In this episode I’m restomodding a 1980’s Corgi Taxi. A staple sight when in London the ‘Black Cab’ is an iconic symbol of London transport. Its still pig ugly though! Here I am adding a bit of extra Va Va Voom…..

You inspired me to have a stab at using plasticard in my recent build, really enjoyed using it, i'm going to invest in a selection of the stuff so I can build a lot more from it.

An interesting take on a London taxi. I find enamelled copper wire makes for good HT leads, slightly thinner and a variety of colours available. Another nice job on this one.👍

Nice work as always! Some London taxis do have advertisement boards on top but they tend to be LED screens nowadays that change the ad every 10 seconds or so.
You are master of interiors. Great video, very entertaining to watch. Like how You leave out all parts from the video that we have all seen a thousand times like paint removal, ect. Nice editing.

At the beginning I was thinking 'oh no he's going to hack up a taxi' and at the end I was thinking 'oh wow what a way to hack up a taxi'. The drawing pin idea is very clever, I must remember that one. As for the paper clips, they should rename them - the majority of them never get anywhere near paper!

Amazing! I kind of like the vintage London taxi, but then I like those old Checker monsters we used to have here in the States too. You'd have to be a glutton for punishment to try and race one of those, though, I think they made them out of lead and basalt slabs. :)
Haha they're sturdy then 😂 Theres a reason old timers are used in banger racing being as sturdy as they were 👍🏻

Another great build, one thing I would have done differently is to have the exhausts coming out the side before the rear wheels but it would then foul the doors opening.

You need to make a zero clearance insert for your scroll saw. Been meaning to make one for mine for a while. I made one for the bandsaw and it works a treat.

Superb video, not too keen on choice, but just my opinion.
Tip to straighten paper clips, unfold them, stick on end in a drill, thread it through a pre drilled piece of wood/metal, as the clip rotates, twist the piece of wood 45-90 degrees and slide it along the clip, 3 or 4 times should do it, then put the other end in the chuck and repeat.
Should end up with a pretty straight, if not perfectly straight piece of wire.

I like the Ryobi kit. Currently I have two cordless drills, belt sander, multi tool and the bench saw. Apart from the sander the rest get used weekly and have never skipped a beat. I've definitely had my money's worth for sure so I for one like them and recommend them. Not super expensive but not super cheap either...... and as daft as this sounds the colour sticks out a mile and I can always spot them, even when building tree houses in the dark for the kids hahaha!!

Great stuff SK ... l was just going to say that it woukd l've been great to turn that Taxi into a Gasser , raise the front suspension up . I've seen a few modellers do this . Also you coukd've kept the coloured glass as in real funny car hot rod dragsters they do use coloured glass in them , my be to keep the glare off the track as they raced the quarter mile .... l mean it's your choice in the end. I have a London Taxi model myself , and l git a kind of stock car with monster truck wheels and tyres , which looks cool in itself , but l'm thinking of using them on the taxi to turn it into a monster truck ....l've not seen a London Taxi monster truck before 😆..... anyway great build and l think i'll be using your tips to build a roll cage for it when I come to build it ..... After we've moved house that is .... l don't have a video channel, something I need to look into but I am on Instagram and Twitter so if you're on any of these l'll probably be showing it once I get around to building the Monster Taxi .... 'till then keep up the great builds 👍

If you want to straighten paper clips or wire, grab either end of the piece with pliers and give them a little pull .stretching it a little will give a nice straight piece to work with.

Very nice ! love the detailing. How about doing something from the UK oval racing scene? I don't think I've ever seen anyone do a banger, hot rod, saloon stock or any of the other weird and wonderful formulas. Thanks for posting !
Could do yeah... I did see a transporter somewhere full of Bangers and Stock Cars but can't think where. I do have a pile of mashed up ones I hammered as a kid for a scrap yard that may just fit the brief👍🏻

Reminds me of the taxi side missions from Forza horizon 4, where you get given a TX-1 that is souped up according to where the fare wants dropping off. Lol, next up, will you be doing an all terrain/rally taxi?

Somone did make a real London Taxi dragster but it was not a beautiful as this. I'm surprised you didn't put tubs in the rear.
