I only use mine upright with the table on. I took off one half and bolted it to my bench in the upright position. Works great very stable. I zip tied the trigger and got a foot switch from Harbor freight. This Is fantastic well worth the money no matter how you want to use it.
As a guy who bought this. I cut some 12 gauge square tubing worked pretty well with the chopping feature.
The table is fine it's enough for small jobs or small piece adjustments. Turning it on takes some getting used to but overall ok. Cutting square requires adjustments you'll be messing with the nobs and that takes forever.
Overall it's heavy but portable enough if you do field work this is dope . I would recommend as the features it provides at the price is amazing
Have you cut angle iron or tubing at a 45 degree angle?
I am pretty new to doing shop work like this and I know I want to be able to do this and I also know my skill level at figuring out solutions to things like this is ....low..haha
Cool. I have seen others that have built their own stands. I would rather just buy one already built. $99 is a fair price. Makes the portable saw much more useful.
Indeed! And by the time you would buy the materials and your time involved, like you say $99 is an absolute fair price!!! 👍👍
I’ve been tracking stock of these in my area for the past month (late to the game!) missed out on some that some that were 20 min drive away because I didn’t get there right at opening. Now looks like the price went up $20! 😢
Thanks for taking the time to put this video together! Just purchased that same setup as well as the other items you recommended!
Thanks for this video! I already have the Bauer mounted in the SWAG table and I love it - but it's hard to make square cuts on longer pieces. This looks perfect for that and I have a spare Bauer saw for portable use that I think would be better used in this horizontal set-up
Just bought one today. Haven't assembled it yet. Thanks for the review.
I've been wanting something like this since I bought mine. There are others and several diy tutorials but many involve more permanent or near changes to the saw. There's even a couple that you velcro down the trigger.
The videos I've seen on this one make it much easier and we'll worth the money.
Just bought a used Milwaukee 6232-21 corded deep cut bandsaw for EMT and Unistrut projects. Your thorough, insightful and very well organized presentation was immediately helpful. I subscribed!
love the shop and the Lazy Boy Chair. thanks for the video!!!!!!!
VERY cool! I too built my own bench style for my Milwaukee porta band, but this looks like I might have to grab one! Thnx for the vid!!!
I bought the saw for my Son for his birthday. We have been watching for a good deal on a mounting bracket like this one! Yes, it's a game changer. ;) Shop space is limited, this fits the bill perfect! Thank you HF!
I couldn’t bring myself to buy swags over priced table too. This past weekend I saw the band saw table and bought it with the herc saw as well. I ABSOLUTELY love it!!
I actually have the Swag vertical stand. I know it's a pricey piece of equipment, but for my purposes it's perfect. I like how I'm able to easily adjust the angle of the blade to be precisely 90 degrees to the table. I haven't had a need for a horizontal function as of yet, but this looks like a solid solution for just that.
Great review my friend you covered just about everything with this product I have one and will fiddle around with it just like you did appreciate your video !😊
I just recently got into blacksmithing and now need a band saw for cutting metal and wood. This attachment along with the Bauer saw seems to fill that niche. I have a small workshop that has to accommodate several hobbies.
Yep. I'll be picking one of these up.
Just bought one, totally awesome!
I got one of these a few weeks ago and set it up with the Bauer saw. It was pretty fiddly to get it to make perfectly square cuts. I never got the trigger bar to work so just went and got the foot switch.
I'm Getting That Habor Freight Unit! Great Value! Thank's For The Review!
I've got a King brand portaband saw that I have been meaning to make a vertical stand and table for. I think I will pick up this stand from HF, I may have to make my own adapter for the front, but the ability to use it as a horizontal saw should make it well worth the effort.
I got one for Father's day😊. It is really nice, very well built
i bought one the day it hit the shelves in my store. i love this thing, but yes the initial trigger setup was fiddley. small price to pay for the versatility. btw it can be bolted down in the upright position there are 2 holes in it just for that. a couple threaded inserts will be making its way into my bench where it lives and a couple wing nuts welded on some all thread for quick setup changes. overall i highly recommend this. for me personally this has been a game changer and has tripled my use of my portaband
Because of your video, I had to drive a 150 miles to Harbor freight yesterday to get one , they only had 2 in stock when I called . Thanks for the video.
