I finally started playing SM like three days ago after watching like a thousand speed runs. And the tech is way more satisfying to learn than I thought.
It really does have some of the most satisfying tech out of any game I've played; the only one that comes close for me (off the top of my head) is Celeste. I wish I could learn SM all over again because I was super young when I first played it so I don't even remember my first playthrough PepeHands

I'm pretty sure the way forward was in the half-explored Norfair and not trying to wedge Samus into a tiny space using advanced techniques.
Looks like the game expects you to find power bombs hidden elsewhere - th-cam.com/video/E33UwId3heU/w-d-xo.html , but there are also some videos of people wedging into that weird spot to get them.
This entire hack is basically the epitome of "SMILE go brrrrr".
Some people claim that there's a Thrack to blame, but we know it's Oats' fault.

I think it's funny that the way Super Metroid crashes is so predictable with the audio cutting out and not being able to load after going through a door. Gives you time to prepare for the inevitable disappointment.
As cancerous as this hack is, there's something delightfully entertaining about watching young Prince Oats struggle his way through this mess. Never let the hackers take your heart of gold, gentle prince and keep shitting on chat for that sweet, sweet mana. 🧙♂️

hey Oats! I have played this rom hack. You have to go to fight kraid, under the spike you got stuck, place a bomb near it. You will get the High Jump Boots.

@@paolo6219 You have a couple options. You could cheese the collisions to get PBs at landing site then use them until you get speedbooster, then use speedbooster to get a spike suit and use it to skip the BT fight. What I did (on console using sd2snes/usb2snes for savestates) is make a save state after the fight starts, then reset the console and load the save state. This got my past whatever crashes the audio. I don't know if the save state thing would work on emulator, probably not. It works on console because there the save state tool can't snapshot the audio state.
The last option is whatever oats did, which seems to be something related to pausing the game around when the audio would crash, somehow interrupting or preventing the crash. Maybe because it plays the menu sounds?
Damn this hack gave me headaches, this is really an example of how NOT to make a hack, even my abandoned project looks way better than this. Also, while I might be way too late, those two items Oats was after in Brinstar (the energy tank and the super missile) are a bait and an ugly one, all the blocks around the items are solid ones, so they're there just to infuriate the player.

Just for the record, the item at landing site is not required. I don't blame oats for putting this hack down. It's terrible. I just wanted to point out it can be completed without the landing site item and without using any major glitches. I used springball jumps, but even that I think I could have used ice beam instead.
Skill barely relates to progress, drives player to bomb everything, spike and crumble block spam, constant wrong sprites and empty tiles, changing the 16 damage spikes to 60 damage, awful music changes and suit palate, prone to crashing and softlocks. . .
This takes the cake for worst hack you've played. It is a true amalgamation of everything a hack shouldn't be.

I was trying old hacks and the wierd thing is i don't know what patch i have because i did it like ages ago but my varia is just vanilla orange and that e-tank and super pack are obtainable,no crash at bomb torizo,i found kraid...so maybe oats wasn't the problem xD,it was his rom or patch or who knows but i can progress to wrecked ship or continue to norfair and lower norfair...i feel bad about him but i have to admit this old stream was really fun ^^U...

I can't figure out how you got past Bomb Torizo. I tried to pause buffer when the statue stood up, but after a dozen tries I gave up.
I ended up putting the save file in a normal game of Super Metroid, beating Bomb Torizo there, then moving the saving file back just so I could get past the game crashing.

i like this rom hack. and i think it's better than 1/5 stars. think about fog metroid or what it was called... *seriousmode off*
not gonna go so far as to say I like it but there's a huge, huge, huge gap between the truly shit ass one-star hacks and this one. this one kinda sucks, probably wasn't super fun to play, and obviously suffers from all kinds of level design issues, but it's not a one-star hack against the others that have been featured on this channel.
