Richard, I too got a cutting of the cacti Edgar calls Raisin cactus. I have been told that it is actually Myrtillocactus geometrizans. The fruit when picked dried from the cactus reminds me of Cranberry raisins.
Richard, thank you for providing me with the true name of the raisin cactus! You just saved me a million searches. Have you got to try the raisins from your cactus yet?
Grafting Dragon Fruit Yes, I have tasted the fruit, very small, and better when it dries out. It flowers a lot. When tasting, the fruit is so small, I kept thinking what it must be like to be an indigenous person looking for food.

So many varieties! I was gifted some cuttings from two different people but I don't know what variety they are. I don't want to cross pollinate and make a hybrid. Guess I have to find out first if these are self fertile.
Like a kid in a candy store, you seem very happy with you're new babies, and they sound great. I would love to see how you plant the raisin cactus, same method as dragon fruit?? Look forward to you're next video 😁😁😁
Thank you Bryan, that would be a perfect way to explain how I felt. I was literally like a kid in a candy store feeling many euphoria enveloping my body. The raisin cactus will be treated just like the Dragon Fruits. They will be rooted, plant, and fed the same way. Maybe it will produce me a raisin dragon fruit if I put it on the same regime. Lol :)
@@GraftingDragonFruit Hi there! I just joined the channel and I have a couple of questions for you. First, is there anyway you can differentiate the color of the fruit by the stems? I have plant that gives me both but I would like to know which one gives me the red ones. The 2nd question is: this plant looks great, very healthy. Great green color. Very little yield of fruit. I wish I could send you a picture. Besides using the Bloom and Flower that you recommended in another video, any other suggestion? I am in Fl, and the plant is under full sun. And I have absolutely no experience , I should have subscribed to your channel 5 yrs ago! Thank you!

Hello, very interesting your cuttings of pitahaya developed by mister Valdivia, a question, could you indicate me the parents of the material Tricia???
Hello Richard all these varieties are amazing, I have a question about two varieties that I want, in specific the frankies red and desert king the two of them seems to be hybrids of yellow and red dragon fruit so, how much time these varieties takes times to grow to bear fruits? and how is the flavor of these dragon fruits?
Hi Marion, Frankie's Red and Desert King both take about 3-4 months for the fruits to ripe. Frankie's Red is a very tasty and sweet fruit. Desert King is a magenta flesh that has good tart and sweetness contrast to each other. Definitely both great tasting varieties.
Hey the captus edgar give you its call garambullo look at the Mexican species. They taste really sweet. As you could tell egdar also loves pitayas in my opinion they are even better in flavor than any pitahaya but they required more specific weader conditions
Thanks for the vid you have great advise and are very knowledgeable may be you can help me I wish to buy some plant but I have not seen any for sale in my area I live in northern cali near chico CA again thanks for the great vids.

Hi Richard, that is a such great collection that every dragon fruit hobbyist would love to have. Congratulations! I have a question regarding your Edgar's baby seedling. Edgar's baby is self-sterile type, so it has to be pollinated by other varieties, then its seedlings would be by definition a hybrid, so it won't be the same as the mother plant. Is it true?
Hi Xiao Li, Edgar's baby is a self sterile so yes the seed would be a hybrid of a new type. It wont be true to the mother plant. It will be a cross of which ever pollen was used to set the fruit. I'm unsure of what Edgar used as a pollinator for these babies I'd have to ask him when I visit again.

It's been growing in a south facing window, at the 45th parallel, from about 3/4 of a gallon of cheap potting soil. I'm gonna move it to a 5 gallon bucket with a simple trellis. I don't think there's much hope for getting fruit, but I like the plant. It really wants to live.
Hi Gus, you definitely have a Dragon Fruit. To figure out what variety it has and to identify it we will have to wait until it produces a flower and fruit to really tell what it is. A trellis will definitely help it grow and produce you fruits in the future. They need support to stretch their vines and grow new branches! Good luck and happy gardening my friend!