I absolutely do not need this but i want it and i will be buying it soon
I love mine so much. It gave me a renewed motivation for fab work. Well worth the $100
12:00 - The reason these saws are worth it is because the SAW rotates and not just the FENCE. It's great for stationary use in a table setup, you can just rotate the saw for miters. You're not "supposed" to use it upright, but I made a table that I drop in the clamp and it's good to go!
I'll definitely be gettine one. The vertical table does need a way to attach a fence and a foot switch is the way to go for sure.
I have the swag table and it was a great investment I use it almost any time I need to cut metal wood plastic etc but this looks like a great solution with more versatility in use
So I use this and have been for a while (I bought it before it made it to the display room, it was back in logistics). The only thing was I had to swap the two bolts for the vertical table to have a smooth platform. That cost me 10 minutes to hit the tractor supply TSC, but it fixed the issue. I also had to work hard on the trigger... but I did not need tape. That and the replacement screws were my only issues. It is a regular use tool for me.
This looks like it could be a solution for a lot of people that don't have a lot of money or space. From my understanding the metal band saws are really expensive and cheap ones are hard to find talking about the vertical non-portable ones. So this I've seen a lot of people make stands for these type of saws. So this could be a solution. I'm definitely going to look at it
Looks fairly good 👍 by design... like the upright position and table for sure
Thanks for this real man review. Much appreciated Sir.
I probably wouldn’t call it a game changer, but definitely consider it a must have.
i have been to harbor freight and looked at one on display.hope they get
some in for xmas.i want one
I am glad to see the supervisor was engaged from the very start of the video.
He was watching “The View,” lol.
Next purchase on my list from HF
Thanks for the video, I plan to buy two, I have two corded Bauer band saws because I bought them both on sale for $84 each just in case the first one broke when I really needed…lol. I have one and HF foot pedal. I may buy another one and leave them permanently set like some mentioned in the comments. Great idea.
I so very much need one of these!
Great information and thank you!
Got one and love it.
Thanks for posting this video, I had no idea HF had introduced this stand. Bought one this morning. No Problem setting it up at all. Trigger switch works well. I use mine mostly for cutting off stock for machining on a lathe or mill, so getting things perfectly square off the saw is not a big deal for me. But I will definitely check it and tune it in the best I can. A suggestion for you: when making videos show the features of the item, you did not really show how that table swings down to hang off a bench, or at least I did not see you show it? Talking about what other companies have and the prices is pretty much a waste of time, we all know how to use the internet to find out what costs what. But, once again, thanks for making us aware of this piece of kit.
Yes, this is definitely a game changer for me. Thanks for the info, new subscriber! 👍
For the price? Definitely a game changer. I'm getting ready to build a push bumper out of 2x6 and 2x4 tubing and channel iron. This will make a big difference. Thanks for the video 😊
You WILL regret it if you want a straight cut.. If you want a sloppy bumper,, buy sloppy tools like this JUNK...
I’ve had it for about a month and I love it works flawlessly. Go get it.
Have you tried cutting a 45 degree angle yet? I kind of wish he showed how he would do that - I am new to this kind of stuff but I know that is something I want to do
@@jeffa847 so the only way of cutting a 45 would be to adjust whatever stock you’re cutting. In the case of pipe just turn it to where you need the 45. It has the adjustable back stop or whatever it’s called. But you cannot adjust the band saw to a 45. There are plenty of TH-cam videos on how to cut angles with a band saw.
I've had the SWAG for a while. It works great for short stock, not so much for long stock. That's where this one comes in. Picked this one up today before it sells out or HF raises the price!
How do you feel this table compares to the SWAG one?
Well, I took this one back because I had the SWAG already, even though the SWAG doesn’t accommodate horizontal cutting. I couldn’t justify keeping both. The SWAG vertical cut set up is much better though.
I don't even understand what one does with a portable band saw, but now I want one. Thanks, Jeff.
Just saw this lately and I had made my own upright stand. I did not see the trigger arrangement but mine is just cable tied and powered at the plug.
Blade changing is not easy! Wish there was a band like 1/4 so you could cut at least a gentle curve in plate. Wonder how long it takes to convert vertical to horizontal. Bauer no longer has replacement rubber tires but other brand did actually work.
When I saw a HarborFreight announce that I’m like yeah I need one. Waiting for the next coupon to come out to pick one up excellent review by the way.
Remember WEN the HF band saw stand fit the portable WEN band saw? Yep, it fits. 🎉
Been waiting for that 20v they showed off at SEMA defiantly gonna have it live on this most of the time.
