- Apple just released a brand new MagSafe battery pack that will work on all iPhone 12 models, however, because it works on all iPhone 12 models, it means that this is a one size fits all solution and the MagSafe battery pack looks quite different depending on which iPhone you use. In this video, I show you how the MagSafe battery pack looks on all the iPhone models including the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, and iPhone 12 Pro Max, as well as talk about what I like and don't like about this product.

As long as you use the apple battery with a fully charged phone you will love it 💯The software integration and safety make it far superior to the competition.
It's funny how the battery pack is the worst when it comes to ergonomics on the Mini, which needs it the most lol 😂

I actually find it annoying that the max doesn’t fit the entire back, but the mini is perfectly sized for the entire back of the phone to be covered. Makes for your hands not to ache as much
The charge to 90% is to protect the internal battery. It will then use the remaining battery in the pack to run the iPhone and revert to the iPhone battery once the pack is empty.
For some reason when the battery pack is on the 12 mini it reminds me of back in the day when they used to mount a space shuttle on top of a 747...
The integration is what you’re paying for with this product.

I’d rather have a battery pack that can at least charge my iPhone to 100% AT LEAST once than being able to see the battery indicator widget, a MagSafe animation, and not needing to press an on/off button. This doesn’t even give you MagSafe speed unless it’s plugged in. These extra integrations are nice to have but only if the core functionality is good which it’s not, it’s lacking in the main purpose of why it exists.. charging your phone! And yet it’s $100, cmon people vote with your wallets, stop gettin ripped off.
Anker one also charges at 5 Watts. It charges the Pro Max about 75% with Apple ones it’s about 35%

Great video. I don’t know why I thought it was thinner! That’s SO thick on the mini. The previous images I’ve seen MUST be of it sitting on the Max phone.

Honestly will buy, the integration is great, good for a 3 day travel where i cant bring a lot of stuff keeping minimal and still using as a magsafe charger. now if only it would charge iwatch
I think one point you didn’t really cover is this pack can be shared with a family of iPhones easily. So say I bought this for my Max because I always want to have it in case I need more battery life. My wife has a Pro so she uses her phone to a point she needs more I could easily give it her. Unlike past battery products it would be impossible to do because case size differences.

@@crazyCOD364 also this Apple battery pack doesn’t even have a USB power out port… which means that it even can’t charge Apple’s own products ie Apple Watch and to a lesser extent, iPad, not to mention other devices.
If you have a Pro Max and start your day with a full charge then you shouldn’t need this.I am quite a heavy user but still get through a full day easily with my 12 Pro Max.I MagSafe charge overnight whilst I sleep.I can see it being useful for the smaller ones though,especially the 12 mini.

It will sell because it’s Apple. I’ll stick with my current battery pack. May need a wire but it’s at lease 5 times the capacity and half the price. Also I can use it on my other devices, iPad, battery fans, controllers not just iPhone.
It's an overpriced piece of garbage which doesn't even provide a single charge on an iPhone 12 mini. I've returned it for an Anker PowerCore Magnetic 5K, which is cheaper ($45) more versatile and holds a bigger charge.
@@stevenvanpelt486 Apple one has a much smaller battery and from that smaller battery it’s still nearly providing a full charge. Apple has 1,460 battery capacity but it’s double the voltage than other packs.
Ok if you have a white iPhone. Would be better if they were coloured to match all iPhone 12’s.

It works great when u don’t heavily use your iPhone while using it but if u use you phone lightly or jus leave it to charge it gets the job done perfect
When iPhones battery is less than 80% and if you use Apple MagSafe Battery Pack do you feel it gets warm or produces any heat at the back of iPhone?
My iPhone 14 Pro Max is getting little bit warm and I think may reduce the better health of my iPhone.
Is it warm when charged?
Thanks for the video Greg. I just canceled my order. The battery life of my iPhone 12 is fine. I didn’t think that this battery pack was going to be so thick and ugly. Oh well, saved a 100 bucks.

There are great magsafe battery pack alternatives flying around for less than 100 bucks. Take a look at them, if you need the extra battery on the go!

Like you said towards the end of your video, I feel like it's more for using in replacement of a battery bank. Need a bit of a top-up, slap it on for a while.

It works just fine with my MagSafe Otterbox case, charges my AirPods, works as a nice flat charger for my wife’s iPhone 11 and adds about 6 hours of life to my iPhone 12 Pro.
I run my 12 Mini in low power mode most of the time anyway.

I *STILL* wished Apple made an actual battery case akin to the iPhone 11 Battery Case for the iPhone 12/12 Pro models, though. I'd buy one in no time flat.

