's worth it. The D handle version has been dipping down to $169 on Amazon. I just bought one and after owning the barrel grip Bosch for several months now and it's a steal at that price.

  • @CaseAgainstFaith1
    @CaseAgainstFaith1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I saw on some Festool user forums that a lot of Festool users actually prefer the Bosch JS572EB over Festool jigsaws! Now, Festool users are used to spending tons of money on tools, so, they didn't even mention the 470. Some other users mentioned the Mafell P1cc jigsaw. It is like 2 or 3 times the price of a 572, but, a rather amazing device. Check it out.

    • @RadeksWorkshop
      @RadeksWorkshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't buy Festool as I believe it is similar quality tool than Bosch but costs more. However I am very intrigued by Mafell. Would love to try it, but price is rather prohibitive.

      Radek's Workshop Well at the moment I just have a cheap Ryobi. I was thinking about upgrading and was looking at Bosch which is how I found your video. I actually do have one Festool tool. But that is it. I will probably get the 572.

  • @MrTeff999
    @MrTeff999 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Good review. But the video ended suddenly without a conclusion. Clearly, the newer saw is improved, but is it worth an extra $99? That question was not answered.

    • @RadeksWorkshop
      @RadeksWorkshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There is no easy and universal answer. For some people it would be for others not. Year passed since this review and I can tell by now, for me, personally it is not worth it.

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have the newer model and I feel the blade guide ALONE is worth the extra $$. The more powerful motor makes the newer model an even better value. Right now there is a $67 difference between the 2 models. $153 vs $220. The D handle version drops down to $169 on Amazon. Its been fluctuating in price between $169 and $192 for a feq days now. It looks like the price is lowered around midnight and is raised back up around 8 am. When the price will stabilize is anyone's fuess. I just ordered the D handle version so having both models will come in handy for different types of cuts.

  • @haarnoz
    @haarnoz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video! Thanks for the detailed comparison.
    I do have a question though. At the end of the video, you say that the deflection is about 5mm.
    Did you mean that your cut was 5mm away from the line you wanted to cut
    or that when making the cuts, the blade was deflected/pushed - making the cut not perpendicular/square?

    Jigsaw is my entry level skill point. Still learning.

    • @RadeksWorkshop
      @RadeksWorkshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As with everything, you gotta learn how to use it. Jigsaws are very versatile tools, I can imagine pretty much everything could be done with it (maybe except for resawing)

  • @CreativeCadaver13
    @CreativeCadaver13 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you. Interesting that blade deflection in your test cuts was equivalent between models, despite the newer model having dual blade guides. Reduced weight and barrel circumference suggest newer model would be better suited to extended use - have you had an opportunity to compare these aspects?

    • @RadeksWorkshop
      @RadeksWorkshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I ended up returning the older model. I don't abuse jigsaws. They get used an average every second day for few minutes so it's hard to talk about extend use but the jigsaw still works like new.

    Does the bigger range in the variable speed make a difference?

    • @RadeksWorkshop
      @RadeksWorkshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      it is 500-3100 SPM vs 800-3000 SPM so the biggest difference is at slow speeds, which aren't used that often. If you usually use it for metal or very intricate shapes slow speeds are useful, for most woodworking jobs high speeds are better.
