My best advice- Buy what you love! It may take a while to figure out your own style and what you want to collect. Unless you are just looking to copy everyone else's "style", you just should buy what you can afford and what makes you happy. I am in my 60's and I still love to thrift shop!! My taste is so eclectic, from age old antiques(my husband's favorite) to mid-century modern (my favorite), but I make it work. I found a stair basket like the one you scanned by. I use it on my front porch for potted plants on my step. It won't last forever, but it wasn't a lot of money so it's ok.
Finding lamps at thrift stores has been the way to go for me. My favorite I found is a vintage brass one. I also prefer lamplight to overhead lighting.
Hi Valerie 👋 My fav. Find from thrifting is my Pottery Barn vessel . It is the really large one with the ruffle look. It was $20 but 1/2 off ! Most of my fav. Decor is the thrifted pieces ! I loved when you did that bedroom makeover that headboard is gorgeous! Thanks for taking us along ❤

I'm looking for new lamps and want to thrift them. It's probably they won't match and I'll have to paint or dying. Is it okay if they are on either side of the couch but are different in shapes or heights?

I do as well!! Natural light during the day and lamps after 5! 😄😍
