I would love to see the Pokémon Company re-release a single Pokémon Red/Blue remaster in a Pokédex shaped/themed handheld similar to Nintendo’s Game and Watch
I think the switch perfectly captured console players and handheld players. I hope they keep that gimmick because it definitely worked. If they could just make it more powerful, I don’t see a reason why they should change much with it. I like having the option to take it to go

GBA has one of the most solid libraries ever, from just about every genre (minus horror). N64, has so much less to offer, by comparison. It’s a shame really that they went with N64 since they can’t even get those Roms to looks and run properly lol.
@@flyingplantwhale545 I have been infatuated with the n64 since I can remember. it was the first console I ever owned, but as I age this sentiment becomes more and more true. @@scoopstacey3112 I don't think the library was so thin because the console was "experimental". It's just that the devs didn't want anything to do with Nintendo's bone-headed decision to go with their expensive cartridge format which was severely lacking in space. Playstation was simply the better console to develop for.
I like the idea of the Nintendo Retro Console that runs on the eShop. Seems like a smart opportunity, would make them sueing all the Rom sites actually have a meaning

THAT BRUNCH DISCUSSION IS PRETTY INTERESTING! DEFINITELY WITH WOOD ON THIS ONE! BRUNCH IS ONLY UNTIL BEFORE LUNCH TIME. ANYTHING BEYOND LUNCH TIME SHALL BE CONSIDERED AS LATE LUNCH AND NOT BRUNCH.
The Wii U pad had the charging prongs at the bottom, as Wood said, because it came with a charge base out of the box. Most people never bothered, and used straight cable to the pad, but I always used the base because having it docked there looked better.
As Reggie himself mentioned today, very few times has a company gone from one full success to another. It's only happened 3 times NES to SNES GBA to DS PS1 to PS2 So the odds are against Nintendo for the Switch 2 having a good time all the way through.

They definitely use HD rumble a lot more than you think. It is just that it is not this big gameplay focus. In Legends Arceus, all of the strong and agile move has a HD rumble feedback and you get a feedback for when those rifts appear too. It is not something you need HD rumble but it does enhance the experience more than standard rumble.
They need to make a switch pro around 500-700 that can play all switch games and exclusive switch pro games. @25:13 The Wii U was designed to be a DS but for the home exclusively. Not a bad concept on paper, but a lot of games were fundementally made worse because they really pushed this design narrative a little too far. If you go back and play Starfox Zero and think about whether or not it would work better on the 3DS instead, you'll see this.
Im not gonna lie Black ops 2 on the Wii U is still one of the best FPS experiences ive had. Wii U was such a good system. They shouldn't have made the pad the focus but I loved the games that utilized it properly. Zombi U, Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Black ops 2 and Ghost to name a few. And I'm one of the few that like Star Fox Zero. Just wished there were more control options and an actual multiplayer instead of the garbage they gave us and the god awfel Star Fox Guard.
Game and Watch wasn't even the first generation of nintendo gaming consoles. it was their second. Their first generation of consoles were the Game-on-color-tv consoles that each came with like 5+ games built into the controller board. But Wulff's right on about the timeline. 1975 they transitioned toward video games.
Maybe it's a good way to play modern triple A games. But I have the luxury to play games on pc. So I would never pay €60,- for a cloud based game with compression artifacts.
I could go on and on about 3DTVs, but I'll keep it simple: viewing 3D programming on a 65" LG OLED E6 or C6, the last year for 3D sets, is breathtaking. Do it.
Love this, what Bob was talking about a small pocketable nintendo console, that is really what I want more than anything. I've had nintendo handhelds since I was about 4 years old when I got a Gameboy Advance SP, and I have had every nintendo handheld since, every one of them had fit in my pocket until the switch. I was very upset about it when it first game out, I got one anyway but it took a long time before I actually liked it. It made me so mad when the switch lite came out and it was still too big to fit in a pocket, I want a pocketable nintendo console again more than anything! Would absolutely love it if they came out with a switch lite revision with a clamshell design.
Am I the only one who wants a dedicated Switch home console. It feels so flimsy to dock this game console tablet to hook it up to the big screen. I play 99% of my games on the TV, so obviously it would be good for me, I just wonder how many others would use a Switch home console. My best case scenario would be they come out with the next Switch like the current one, handheld with a dock, and then maybe 6 months later have the home console option come out for ppl like me. But Of course make it more powerful, please can we finally get trophies and UI customization options(every device on Earth lets you change the background to whatever plus themes, c'mon Nintendo), backwards compatibility will be so freaking important so that's a must(due to the insane Switch physical collecting scene and the Switch limited physical games collecting), and if it's not too much trouble, include a controller with a proper d-pad and analog sticks. Those joycons are a slap in the face to those of us who grew up with an NES, not just the Joycon d-pad is awful, those sticks are as bad to me as the N64's. Just put the NES d-pad on a Pro controller. Heck, put the Switch Online SNES controller's d-pad on it, that's my current go to controller for 2D platformers/games.
