This week, we tried out Golbari, located at Shyambazar. The original name of this place is The New Punjabi Hotel. It's a more than 100 years old restaurant in Kolkata and extremely famous for the best Kosha Mangsho in Kolkata. So we thought to check if its true. But trust me it was not that good and did not met our expectation. The meat was really chewy and was not soft at all. The chutney they provided with it did not suit. But the gravy was spicy and flavorful but so much oily. I think its good only when you compare with the price you pay. Now coming to the ambiance,
It is a very small food joint of a 10-15 seat capacity, non-air conditioned. They have very limited food options.
Mutton Kosha(mutton in thick gravy),
Mutton Keema (minced Mutton),
Mutton Liver Curry,
Parathas(breads)
Biryani etc.
all the dishes are already precooked, and served as ordered. The food is hot and spicy. There is a thick layer of oil and melted mutton fat that floats on the dark brown signature dish. The food tastes best with parathas and laccha onions(spiced onions) along with tangy tamarind chutney. There are other food options as well.

How to reach Golbari: We got a local train from Bangaon Junction to Dum Dum Junction and then took a metro from Dum Dum till Shyambazar. And its the just 2mins of walking. This was the shortest route from our location.
Time: 11AM-11PM Everyday. Peak Time: 1PM-3PM

আজ আমি গেছিলাম গোলবাড়িতে এর আগে আমি অনেক নাম শুনেছিলাম গোলবাড়ির সেই জন্য যাওয়া আমরা দুজন গেছিলাম দুই plate order দিয়ে ছিলাম কষা মাংস বিল করল 506 টাকা 😐 যেহেতু আমরা Student মানুষ তাই একটু পকেটা কেপে উঠল সে যাই হক টাকায় মারি গুলি ভাবলাম অতুলনিয় কিছু আজ আজ হয়তো পেতে চলেছি but সে ভাবাই সাড়😢 এর থেকের একশতগুন ভালো মটন কষা আমার মা প্রতি রবিবার করে করে 😊😊
