Glad to see you not having any serious issues! I just swapped the original kohler 14hp for the predator on my 85 woodmizer. I switched the factory fuel pump for a mikuni pump first thing. So far everything's going great. Thanks for the video!

Quick question so it’s a predator on your wood mizer for 11 years, what problems have you ram into so far, I really want to convert from kohler ch20 to predator, for now since a new horizontal kohler are around 2k plus brand new, think this would work good on a heavy duty walk behind self propelled stump grinder, kohler engine was great till it started having troubles already put 600 of work into it, and it just keeps getting more and more problems, also have a separate gas tank on my grinder 4 galón

@@Rico-vms carburetor ended up being a big issue about 3 years in. I replaced it with a Honda carburetor. The Honda carburetor mounted right in place and needed no modifications. I did have to replace the rectifier at one point, because it quit charging the battery. I used the Honda equivalent rectifier. Otherwise, I have had no issues

@@fullingtonlumbercompany3656 thanks for the reply and that’s not bad at all my kohler is a ch20 started off with Val over leak fixed then head gaskets blew heads rebuilt, used it for about and hour started leaking oil out exaust manifor sputtering and smoking a lot would rather replace with something cheaper for now that will last a good time with care and routine maintenance, definitely looking forward for a predator engine now thanks seen so many people saying bad things about them but they really seem reliable and can’t beat the horse power for the pric r

@@Rico-vms I was actually impressed with it. I bought it to continue running the mill while the other engine was being repaired under warranty and ended up just leaving the predator on there. It was abused for 5-7 days a week. I changed the oil and filter every 100-150 hours using a high grade oil. I have no complaints, I was using it like a commercial engine and it held up fine

@@fullingtonlumbercompany3656 definitely like the good feed back since a lot of other people say they aren’t that good this that. Plus it’s a side hustle I do go grind stumps after work or on slow days, so I would probably only be running it like 2/3 days out the week nothing crazy first stump I grinded was 4 feed did pretty well with the 20 year old kohler on it “ch20” so I could imagine with a new motor 2 extra horse on it, brand new set a teeth, it’s a heavy duty hydrostatic walk behind.

I looking at doing the same except on a wood mizer, are you still having good luck with the predator?

I got a lot of miles out that engine. The carburetor became an issue after well over 500 hours and I swapped it out with a Honda carburetor. I sold my business in November of 2023

Great video! Do you have any video on wiring the electric fuel pump to the key switch? Thanks in advance.

I do not have a video of the installation. It's the yellow wire coming from the switch.

Did you just spliced the hot (red) wire to anywhere on the yellow wire ?

@@Unseeable.. I spliced the red wire to the yellow wire coming out of the key switch. That turns the pump on only when the ignition switch is on. The black wire on the pump is grounded to the engine