I can see Nintendo leaning heavy into AR content in their next console. They dabbled with in on the 3ds and with Mario Kart Home Circuit. Now you can scan your back yard and build your own course, build your own Mario level in your living room with AR blocks, may an AR headset or glasses. Seems like something they could and would dive heavy into.
They could have adult make a small retro handheld that is hooked up to an online store and can download any of the old ROMs; Nintendo, SNES, N64, GB, GBC, GBA, GC, NDS, 3DS, and each game can be Dow loaded for like $10-30 OR just have a monthly subscription for their Retro games for like $15/mo
I think Nintendo should take a page from Asus ROG flow z13; Wanna play on low res or just indie games - go handheld, wanna play AAA games at hi res - go dock mode; I know this would make the price higher - but I feel thats gonna be the better option, than one device that holds all the power. 🤔🤔🤔
Kinda seems like this podcast is about getting their frustrations of Nintendo out from what I gather Even though they are still big Nintendo channel gamers
I don't know why I focused on the 2 connected controllers with mario64 in the console... even with zelda next to it doesn't help. Toss over Fzero or something. Nit Pick satisfied. Loved the Pod.
The Wii U had a good idea, but some multiplats performing better on PS3 and 360 was a really bad look. And Nintendo's ip simply wasn't half of what it could've been. One new Zelda that co launched on the Switch, Super Mario 3D World being the big 3D Mario, underwhelming launch lineup (New Super Mario Bros. U, Nintendo Land having some single player only minigames and no online), bad Mario Party, no real animal crossing, no Metroid, smash with no story mode, critically bashed Star Fox and Wii Sports Club just being the first Wii Sports with added online. For not having much third party, it should've done more with it's first party. But they probably realized because of low sales, it was better to push stuff to Switch.
In the launch window? a Mario game? Almost every home console has had a Mario game either on release or within the first 6 months of release. Portable consoles they've been more hit and miss. I think the Switch is the first home console to not have a Mario game in the first 6 months of release. I'm including Remakes/Remasters and side games (Luigi's mansion) in that count. Fun fact Nintendo Hasn't released a proper third party title since 1988. I don't include the Nintendo educational games as proper third party titles (last one was in 1994).
Does anyone know why there is no Yellow or Gray switche lites in stores? I can only find blue, turquoise and coral . I want it for my kids birthday and I cannot find gray nor yellow :(
Wood isn't wrong. Our phones get signals from outer space. GPS receives info from sattelites the pin point our location. And that's also pretty awesome!
I know I’ve of the ports on the bottom of the GameCube was used for a Game Boy plaster attachment. It came with a disc to put in the top, then you’d plug a Game Boy or GBA cart into the attachment and could play it on the screen, similar to the Super Game Boy for SNES. I actually use that all the time to play Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission now lol
I feel like I have to point out that he wasn't wrong about phones getting signals from "space". The GPS signal is coming from satellites in orbit, several of them at once even.
I have to say that after all these years Super Bomberman R is still one of the party games we always play. Solo story was awful, but playing with 4 friends is just so fun. Also, regarding features that don't get used... it bothers me that not even Nintendo doesn't use the touch screen, not even for in-game menus. Related to the new Nintendo Switch, it should keep the 720p screen but have a better SOC to have good 1080/1440p 60 frames, and joining with AMD for the use of Super FidelityFX could be interesting. I don't see them going the road for SSD and I don't think Nintendo will put many storage options out there, at least at the beginning, so 128 internal storage + SD card may be the best way to go. WiFi 6 please because the current WiFi chip sucks.
the miyoo mini is pretty much the best feeling gameboy emulator on the market rightnow, but i agree, if nintendo brought back the gameboy and had small indie teams working with the big IP and bringing forward a lot more retro styled games like more pokemon in the visual style of emerald and heartgold, this would satisfy the fans and allow for lower budget games to be produced easily! im buying it
If there was an "open" HD rumble pack for developers to use and modify, it'd probably be used more often. I don't know how challenging it is to program that stuff so maybe for normal devs, who are used to just length of rumble or intensity of rumble it is too much.
My prediction is that the future of Nintendo will include another attempt at VR games. They have the IP's to make this a success too. Question is, can it be affordable!
The switch format looks almost perfect for VR with the joycons and all, but the problem with that is I don't see what vr games they can make with handheld hardware. Most good VR games now need beefy pcs and overly complicated rigs to run at all.
Why could I so see Nintendo being "nostalgic" "touching their roots" and the gimmick actually being playing cards. They'll be like Amiibos and have the wanted rarity booster whatever and holographic art of a Pokémon card. So to get powerups bonuses and add ons to games gotta get the cards.
