Or you don’t make enough the next week or pay period to be comfortable & pay it back plus some , then your in the same situation digging yourself in a deeper whole. I had a 1996 SW wagon with over 300,000 miles on it for a while that I bought off my trade school instructor for $200. It had no rockers left, thumb tacks holding up the headliner, and holes rusted all the way through the floor. I chopped off the muffler shortly after buying it and replaced the stock resonator with an 18" glass pack. That thing was LOUD. Every Sunday I would drive by my local church and bang first gear off the rev limiter for half a mile until it started overheating. I ended up getting rid of it since I lacked the storage space and sold it to the junk man for $400. I have a 370Z now and love it to death, but that old POS wagon was extremely fun to drive in its own special way.

    I worked with STR performance to create a lot of first parts for the SC2 in 1995. Coil overs. Head an block work. A lot electronics. A lot. Built transmission an short shifter. Sounds primitive now but nothing was made for them. Carbon fiber fenders an hood. Still got my pics an still have love for the ol Saturn.

    I was so excited to watch this after watching the other one. I love Saturn's and almost bought a boosted one myself back in the day. They are stupidly reliable and get killer fuel mileage. Truly and under appreciated little car(sc1-2 sl1-2 and sw1-2. I'd love to bag a wagon 🤤

      No joke drill out the Cat and these babies can get crazy mileage, fill the tires to max psi and let those babies roll, I get 44 mpg sometimes in the winter with the cold air, SOHC but they are torquey fun motors and the cars weight next to nothing. I have a wagon

      @@coupelikeacaravan bro I want a wagon so bad! They are hard to find around here. Yeah they make good power and are bullet proof. I beat the hell out of mine when I had it. I used to work at a body shop they got them totaled and rebuilt/sold them is what got me into them. They really were under appreciated cars for the time. As good or better than a Honda imo

    Well that was different!! I worked for Saturn for 3 or 4 years in 3 different dealerships in Jersey - what a fun little car- they convinced me to get a 93 SC2 in Plum and admittedly fell in love. I wish I could remember all the mods we did- Iceman intake with K&N, home made mandrel bent exhaust (God was THAT pricey just a little gain), and then the guys at ICY racing (Inner City Youth?) who helped with Ignition changes, and a "sort of" reprogram on the PCM--- good times

    Saturn was the Japanese influenced American built future. This was the GM response to the Chrysler/Plymouth partnership with the Mitsubishi and putting American badges like eagle on talon/eclipse. Ford did similar things with the Mazda partnership. That’s why the ford probe turbo exists.

    I think you can swap Saab Turbo engines in older Saturns pretty cheaply. I know you can with the Cavaliers so probably the same. If you're mechanically inclined probably cost you like $2,000 for a Saab 2.0t swapped Saturn

    • @grahamcarlson7384
      @grahamcarlson7384 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think your thinking more of the Saturn Ions their 2.0 ecoTec was based off the Sab engines. Older Saturns sl1, sl2 with 1.9 are bulletproof can boost them stock .

    • @willriley1619
      @willriley1619 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnreusch517 Yeah but there are different Saab engines that can fit in older Saturns and Cavaliers. Maybe a little more difficult to do the swap compared to the ION, but for those who mess around in the junkyards can piece together a cheap sleeper. Saab engines are pretty strong not as strong as a Volvo turbo motor because of the head bolts but still great motors for swapping. Plenty of Saabs, old Saturns and Cavaliers at the junkyard.
