i love that you do not only react but also share some things of your live. it is interesting to see your home and dogs. it is a little bit chaotic and in my opinion very simple living. thank you. btw your garden is a mess.
Drinking water; we use usually the tap water (highest quality and control) doesn't cost much and is always included in rent, bottled sparkling water you buy in the store ranging from 50 cent to 4 Euro per liter (depending on store or brand, often smaller bottles cost more than the bigger ones) and the deposit (called "Pfand") is included in the end price (glass bottles, 8 cents Pfand, are environment friendlier than plastic bottles, 25 cents Pfand) you get the full Pfand amount back by retutning. So 4 plastic bottles are 1 Euro and 5 glass bottles 40 cent...
tapwater in restaurants is free, by law, but not everyone knows about it. you have to ask for it. if they want you to pay for it its against human rights...
A 1-room flat is very expensive for the price here in Germany. Especially in the big cities like Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, etc. I pay just €568.47 a month for my 140m² living space (3 rooms) for electricity, water, heating and all other ancillary costs such as property tax, rainfall and waste disposal fees. (Kitchen and bathroom are generally not counted) The prices for the goods are also partly due to the fact that many of the goods do not come from Germany but from other European countries. They can sometimes be produced more cheaply there than here.
You need to save as much as you can that's why we look through the papers of the grocery stores (physical or digital) and for the most part only buy groceries that are on sale in the week. So altough inflation did hit hard you can still survive relatively good by having the right consumption behaviour. We also look for good offers regarding clothing, electronics and so on. I wish we could all live completly on regional food products here cuz they're most of the time of higher quality (but also very pricey) but all the expenses don't allow for it. If you have a garden and time you can plant stuff to save some bucks.
These prices were not up do date even 1 year ago and we have had a lot of inflation since. Food in particular grew more expensive. I'd say current food prices in Germany are, across the board, 20-25% higher than stated in the video.
Yea, this prices are not accurate, you can multiply this with 3 on these days.. But it increased in many countries. I pay 1400€ for 2 room apartment, 300€ Food, insurance 200€ and cost for internet, mobility and services are not included here and also in countries are regional differences
Germany 🇩🇪 is a nice Country to live in Its almost clean everywhere and safe and lifestyle is still high and jobs and the Food and beverage are great. The weather is usually normal.short but hot summer’s sometimes rainy Nice springtime and autumns And winter depends on which part of Germany you live could be just rainy and cold or snowy and cold.
19:06 520€ is very high. For me with an large 12 year old diesel Skoda Octavia in the country site tax, insurance, fuel, maintenance and repairs is max 200€/month (i do not pay parking fees/repairs are more frequent with my old car). in the city parking fees can add up a lot, but there you have typical a smaller car and gasoline fueled (cheaper tax and insureance). but 520€/month way to high for average german car. do not know where she got these numbers...
My cost of living example in Germany: I pay 360€ for a 40 square meter apartment with 1 bedroom, a bathroom, one Livingroom with a kitchenette and a Cellar compartment. The Apartment itself costs 300€ + 60€ for the costs of Tap water, Dustmans and stuff like that. On top i pay 100€ on Gas and 60€ on Electricity. I don't have a car cuz i life in a City called "Bielefeld", with roughly 330.000 people, so the public trasportiation is very good here. I pay about 50-80€ per Week for my groceries, including everything from Food to Toiletpaper. So it's between 200-320€ per month. For eating out / ordering food, i put myself a budget of roughly 50€ per Month. For comparison a 28cm Pizza Margerita (Cheese+Sauce only) costs roughly like at least 6€ and up to 10€. Since i only need public transportation for getting my groceries i pay like 3€ for one Ticket there and back (i dont like to carry the weight of a week of groceries over 1 kilometer ^^). For Home WiFi and Mobile WiFi, I pay roughly 60€ per Month (cuz i wanted faster wifi at home). With a normal speed of 50Mbits i would pay like 40€. But i like my 1.000Mbits. ^^ So roughly i pay 900€ for living per Month. Everything else like Clothing comes on Top, but i go shopping like only twice a year. ^^ So: Costs of living really depend on HOW you want to live. If you live in a city, dont have a long way to get to work, or you work from home, you dont need a car wich saves you a lot of money. Also, If u prefer a walk in the nature over other things like going into a club or into the cinema (like Me ^^) you can really save a good amount of Money.