Nice video. The thing the Swag has is the miter gauge. Being able to cut 45 or 30 degree tubing is what sells those. Wish HF would have included a slot and miter gauge…
I bought one of these after waiting five years since I discovered Porta-band (the inventors of this). They were just way too much for home shop projects. I have the red horizontal, but sometimes it's hard to get to. This will be awesome for a lot of small jobs. Super pumped about it. Any idea when the Hercules band saw will drop? Now I need that/a saw!
Bought this to use with my ryobi cordless bandsaw didn't fit that's fine I kinda expected that. So I bought the bauer one from HF and in the stand I couldn't get a straight cut to save my life. I spent 3 hrs messing with it and ended up taking it back and upgrading to the big band saw for another 100 bucks. That thing is amazing and has been working great with little adjustments out of the box
This is what I've been waiting for, the others were just to expensive for me to justify buying one since I don't cut every day but harbor freight here I come.
Got it
Thanks for the review as always. Any chance you'll be scoring the new Hercules planer for a review?
All good info. Good add-on suggestions. 100 bucks is fair I think. Thanks
Looks pretty cool IF you already have a band saw that fits it. I was somehow hoping it was more universal so I could use it with an older Greenlee band saw.
I just bought one of these Saturday, haven't had a chance to us it yet. Our full size bandsaw broke the main drive gear so we don't have a saw anymore....... till now.
Thanks for your video and info - I just purchased the same stand attachment from Habor Freight for my WEN portable band saw. I hope this setup will be doable and not too much of a PIA, because I do use my saw manually as well and will need to change it back and forth.
I have a WEN portaband. Have you used your with this stand? Do the two work together?
I asked a DeWalt rep a month ago if the had one and he had no idea what I was talking about. I spotted this at HF yesterday and was immediately impressed by build quality and bought it for my DeWalt corded. ......I was surprised to find the table include.
didn't it yet but going to like the chop function and compactness, i do have a 7x12 big boy Wilton green harbor freight horizontal metal band its a pain in the ass to use and drag out, I have 2 Milwaukee porta-bands one is mounted on homemade stand other is portable,
i have a small sign company ...I like the fact I can take Hercules with me on the job site and makes straight cuts on the chop function. or sit it on my welding table .
hell, i might buy the Bauer and leave it in the stand for $200 ish bucks can't go wrong. The clamping needs some mods but i can handle it .
thanks for the video and review" Shine on !!"
Definitely a bargain. I got my older Dewalt to fit it with a bit of fiddling around with the Dewalt handle adapter that was clearly made for the more recent versions. It was offset pretty far to the right side to fit blade into the the slot in the base, so the On-Off trigger was useless. I zip tied the trigger and got a foot switch from HFT like others suggested.
That's why you zip tie the trigger down and get the cord with the foot pedal conversion 👍
I have the Swag and like it but would like to be able to use both ways. used a zip tie for the trigger and foot switch from Harbor Freight.
I bought a saw with the chop stand. With about $20 of angle and square tube I make a vertical stand for it. I don't have to take anything off the saw to use the stand. The saw is held on the chop stand with 3 screws. I just take the screws out and hang the saw on my vertical stand by the handle. Then I have a piece of aluminum I use for a plate that clamps on with a quick clamp. Wrap a piece of velcro around the trigger and use a foot pedal to power the saw. Takes about a minuet to go from chop saw to vertical saw, or back to the chop stand.
You know as you were talking about having to take the saw in and out of the stand, I thought "I would probably just get another saw". For the $100 it would be much more convenient and a great backup in case the one in the stand wore out.
I bought the Klutch saw. I just did a bunch of cuts. I had to adjust the zero for angle accuracy and the switch seems cheap. Otherwise it seems like a good value since its small and light.
For work and cutting a 1-1/2" x 10' Galvanized Steel Pipe Schedule 40 a band saw is the best thing for the job.
What's more of a game changer is that foot pedal !
I'm glad I haven't bought the swag table this one will fit my needs perfectly
Love the video an titan adapter.
I bought one and set it up and my saw barely worked in the stand and vibrated really badly. I took it out and it cut fine. Put it back in and it cut like crap, back out and cut fine. Same blade, battery, etc not sure what the deal was. Will have to try it again at some point as it seems really handy to have. I have a swag table that works great and am sticking with that for now. I also cut lengths with an Evo dry cut saw and an imported 7x12 bandsaw that do the bulk of my cutting. Got this for mobile work.
