"There was a shooting" lol and by that they mean the sheriff shot a man who didn't vote the way he wanted.

False. A deputy/poll watcher was attempting to intimidate a black voter. And shot him for attempting to vote and not leaving.

Around 3:00 pm, C.M. "Windy" Wise, a patrolman, prevented an elderly African American farmer, Tom Gillespie, from casting his ballot at the Athens Water Works polling place. When Gillespie and a GI poll watcher objected, Wise struck Gillespie with brass knuckles, which caused Gillespie to drop his ballot and run from the deputy. Wise then pulled his pistol and shot Gillespie in the back

Huey Long was far worse. Remember this: the 2nd says NOT guns, but ARMS. ARMS are needed to overthrow tyrants. Yes ... tanks, mortars, missiles, jets, cannons, artillery. Its civilians that create, designs, and build weapons .. not the MIC.

That is because there was no other party in that part of the country at that time. Like the Communist Party, it was The Party. If you wanted to participate one ran as a Democrat even if the view was 180 degrees out of sinc with the other guy running, as a Democrat.

I live in Chattanooga, just 45 minutes from McMinn County and Athens, TN.
How this story hadn’t been made into a major length feature film or isn’t in more history books in America is beyond me…
Oh wait, I know why.. because anti-gun/pro-gun control Hollywood wouldn’t allow it.
