ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! Loved how you covered the technical & historical aspects. I am planning a visit to Manchester in November and this site in on the TOP of my list of MUST SEE places! Much Appreciated!
Great video! I was there yesterday. It's a shame you didn't get to see it move - that's most impressive - I got some time-lapse videos of it both slowly tracking and repositioning. Hearing those powerful motors kicking in is also most impressive. There's also now a new part to the visitor centre - a large dome shaped "history of Jodrell and Lovell" (exactly the same size as the telescope's dome) and a stunning 5 projector fully immersive video experience (I can't recommend THAT enough!!) One minor correction - you can't get to temperatures below absolute zero as that's the same as saying going faster than the speed of light - I'm sure you meant to say just above absolute zero (about 10 Kelvin or -263 degrees Celsius in Jodrell's case).
Thankyou for this video brings me good memories. I remember my dad taking me here i must have been 7-8 in 1994 i always remember it being jodrellbank. Didn't know they changed names in 1999
Very informative and great video. You sould have contacted UMIST and asked for permission for a flyover during the maintainance.. For anyone who is vaguely interested the wiki link for pulsars is here :- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulsar
Amazing video, my great grandfather was the lead structural engineer on this so I'm so happy to see people still taking an interest in this telescope!
That is absolutely amazing.
I went there on a school trip about 25 years ago. Loved it :)
