...and the Star Wars materials are great! There just weren't any materials available for the longest time. These brief magazines were limited and weren't on the stands long, but we're like gold if you were lucky enough to find them. Great family memories are priceless, and these items are great for triggering the fondest recall of truly good times!

That was absolutely my experience. I never picked up all the "poster monthly's" because they would show up on the stand where I lived randomly and only once in a blue moon. I looked for them every month and only once in awhile would an issue appear. They were the most difficult for me collect! I wish I knew what magazine that original article (that I used for my book cover) came from as I would try and hunt it down. It may have been, "US" as my mother subscribed to that for awhile but I truly don't know and to date have been unable to find it.

Thanks for the nifty look back! ON TV was available throughout Southwest Michigan, to communities outside the Detroit area who couldn't get cable. I can't tell you how many soft core movies l glimpsed for their moments when the signal would unscramble and appear normally late into the night. Wow - what weird memories!

That's awesome! My dad worked in telecommunications and had some kind of filter device that allowed for the "Adults Only" ON TV broadcasts to be viewable :) So I have a lot of those same types of memories. Every little noise checking to see if anyone was up.

This is fantastic. In light of what Disney has done to our beloved galaxy far, far away, this reminds me of what I loved about SW all those years ago. I recognized some of the magazines, recalled staying up late reading with excited anticipation every tidbit I could find on Empire and then Jedi. This takes me back, so thank you for that. You simply cannot put a price on reminiscence.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that my video brought back those cherished memories. The magic of the original trilogy is truly timeless.
I’ve chosen to focus on celebrating the classic Star Wars era to keep the nostalgia alive and remind us of what we loved so much. While there are many opinions about the newer content, my goal here is to create a space where we can all reminisce and enjoy the essence of what made Star Wars special to us.
Thanks again for watching and sharing your thoughts!

The Star Wars Holiday Special helped teach me the important lesson to NEVER, EVER go back as an adult and watch the shows I remember loving as a kid. Happy memories of watching shows like the Holiday Special, Legends of the Superheros, and Battle of the Planets were shattered when I watched these through the eyes of an adult.

LOL... Legends of the Superheros was something I HAD to order in an effort to see it again... all I can say is, Yup... you're right! The Holiday Special was certainly a trapping of its time but I have fond memories of it for just being one exciting time to be alive. A new Star Wars show was about to appear on TV and Kenner had a full supply of toys... just a really great holiday season (bad show but we got to see our heroes again, even if only very briefly, and Christmas was just around the corner).

Uhhhhhh.... @9:42 "GIVEN out"?? I had to BUY mine.. , but yes, as the TESB Souvenir Program, only available in theatres. Though I did not get to see the first showing in my city (I was in the last couple weeks of my Junior year in high school), I DID go that day directly from school to the theatre arriving in my behemoth of a jalopy 1968 Ford Galaxy 500. I felt sorta Han Solo-ish driving that thing... If I floored the gas, I could literally watch the gas gauge move downward... but it did make .5 past light speed... HAHAHAHA!!

You may be right about that... we may have paid for it. I could have swore a guy from the theater came around to the line and handed them to people (but he may have been selling them). I know I went to see the movie a couple of more times after the premier and I do remember them being behind the counter at that point. As for the Ford Galaxy... that is the first thing I thought when you mentioned it! How appropriate... while you might not have thought so at the time, that is a cool car and I would happily own one today.
