I'm from the Hopi reservation northeastern Arizona village of Shungopavi I too am an artist and make Hopi Silver Overlay jewelry.
These are all my relatives from Hopi...The Potter is my clan aunt from my biological fathers side Dorothy Ami, the piki maker is another auntie of mine from my step fathers side, Rebecca Namingha, she lives right next door to me, the basket maker is my grandmother and my godmother, Giselda Saufkie who's husband was the late Lawrence Saufkie both are famous artists throughout the world. The rest I can't really recognize but, I'm sure they're all also related to me in some way. These are very ancient ways of living from long ago for centuries the things that they are making, our people use them still for so many different reasons in different ceremonies, all are extremely important, precious, and highly spiritual.
One of my pieces was entered into the Hopi show and I won 1st place and didn't know it. One of the gallery the gallery owners the late Alph Secakuku from Hopi who had bought my bracelet had entered it without telling me. It was my uncle and God brother who told me after the show was all over. Alph is a very well known man and a very nice person who I sold a lot of my jewelry to. Very informative and full of wisdom. Rest in Peace Lawrance Saufkie and Alph Secakuku.
MAY THE GREAT SPIRIT BE WITH YOU ALL ALWAYS