Needs to be iPhone 12 because of the magnets.
You can buy magnet cases for older phones, but only 5W charge speed for these. Already ordered one for my iPhone XS

I love the battery pack.. of course all depends on battery usage. I only use Pro Max models.. i have the 14PM... .
2 scenarios:
one heavy usage: 9am 100% iphone 100% battery pack: doing alot of phone calls, screen recordings, sending text messages, work, email, responding to social media messages, then gym listening to music etc... by 2pm battery pack died and phone was 90% so a good 5hrs extra of battery life: by end of day 11pm or so was around 15% battery and then charged my phone that day like around 12hrs of active screen time
somewhat light usage
disconnected my phone at 3:30am 100% battery and slapped on the apple battery pack aslo at 100%
for this one the battery pack died until 5:30pm (NOT EXAGGERATING) so it was around 14hrs but this time i only had like 5hrs 40min of active screen time; so a lighter use. but still was using my phone a bit for phone calls, messages, screen recordings etc. and same thing phone was at 90% after it died.
so again, all depends on use case scenarios, but I feel if you use it with iphone at 100% it comes in super clutch .
and it's worth it if you use it correctly

Are older iPhones capable of showing battery pack percentage when charging with it?
Only works on iPhone 12
You should test the battery pack with an iPhone 11 or 10r.
Supposedly there are MagSafe cases that claim to make older iPhones battery pack compatible.
try it with a white silicone case mini please? Want to see if the witch matches perfectly on 12 mini with the silicone case on (white)!
You aren’t supposed to use the MagSafe charger to get from 0 to 100. You make sure both are charged up and keep the MagSafe battery on ur phone so it uses the MagSafes energy and by the end of the day you just used your MagSafe battery and not your phones.

Just want to know one thing. Apple has discontinued production of 12 Mini. So, if I get an iPhone 12 Mini and say within 1 year or so my screen stops responding for some reason (even though the screen is not damaged at all), will I get my screen replaced, provided my iPhone 12 Mini is under warranty. This is why I am procrastinating buying the 12 Mini.
i would just buy a 1100 iphone 12 pro max with massive battery rather then 729 iphone 12 mini + 99 dollar magsafe battery
For that price might as well get the anker one for 40 dollars and more capacity
But it is not as convenient.

Just a couple of thoughts, I’m wondering if you had two of these battery packs what would happen if you piggy backed them , yeah it’s a dumb question and probably nothing would come of it , but wait I have another dumb question .
Could you use the battery lightning port and a cable to charge another device ?
One more question , if I had a magnetic/MagSafe vent mount in my car but a non charging type , will the magsafe battery and my 12 pro max for example stick/mount to the MagSafe car mount ?
Can’t piggy back. It can charge any wireless charging device. Won’t work in a magnetic mount.
Does Apple have a design team anymore? I just get mophie cases which offer more capacity and protection. Why would people by this? I do like the 12 mini design. Reminds me of the old SE. I just got the new SE and it's battery life sucks too.

There are probably many more hidden functions available in the iPhone 12 that are locked with software such as reverse wireless charging. Hopefully after this we can unlock using on-screen touch ID after some future software updates.
Does it charge with an Apple Magsafe case attached? It would pain to have to remove your case every time you charge.
It charges with an official apple case attached. Not sure about other cases. Check out Zollotech reviews. He tested it with a silicone case

It is thick, but then you must put this in context by showing similar wireless magnetic chargers otherwise it is a not a very balanced or useful review. Other packs are longer, thicker and heavier so complaining about the size seems a bit weird especially as many on here are complaining about its capacity, wanting more!
That would be uncomfortable. It’s thicker than the phone itself. Even if I had the mini ( I have the 12 pro max) I still wouldn’t use that thing. Don’t waste your money.

OK, The reviews are good to see. It is really a personal use and time management thing though. If your phone is one hour short of battery life on a general day, find the right time to connect the pack. You don't need to keep it on, you just need to put it on long enough to give you an hour. If you mess up time management and you need to keep it attached, well that is not really Apple, that is you, and Apple gave you the option of getting through the day with a little inconvenience. If I were working at a desk for the first three hours of my day I would just leave it out and put my phone on it every time I ended a call. First world problems.

If you're going to make an update video, could you check it also on silicon case and if you put it on the desk will it stay horizontal? Also check if charging the phone full to zero makes the phone hot.

This is definitely something that Steve would never have let out the door! It is clunky, doesn’t sit right and that alone makes it flunk the Apple test! If the Mini was made a millimeter or two thicker, it would have fit a bigger battery rendering the external battery gimmick moot!

I feel like this is a downgrade from the smart battery case. With this thing, it offers your phone absolutely no drop protection. Also, the double lightning port looks super ugly.
