Gill, would like to hear where you left off on your avionics and whether you got to a point of turning on your system? Also, how have you been impacted by the Van's drama? Were any of your parts laser-cut? I assume from your videos you got your engine early? Or did you end up having to pay more? What's your time-line now for finishing up with the RV-10?
Avionics are gonna light up real soon :) No Vans bankruptcy issues for us, we were lucky to already have all the parts from them before it happened. No laser-cut either, we got lucky! Or maybe we have just been at this too long :-D
Gill You installed drybot as well as the Tanis system. The Tanis system says it will prevent moisture build up so do you feel you still need the drybot? I was going to install the usual oil pan heater but this look like Tanis is a much better alternative if it truly solves moisture issue. You also mentioned that the plug would not fit in the air inlet area of the cowl. I was hoping to install the plug there. What obstructions did you encounter?
For during-build, the DryBot seems like a no-brainer, keeps everything super dry. The engines has gotten so expensive nowadays, that I feel belt & suspenders are now in order. If using both gets me another 200 hours of flight time, they more than pay for themselves many times over :) There's a lot of stuff on the air inlet ramp already, we just couldn't find a spot that wasn't blocked by the cowl baffle, an existing hole, or the prop cable.
@@BuildFlyGo Gill, You convinced me. I just ordered the DryBot for my engine that arrived Yesterday. Question on the emags. It looks like you have duel emags as I do. Lycoming installed but how did you wire the circular connector? Did you install the mode switch? Also did you see my message about your oil cooler mount? There is a baffle that airflow recommends installing for the RV-10.
