I love my Micans! These plants grow so quickly and are so easy to propagate. My two small plants have grown like weeds and I've taken several cuttings from it to share with friends. Enjoy your MIcans!
Thank you. I am a new plant parent (only have a few aroids, but they are alive) and once I saw these I knew they were my vibe! Kind of different and mysterious looking. I have one coming in and plan on hanging it and letting it trail near a south facing window that gets tons of light with a sheer curtain. Hope she likes it!
They are beautiful plants. If she isn't happy, she will let you know, but they are easy plants.
Micans is in my top 3 faves, and I'm blessed to have a local nursery that grows and propagates them themselves, so they're always available and always cheap :) I can't resist and usually come home with another micans every time I visit LOL.

Thanks for showing the copper colored leaves...I wasn't sure if that was a problem or not, but the leaf I have that's copper feels healthy currently so I've left it alone.
The color of the leaves has to do with the amount of light the plant gets. I love the copper colored leaves, so I try to make sure my Micans gets plenty of light. Thanks for watching!

Keep your eyes out! This plant used to be super inexpensive. Last summer I found two 3 inch pots priced at $3.50 each! By the way I found it at a local hardware store

I lusted after a Mican that I saw in an office a few years ago. I finally got a plant of my own and it is struggling. I will take your growing tips from this video and see it I can get it to thrive💚
Sorry to hear that. You may need to adjust your soil mix or check for pests. I find those to be the main issues other than over watering. I hope you are able to turn things around with your Micans. Best of luck!

I've had mine in an east-facing window throughout the fall and winter and its leaves are quite coppery on the front. I think I'm going to move it back a bit because I really prefer them when they are dark green!

Hi Peggy, I have my Micans on a moss pole and it's been living outside during Summer. It exploded with growth ! I call it my pseudo Melanochrysum 😄
They are quite expensive in SA, thankfully they grow very well and are low maintenance.
I'm sure mine would do much better outside too, especially since I would be able to leave it out year round. I have many plants outdoors that grow so well, but am afraid to leave any of my favorites out there. Maybe I will put one of my smaller ones outside. I bet yours is gorgeous! Hazel L, if you are around GTA, there are two very nice nurseries (Vandermeer at Whitby and Valleyview at Markham) that do carry Micans once in a while. And although they are not a part of a regular stock, whenever they are out the price is really reasonable 👍🏼

Thank you for sharing this video with us. Can you explain how you use the heating pad with your cuttings that you are propagating?
I just sit the container with the plant I am trying to root on the heating pad. The warmth encourages root growth.

Yes I do. I use the same pre mixed fertilizer on all of my plants, even the Calathea. I can't have any diva plants! LOL

I love my Mican too. I started to see spots on it when it hits the light. I freaked out and thought it was thrips so I sprayed it with the hose and it damaged all my leaves. It looks horrible now. :(
Spring will be here in no time and your Micans will probably bounce back quickly. Hopefully by the end of summer it will look fabulous!

.. If you let it climb a pole or give it a wodden board, you'll have a very different plant.. The more it climbs, the higher it climbs, the bigger the leafs.. No kidding.. I've seen it.. And being a climbing plant it's no wonder.. That goes for all climbing plants 🤗
I may do that with some of my Micans propagations. I love the way it looks as a hanging plant but would love to have the larger leaves. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!
Just received mine. I'm worried about its curled leaves.
If your roots are looking good, the curled leaves may just due to transition and should be fine, unless it has been under or over watered.

Those plants do not like me. I ordered two from Etsy and they both are doing poorly. Curled leaves, wilting and I have no idea what to do to make them happy. I have to keep pinching of dead leaves.
I find that mine does best under lower light conditions. I use a moisture meter to see when the soil is dry and then I water. Hope that helps. Good luck!
