  • As promised, here is the 2024 Red, White & Boom Columbus Fireworks show!
Now this isn't JUST a fireworks show...the festivities begin early in the day, with a huge array of food trucks along Marconi Blvd and Civic Center Drive, continuing into Bicentennial Park where you can listen to live bands...the band I caught on here for a song and a half is called Twylights, and apparently can be found here on TH-cam. They seem to do a lot of covers, but I have to say, even to the old geezer that is myself, they aren't bad at all.
But the second half of the video is dedicated to the fireworks display itself, and as usual, the fireworks do not disappoint. Great show, and I'm sure the 500,000+ people down here would happily agree.
Tomorrow I intend to do video of the annual Doo-Dah parade at Goodale Park, so keep an eye on that later today. And as always, I Thank You for Watching!

BRAVO!...That was thrilling. Great video work!....You nailed it!.......The sound quality was great too. I watched it in HD, on my Mac, desktop, with the wide screen. Colors looked good too. Thanks, again!

Thanks for the kind words. I use my iPhone XR to shoot the video, but this was the first time I attempted to shoot the video using a monopod I found at a local resale store. I liked the result.

Hey! it is much improved since the old days!.....That bad music I was referring to, is only on the televised versions they broadcast. In the past they had music on giant speakers blasting out, bad corny Americana music or lousy rock music. I am pleased I can hear the booms. Yay!

I Think This Show was Short but Overall it was a Great Show! I Hope They Bring Back Armed Forces Medley and Living in American By James brown and Needed More Armed Forces Songs. If The Display Show was 2 Minutes Longer that been good! i Hope Next Year be as long as 2022 2019 Year! Soundtrack Rating: 8.2/10 Fireworks Display: 9.7/10

One year in the early 1980s, punk kids were spraying tear gas, into the crowds. I got an eyeful, and had to have my eyes washed out by helpful, strangers in the crowd. It was super nasty and painful.

I haven't had anything like that happen here, but last year I remember someone had apparently set off firecrackers in Bicentennial Park and people thought they were gunshots and panicked...some got up on the Main St Bridge I was shooting the video on. Thankfully nothing like that this time.

Cool!..Another event I gave up on years ago. Too many people. Traffic is horrible. And I'm a purist, I hate the music,....I want to hear all the booms and bangs,....not crap music. The crowd going Ooo, and Ahh, is ok,.......but anything else,.....No thank you. Thanks for the video.

Another year in the 1980s, my friends were mugged in one of the parking garages, relieved of their wallets, and scared out of their minds by gun toting punks.

There's a pretty big police presence these days, so I haven't heard of any robberies, at least in the vicinity of the park during fireworks.

@@theodorerelic2718 Only the old folks like me and the locals, were aware of how horrible most of downtown and the surrounding streets were, back in the 1970s through the early 1990s. That is where the bums and winos lived, and there was a lot of low, low income housing, in that nearest section of Franklinton. There was the area called the "bottoms", it was a white trash slum. Bicentennial park, was surrounded by low rent apartment houses, with rooms for rent by the day. One had to walk through streets lined with beggars, and weirdos. The Ohio Penitentiary occupied most of West Spring Street up to where Neil Ave. crossed it, and to the east of it, almost up to where Front Street crossed it & there was no Arena District yet. That area was grim, no housing but mostly closed down factories, and old warehouses with bricked-in windows. And for a time that area was considered a prime location to watch the fireworks from, even though it was very sketchy over there.
