There was a strong odor of gasoline coming from my car (05 E500) everytime I fill the tank. I lift up the rear passenger seat and I saw gasoline under the driver side (left passenger seat). The other side was dry. I decided to replace the pump. I confirmed with the dealer that the fuel pump was located on the left. Went online and purchased the left fuel pump. When it came just like you I realized that the main pump is actually on the right and the unit I purchased was actually the filter unit which was also called a pump. So I had to go online again and ordered the main fuel pump which is on the right. Then it was told that the vehicle actully has two fuel pumps... primary and a secondary. The primary (main) is on the right and the secodary (with filter) on the left. Also the filter housing cannot be opened as you shown in your video... I was confused...
Very good video. Do you know if Mercedes Diesel use this same kind of filter? Mercedes Diesel has a main filter in the engine compartment but I don't know about inside the tank.
I got the Febi Bilstein 39831 fuel filter it not quite rite one hole is too small and the original filter has a rubber seal/Gromiton top and bottom around the inlet/outlet hole
link for the filter please. dealing with this now on my e55. i just order an XRP 10 micron high flow inline filter to install under the tank , will tap into factory line with 3/8th line if I can get into the sender and put in a replacement filter inside there also, that would be a perfect & i'd run both together. do you have a link for tool to remove sender unit & fuel pump locking ring? and also link for filter please . thanks !
wrestlerkid99 take the old filter out take it to Walmart and replace it and size it up with a Fram oil filters which is exact same things this works just fine
hey guys, i did everything the way you said in the video and the pump box still won't fill with fuel. If i pour some in it the car will start and work for a few mins but then because the box doesn't get filled it just dies down. Can you please advise on what the problem could be?
Below there is a note that it is Febi 39831 ... I found on eBay for about $25 (they look very similar all indications just visual that is correct # and I notice they include o-ring)
mangler313 never found out these guys don't respond so I just gave a thumbs down for the video spread the word maybe that'll help for them to start replying