I don’t think Metroid prime 4 is getting released anytime before holiday season of 2023, retro studios is still looking to hire a ton of technical animators, modelers and a lot of programming/art posititions, I don’t think a game that is nearly done would ever need doing that.
I would love to see the Pokémon Company re-release a single Pokémon Red/Blue remaster in a Pokédex shaped/themed handheld similar to Nintendo’s Game and Watch

I could go on and on about 3DTVs, but I'll keep it simple: viewing 3D programming on a 65" LG OLED E6 or C6, the last year for 3D sets, is breathtaking. Do it.
24:59 Woods response right after Bob asked what did he like about WiiU….🤣🤣🤣diiieeed!! It’s like he really had no words.🤣
I also always loved the Wii U gamepad. Playing Nintendo land with my friends was peak party games.
Good episode, but you should get a mic for whom ever speaks off camera or repeat what they said.
I love Wulffs joke "I'm not a Parker, Ima Wulff.
this podcast is the DEFINITION of "I didn't know I needed this until right now."
Bobs wrong, the first game and watch came out in 1980 and donkey Kong was 81
Am I the only one who wants a dedicated Switch home console.
Great podcast, guys. I am a huge Nintendo fan and listening to this podcast feels like I've returned home
I love your mix of personalities on this podcast.
I think Nintendo should take a page from Asus ROG flow z13;
Wanna play on low res or just indie games - go handheld, wanna play AAA games at hi res - go dock mode; I know this would make the price higher - but I feel thats gonna be the better option, than one device that holds all the power. 🤔🤔🤔
Loving the podcast guys. Just now getting to it.
27:03 is what you are here for 🤣...Followed by 30:38 and 31:38 and 34:40 and 51:15
Kinda seems like this podcast is about getting their frustrations of Nintendo out from what I gather
Even though they are still big Nintendo channel gamers
Those two new ir scanners can now detect both my nipples.
I… am one of the Bomberman R Stans… I honestly like the franchise so much for no reason
It's great to see you both working on a project together!
This podcast is forreal really good. I’ll admit I only watch either of you occasionally but this podcast is fire.
I don't include the Nintendo educational games as proper third party titles (last one was in 1994).
please we need to talk about the emulators on the switch, love the podcast, love you all, much love !
You both are my favorites! Can't wait to see the bonus episodes once I get money to pay you for it.
I feel like I have to point out that he wasn't wrong about phones getting signals from "space". The GPS signal is coming from satellites in orbit, several of them at once even.
It's not often I agree with Bob, but I like the idea of the nintendo switch dooky.
Brunch start with B so Breakfast comes before lunch. 2pm would be Linner.
the miyoo mini is pretty much the best feeling gameboy emulator on the market rightnow, but i agree, if nintendo brought back the gameboy and had small indie teams working with the big IP and bringing forward a lot more retro styled games like more pokemon in the visual style of emerald and heartgold, this would satisfy the fans and allow for lower budget games to be produced easily! im buying it
i would love a metal jesus cameo on this show
If there was an "open" HD rumble pack for developers to use and modify, it'd probably be used more often. I don't know how challenging it is to program that stuff so maybe for normal devs, who are used to just length of rumble or intensity of rumble it is too much.
Just FYI: Our phones DO recieve signals from space. Its called GPS
The ads and volume on Spotify is too annoying for me. I'll just listen on TH-cam when I get time. Hope quality improves
Love the podcast so far! But would you mic Kim please?!?! I would love to hear what she's contributing 😅
I own 4 switch docks, I really hope whatever their next console is maintains the same physical dock interface
The space phone had me rolling, hope this keeps up enjoying it!
I don't usually watch podcasts. But this one I like
30:49 Disappointed that Bob never made a reference to Roman at this part.
My prediction is that the future of Nintendo will include another attempt at VR games.
They have the IP's to make this a success too. Question is, can it be affordable!
Yeah I could see that coming after another switch, with everyone getting into VR.
The Quest is more affordable than the current switch so yes I think there is a high chance this could happen or at least should.
The switch format looks almost perfect for VR with the joycons and all, but the problem with that is I don't see what vr games they can make with handheld hardware. Most good VR games now need beefy pcs and overly complicated rigs to run at all.
Introducing Nintendo Labo 2.0
Anyone know the hint thing bob was talking about at the beginning of the video
Why could I so see Nintendo being "nostalgic" "touching their roots" and the gimmick actually being playing cards. They'll be like Amiibos and have the wanted rarity booster whatever and holographic art of a Pokémon card. So to get powerups bonuses and add ons to games gotta get the cards.
I don’t think Metroid prime 4 is getting released anytime before holiday season of 2023, retro studios is still looking to hire a ton of technical animators, modelers and a lot of programming/art posititions, I don’t think a game that is nearly done would ever need doing that.
