    IM 60yrs old, skinhead in 70 to 76, listening to ska, reggae, then 76 was the punk explosion, The Clash where the first punk band to mix both, White man in hammersmith palaise, police and thives, bank robber, guns of Brixton, etc, but Rancid rate up their with the Clash. Two of my favourite bands ever, R.I.P. Joe Strummer. Rancid and The Clash, now that would have been something else.

    Right after this album released I was at a friends house and he put it on. I thought it wasn't bad and then Olympia WA came on and it was a "holy shit" moment for me. The next day I rode my bike 5 miles to a local music shop and bought the album. I was 10 years old. Still remember hauling ass all the way home on a beautiful late summer day with my Discman blasting Time Bomb. Still listening after all these years.

    • @samracassar2765
      @samracassar2765 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @big smoke ....yeah eh? efinitely timeless...I honestly never understood the highly FALSE notion that punk is strictly & exclusively associated with being a teenager, or being "ideal and naive" and that there must come a time in everybody's life when they must forget about punk, and pack up their dreams....in order to "grow up" or move on and get with it and step into the "real world".....no, punk just seemed more alive to a lot of people when they were teens, because their minds still weren't infiltrated by the capitalist agenda and mental framework that makes capitalist work-structures possible. The people need to believe that they are fulfilling the nature cycles of their lives by getting a 9 to 5er that makes them miserable at a certain point in their lives.... cause someone believing in love and peace and brotherhood and sisterhood and freedom is reserved for the underage, and then once you are legally old enough to actualyl get out there and chase these things (legally) OOPS it's actually too late, cause it's time to join the workforce sonnnn....!!! This is the modern day ceremony rite of passage to being a grown man or woman---- "watch your dreams die away, burn your feelings, and work till you die so you can afford to live off a retirement"..... real fucking sacred.
      See how circular and stupid this is ? lol fuck...PUNK is TIMLESS and ETERNAL, for as long as resistance and resilience is a necessary to survival.

    I have a Listed MIA t-shirt that I got when I was 14. I still wear it to random shows and have met so many bands in it, even sometimes by accident. It also somehow is still in great condition. I think it might be magical.

    For some reason, I cannot explain, "Sammy Was a Punk Rocker" has always stood out for me in this album. Ever since I bought it when it was released I have associated this album with those lyrics. It is a very short song, but I fucking love it.
