I'm coming up to my 65th birthday and Thunderbirds is still my favourite of Gerry's creations, although I do like UFO as well. One of my favourite scenes is when Virgil brings the Elevator cars out of 2s pod and saves Fire flash. EPIC ! Gerry the Genius.
My Dad first introduced me to Thunderbirds in the 1980s when we heard the Salvation Army band play the theme tune. I then collected them on VHS. My 1st The Martion Invation/Mighty Atom. Wow, love this video. Happy 60th 🎉
I used to watch this every time it came on! I am now 66 and almost remember bits of the shows you talked about! You cannot realise just how fantastic it was back then to watch a new show such as this! It was riveting and stunning!
A landmark series that influenced a generation of other series, movies, and imagery. You can see the ideas and fingerprints in many areas, especially sci fi and anime from Japan and Asia. Plus, the music was fantastic. No wonder the concerts still sell out.
The original Thunderbirds is still a classic series and well crafted, the modern CGI show, does well respecting its legacy while also delivering a new take for modern times, such as the fact the miltray higher ups are well aware of the Thunderbirds pilots idenities and where they are based, yet also keeping it a top level secert!
I've said this before on other forums, but Gerry Anderson deserved a knighthood. Not just for services to the entertainment industry but for inspiring THREE generations of Engineers, Scientists and Astronauts. I'm from the first generation and still going strong even at retirement age. Like everyone here, the opening theme still gets me every time. (Cant immediately remember the name of the musical genius behind all the theme music etc , but their contribution was a key part of the series and what made it extra great)
I often wondered how would the world ever get by without the thunderbirds. Like really, can't any other organisation do what they do. Why do they get the monopoly on rescue missions?
International Rescue are only summoned for a rescue when all other conventional methods have failed. So if it is possible that other organisations can do the job, they won’t be needed
@theSonicguy001 Hold my beer. I get my pick up truck and haul most of these rescues. Just joking. Thunderbirds is entertaining nevertheless, just a little outdated.
I am nearly 65 and I watched every episode. Certain things went over my head like Lady Penelope getting tied up and saying "oh I don't mind really" ..humm 😄
One of my favourite rescues is Thunderbird 4 cutting off the engines so Fireflash can float to the surface, Gordon using the message projector to tell the pilots what he will do to rescue them.
Happy 60 anniversary of Thunderbirds aka my favourite supermarionation show of all time, and my favourite episode has to be Day of Disaster because of Brains' talking watch because i found that scene am and the Martian Space Probe try to cross the Allington Suspension Bridge, It has failed because of the damage by A severe electrical storm. Gordon Tracy pilots Thunderbird 4 has to Rescue the Nose cone & cuts the debris with Thunderbird 4 lasers, while Virgil lifts the wreckage from the water with Thunderbird 2 Magnetic grabs. & Oh my God I love this episode plot! :)
How typical. The one episode that you highlight Thunderbird 5 having a key role, John Tracy was on leave and Alan took his place lol. I've read that Gerry Anderson hated John for some silly reason. 🤔
I know right? Poor John got the short end of the stick again… At least John (and Gordon as well to some extent), got a bit more love in the 2015 reboot… A better balance between the roles of the brothers was one of the things the reboot actually improved upon in that series…
HAPPY 60 YEARS🎉🪅🎊🥳🎆🎇 ....Incredible.....and still going strong.....Saturday mornings with Thunderbirds....great memories.....🏝🏝🏝🚀🏝🏝🏝
Always brings a smile to my face remembering I was able to watch/appreciate when Thunderbirds was originally transmitted. Magical.
Happy 60th year of THUNDERBIRS!!!
Operation crash dive and end of the road are my kids' favourites!
God I love Thunderbirds 🥲
THUNDERBIRDS ARE 60!❤❤❤

still great 60yrs+
Sun probe does a great job of showing the tense and desperateness of the situation. Probably the most perfectly disturbing episode. 😊

All very good choices, but Trapped in the Sky deserved at least an honorable mention.
Thunderbirds are peak..
Yep, that's a pretty good selection sirs :-)

I knew T3 would come up with "Sun probe". It's one of the best episodes on the series.
Nice list
336th 👍 Like.

Can I suggest The Duchess Assignment for Thunderbird 5, it involment in tracking the Duchess of Royston after her arrival in New York.
6:12 you missed to use the current hype word .. “ Modular “
do you really need to use theatrical cover? rather than the original?
I don't think TB2 was shot down by the US Navy. Wasn't it the World Navy or some such?
Sorry dude, but "functionality" does not exist as a word in the world of Thunderbirds ;-)
You had me at "FIVE!..." in the first second! 😁👍
The best TV show ever made! 🌟🥰
