The Lexus RC has arrived to take on the best Germany has to offer in the form of the BMW 4 Series, Mercedes C-Class Coupe and Audi A5. It certainly looks the part with a striking front-end and stylish lines, but it only comes with petrol (RC 200t) or hybrid (RC 300h) engines.
We've got the RC 300h to see if it has what it takes to really worry its German coupe rivals.

Can someone please tell me why this guy get's so much hate and dislikes? He makes very good reviews with very good points. He is clear and well spoken while also being entertaining and not boring. If you guys don't like him then you don't need to watch his videos.

I bet the guys who are hating on him even didn't watch the video, I think he is doing a really good job. His first videos weren't the best, but he has stepped up his game really fast.
This guy is very good. People are just haters for whining and crying like. i am sure they cry about every little change in their life too.

Great voice, check! Clean way of speaking for non English people, check! Has a unique style, check! Points out what's needed in a review, check! I have no idea whats wrong with you racists. Doesnt matter if his short, tall, gay or straight. The guy is quite good at what he does. And he can only improve the more videos he does.

I'm a long time subscriber and a fan of Mat, but this guy does a good job, too.
I am sorry that there are many low evaluations because of this man. Though Lexus RC is a splendid car.

The Lexus is clearly designed for the US market, and won't see much success outside of that I would think.

I’ve just bought one and I bought it despite the reviews, not because of them.
Don’t listen to the rubbish about screaming cvt s and poor performance.
These cars are for those of us that don’t worship at the altar of German cars.
Looks are subjective, but I can’t think of a better looking mainstream car.
I was going to buy one of these, but purchased a Honda Jazz instead because of the larger boot. Thanks for the info Carbuyer!

It’s a coupe so practicality is not that important or space for rear passengers because it’s a coup! There are not many so mine is a head turner and been told everywhere it is best looking car on the carpark. Slagging off hybrid of course because that’s what we get in Britain. Steering is not vague, i have 200t and it’s awesome. It’s heavy indeed, f sport however gets LSD and adaptive suspension. It’s awesome looking car that drives well, it’s well refined and comfortable beyond belief.
I first didn't like him either because of his voice. But he's actually doing a great job and I'm sure most people will get used to his style. Give him a chance, really! I gave it a thumps up.
I'm watching carbuyer for few years now. This guy no doubt has his style but overall I think his doing reviews better than Mat
he's ok - and so is the review. just get yourselves used to the new guy. haters gonna hate, but reviews must go on.
I like this reviewer. He's way better than Rebecca and Ginny. I have some critics about CB reviews in general but this man does a great job. Keep up!
You are actually incorrect 200t cost exactly as much as 300h, however 200t is only available in F-Sport and Premier trims, making RC300h Luxury model - technically the entry level model @~ £34k in 2016 prices. Equally, in terms of performance 200t sites between 300h and 350 (which we don't get in UK), which makes 300h overall the cheapest and slowest model.
I wonder if he gets a chance to read the comments and see all the heat he's getting
There's more issues with the car than there is with the guy reviewing it, and the car doesn't have many issues.

I wasn't a fan initially but the presenter give good info and at least tried to inject some personality unlike some on other channels.

Firstly on the presenter, he's good, clear and has a personality. Stop obsessing over Matt he's gone, it's a review show, that's it.
On the car itself, as a Lexus owner I do love that the cars are built well and reliable but come on Lexus? The same criticms everytime, slow, heavy and bad fuel economy...
When compared to any of the Germans, the lexus cars always look like a poor alternative and they shouldn't, they should be the market leader because they have the potential.

Must admit, first impressions weren't very good when he was on Auto Express...and then Carbuyer. But he's improved a lot over the months. Good stuff! However, I still prefer the structure of earlier videos, with the positives first and negatives last. I always thought that was the Carbuyer-style.
I enjoy watching this chap, its a bit eccentric which is nice.

Clearly carbuyer isnt listening to its viewers when we say, we dont want him! so boycott the videos until they realise, the only way to get matt back is for us to stop watching these videos, if they see a drop in views, they'll have to do something about it. from now on until matt is back im not watching a single video, and im subscribing, join me.

So it's a reliable, luxurious cruiser. Why only 2.8/5? If you like the looks and don't care about sporty driving it looks to me like a better buy than its German rivals.

This is more like a comfortable, reliable, aesthetic option, but I'll always choose the non hybrid 2.0t (less complicated=more reliable) they are not reliable options in the segment (mostly German cars that broke down every 10k miles)

A splendid design, brilliance of the splendid body painting,Overwhelming body rigidity.Both the C class and 4 series are cheap cars if they compare it with Lexus RC.
I have an IS300h - it's crap to drive, feels cheap inside and is inferior to a C-Class, A4 or 3-Series in every way. In fact, it's inferior to an Avensis, which I'd rather be driving, to be honest.
I disagree I think it looks uglier than a 4 series or c class coupe. Also those cars have better interiors IMO.

This is a car channel for watching car reviews, that's it, and this guy does his job really well.
The comment section should be intelligent and ethical discussions regarding the car, not a warzone for immature individuals who whine and swear simply because of a different presenter.
Matt can't stay forever, and eventually he'll have to be replaced. I like him, definitely, but don't be such a baby crying over the fact someone else is presenting.
If you really believe you know so much about presenting a car review, then please, by all means, apply for a job as a reviewer, then do it in whatever fashion you please.

He's good at what he does, presenting. He just doesn't come off as a car enthusiast and I find it so hard to trust his reviews. I guess I've been spoiled with Matt and the others.

The hybrid model is designed with Japan and America in mind.
The 200t is the right car for Europeans. Why they picked the hybrid over the turbo is beyond my understanding.
Probably because Lexus gave them the hybrid! The hybrid makes more sense in the UK as we're taxed to death on emissions..! Although I haven't tried it, I'm sure the 200t is more fun - mainly as it has a proper gearbox.

Informative video, just wish this guy could try and sound like he has more than a passing interest in cars! :)
So what's the problem with him again? He seems competent to me. Speaks clearly and is easy to understand. Conveys what the car is like and about if a fairly effective way.
So, really what is the problem? I have NOT yet seen any legitimate criticisms of him other than "he's gaaaaaay".

in that colour, and in 1080p, adorned with raindrops , the car looks absolutely stunning , shame the rims are ugly , and its slow..

I like matt, but good luck to this guy. Its not easy to blend in with others at your new work job away. More humor though would make it more interesting to watch
This is the first video from him that I ACTUALLY liked. When he started out, he was just plain annoying, but you can see a MASSIVE progress.