"So: Costs of living really depend on HOW you want to live." This is why all of these cost of living videos about Thailand irritate me. It's the same here. 900 Euro is what foreigners on the low end spend per month in Thailand. Some do on 600 but what is life at that point? My friend easily spend 2500 Euro a month in Phuket. He has a wife and toddler. This is about normal for a foreigner in Phuket (most expensive city in Thailand). Yes, some Thai can make it with 400 Euro salary, but they live with their parent and grandparents.
You must see that the minimum wage per hour in germany is actual 12,82 Euro. And there is a 49 Euro/Month Ticket where you can travel in germany where you will by bus and train. Car costs depends very much. For myself for a new corolla pay 400 euros full insurance a year and 54 Euro tax year. I drive about 10000Kilometers a year and have about 700 Euros a year for gas
TGM is one of our customers..🤓🤣. We make machines (smokers, cooling devices, cooking kettles,...) for the food industry and butchers all over the world🤘👍
nice video guys :) interessting to see these countries in comparison! im just confused a bit, it seems like in some situations when you compare prices from thailand to germany you forget about ther difference in average income. in 2023 netto in germany was 3.045 €, in thailand 440 €. so its around 15 %. that said, if you say 15 € for cinema is expensive, but consider 5 € in thailand as cheap, thats wrong ;) 5€ is 1% of your average monthly income, so it would be 30,45 € in germany to be the same. same for public transportation. with a german income, prices seems cheap to affordable. cars... yeah insurance and fuel is pretty expensive nowadays and since here cars have to pass an inspection every 1-3 years, maintenance costs a buck or two aswell. but still very possible if you really want or have to own a car. but in general i would say thailand definilty wins in friendliness of ppl and weather :P
It's trickier then that. For example, people on very low salary don't pay rent (generational house) or if so very low like $100 which is less then 25% of their very low salary.
Meine erste Wohnung in Berlin 1997 mit 40 qm kostete 320 dm (rund 160 €). Heute bezahlt man dafür mindestens 700€.
Many of those prices were two years old. After inflational rising prices are higher. For example one liter of milk is at 1.15€ now. I think you can't compare the prices like Euro convert to Baht(?) . Someone who has monthly salary of 1600€ after taxes compare to someone who earns 2500€ after taxes pays more in relation to the wage. The train thing also is not so easy. The high fares are for those highspeed trains (called InterCity or InterCity Express) which can travel up to 300km/h. Costs For a car... in my case I have 200€ for tax a year plus 650€ for insurances a year plus maintenance plus petrol depends on your cars horsepower and cubic capacity. But not 500 a month for an avarage car. Keep going on with your reaction. Greetings to the French Canadian and the Thai wife from the German and his chinese wife 🙂
Canned peaches (No Names) 2021 for 0.99 euros. 2023 for 2.39 euros. Canned pineapple also pretty much doubled in between. Basically EVERYTHING has become much more expensive. Sauce powder even prices doubled, bolognese sauce in the glass doubled, even a little more. Cooking oil... was also in short supply at times, that happened too, a lack of products, due to the measures, some things were not delivered, like toilet paper, for example. This was not just due to people who bought everything empty, as the media claimed. Also spoke to a salesperson. Then some products became cheaper again to a smaller extent, but others no longer became cheaper and in some cases even became EVEN more expensive, such as peaches and ready meals. Some of the contents in the cans have deteriorated. Nevertheless, this may still seem cheap to some in other countries, but most of the money goes towards rent, electricity, petrol, etc. out, there isn't that much left for many people. When it comes to wealth per person, Germany is not at the top of Europe, as some would think, and pensions are low. As long as old people have to collect deposit bottles or barely have enough money to live on, it's not okay for a long time and this will continue in the future. We have the stupidest energy policy in the world anyway and very high prices, agriculture is being destroyed, etc. Well, this doesn't just happen in Germany. The economy hit the wall. Oh yes, a small note, when sunflower oil, among other things, became scarce and extremely expensive, that was planned. I noticed that in other countries sunflower oil was being sold en masse, sometimes at spot prices, even in 5 liter canisters. I saw photos of holidaymakers in supermarkets and a Pole who wrote in the comments and agreed with me, it was there too. There was actually even cooking oil with German bands for sale in other countries. If you are addicted to tobacco... How much does a pack of 17 cigarettes cost? 8 euros or more expensive? That alone consumes so much money. Tobacco isn't any better, a big part of it is the tobacco tax, I can't stop, but with some effort I can at least switch to cigarillos, they're cheaper, unfortunately not exactly healthier when smoked on the lungs... and gasoline is also taxed several times, even though it's forbidden by law or why do pensions have to be taxed again on what is already taxed income?
Things are heading in a bad direction, of course not just in Germany or Europe. Almost all countries in the world have signed the UN Agenda (2030).
