From Reddit “As with Psylla, Exxus is a genus of an insect, but this time an earthworm. Earthworms dig deep into the ground like we do to bury our dead, which is what the song is about. Earthworms also decompose the dead, and the word sounds oddly familiar to the word exit, but like with all B.Z. songs, we will probably never find out exactly what the word Exxus was actually intended to mean. The narrator of the song is death itself, the song portraying death as a character. He is taunting someone the entire song with lines like, "I can see you running," but never letting them forget that they can be, "Gone in the blink of (his) eye." There are also lines alluding to the character of death, like "You wake up with a hatched over your head," referring to the common presence of a scythe when death is portrayed as a character. Other visuals they add are ravens and rats, more common things to think of when you try to visualize death as a character. For the music video, they had stop-motion artist Rafael Bonilla Jr. make a stunning visual of the song.”
Exxus, exit. Similar to Exodus, a departure. I feel this song is about himself, as if he's "taunting" himself but still understands he can die any day (im pretty sure the singer Dave struggled with opioid abuse)
Well, I wrote this album around the time I was graduating from high school, and it took a while to record, because I was doing most of it myself. I'm wondering how Glass Animals can be touring when this album is my intellectual property, my creation, music and lyrics. I'm really pissed off. I bet if a band is touring using my songs they won't have any idea what type of instruments were used to record this. Once again, I am pissed off. I'm going to have to find a way to do something about this.

I would like to thank the person in charge of choosing the music in The Blacklist, whoever you are sir, or mam, thank you for doing such a great job. Has anyone else here found like 5 new artists they like just from this show? Cheers
What's the meaning of this song? I think i know but im not sure... i feel like the person singing is a serial killer and his victim is trying to get away. That's why he says "Wake up with a hatchet over your head... I can see you running, gone in the blink of MY eye..." Maybe it's obvious but idk... what i know forsure is that this song is gruesome O_O the beat is relaxing but the lyrics are so eerie
I think it's more along the lines of a lost love. the person speaking is telling about an experience in which they suddenly are made aware that the person they love is holding a grudge("hatchet") or something similar ("over your head"). Their lover is starting to flirt with someone else ("if you need to hook him with your eye until he wiggles and wallows" "I can see you running") and it gets out of control. The person speaking loses the heart of their lover and they're "gone in the blink of my eye". It's made to sound like a murder attempt because it's a tragedy.
funny enough it reminded me of the burried in the ground bodies in the Hannibal series. Ha this song also made me think of a serial killer pf FEELS SHARED.

Killed upright, sniffing by his head
Takes his high with a bop on bed
Makes it joggle with his torn off legs

Perhaps it's a nightmare he's singing about. The song seems very surreal.
she refuses to bury the hatchet she left him.
Shemuel Kisch thats why he sings about another guy.
