I have a Made in Ireland Rapala lure that I found in my Dad's old tackle box when he gave up fishing. I've caught quite a few fish on it and always credit the luck of the Irish. This Summer I lost it while shore fishing some rapids on the Gull River. I borrowed a kayak and paddled into the rapids risking life and limb. But I retrieve my lucky lure.for another season.

I commend you Bill. That there is dedication not only to a lucky lure but a family heirloom.

They do make stuff that will glue back torn baits, called Mend It. Its hard to put down a bait that is catching that many. I have a little box of "Retired" baits, that have been honorably discharged.

I was hoping a fish would finally take it so I could put on a fresh one. Clearly the scent of other fish on that bait was not a deterrent. Maybe even an attractant? Wonder if any research had been done on that.

Well, I would say that is pretty successful. Well done

I like wacky but lose more soft baits that way

That’s true. I was using a Texas Rig for all but the last fish. If I had used a wacky the worm probably would have not lasted.