Man the first couple words you said came in so hot I wasn’t sure what was happening 😂😂😂
I'm sold! I was about to go to HF and get one. Of course, they're not in stock. I used to go to HF almost weekly. I can hardly remember the last time I went. I loved the coupons. Now, they're almost worthless. Staff shortage means long lines. Not much fun anymore.
I got this as soon as it came out. I just zip tied the trigger down & put it on foot switch. Can’t beat the bang for the buck.
2:30 German tightening specs “GoodenTight” 😂😂😂
And I bought the swag table. Haven’t got that dialed in yet. As it doesn’t quite cut square. I have a vertical saw but this would have been so much nicer!
I thought that i seen(i could be wrong) somewhere that that table allows for you to cut in a 45-degree angle.🤔i like the foot pedal control setup👍
It seems like it would not be hard to hook a weight to the handle for cuts on larger stock that take a while, could be close to using a full horizontal band saw.
I love safety Crocs! Almost time for a new pair, they're about ready to "Fred Flintstone".
We need a video on the herc surface planer!!
I’ve had my eye on the anbull for months getting ready to pull the trigger soon
I like it, you seem more excited about this then I've seen you in a while. Maybe its the coffee.
I'm buying tomorrow
I bought the SWAG a few months ago. Oh well, that's the way it goes!
Great video as usual!! Really love all the tool comparisons you include! I've watched several vids about this stand. I'm going to get one today if my local HF has one when I get there (website says they do). A gamechanger? I think so. I'm not doing production work or anything. Just a dude that makes and fixes stuff from time to time. I think this will be very awesome.
I have a corded Bauer saw for now. I'd like to go cordless but I don't want to switch to another cordless platform (switching to Hercules: one battery, charger, and the tool total about $300 which is what Dewalt tool only is). I already have Dewalt tools and several batteries. I may get the Dewalt cordless band saw Model #DCS374B. The online manual for this stand suggests the Dewalt will fit.
I've read several comments about the Bauer trigger not lining up on this stand easily. If I use my Bauer saw with this I think I'll get a cheap foot pedal switch.
It comes with the table to put on when in the vertical position
For 99 bucks what more could you as for it looks well put together and sturdy. Can you please do review on the thicknesser
almost bought the portaband table until i saw this... about to have a bunch of unistrut that needs to be cut down at work and this will make it soooo much easier to get a straight cut.
I'm going to get one, eventually
Good video, I was going to make me one but I am going to get one of them.
6:40 - WHAT?!? Nice. 😎
Its a great stand minus not having a vise to hold your material. I have an older Milwaukee so I had to get creative. I think the Bauer saw is a copy of the old Milwaukee style. I couldn't get the switch lever to line up. Do you have a close up of that area?
I was looking to build somthing like this for my Wen band saw and while looking up designs on youtube someone had one of these. So far it is been great. I do not like that switch but I plan on zip tying it and useing a foot switch. I might also trying to figure out a way to make a controlled downfeed to cut items like an expensive horazontal bandsaw would.
Cool have you tried that yet? If not let me know if it fits with the Wen! Or if you have to Fab some type of bracket. Been looking to see if anybody has tried that yet
@@markanthonyalamillojr.2586 it fit perfect with the Wen. I forget witch bracket it was but mounted right up. I don’t love the power switch bar it works but clunky. I think I will zip tie and use a foot switch. Also. Not a big fan of the vice grip type clamp. I think I am going to try and mod it with a more traditional screw type camp like on a chop saw.
@@waynezirkle9675Thank you!!!! This is exactly what I wanted to know! Thanks bro I appreciate you taking the time to comment that it fits the wen. Take care bro.
This is fantastic. Gotta go check it out at the store! Where did you get the bogger table for use when its vertical?
It’s included
I'm patiently waiting for ppl to start reviewing the Hercules planer
I bought one. Works well.
@@bronzearmy2645excellent review😂
Jeff why don't u try radiator hose around trigger now and u make bigger too by adding more rubber hose to it also too also. FYI now too..
Any idea if this can accept the battery style dewalt portabands ?? Your thoughts ? Thanks I think it's fantastic thus far !
I'm buying now... so I guess YES game changer
Hey, Thanks for sharing! Do you think this would work for the wen portable band? Thanks again.
