Same for us, my husband and I decided not to celebrate traditionally this year as well. To us we don’t wanna lie to our kids about Santa , we don’t want them to feel obligated to follow the crowd and go crazy shopping for one day just because everyone else is doing it and
we also shower our kids with gifts and goodies year round! We are non traditional and that’s okay!

Even though Christmas, Easter etc aren't mentioned in the Bible and their histories may have pagan roots, there is nothing wrong celebrating them merely, as a commemoration of Christ's birth, resurrection etc. as long as the celebration (as in traditions) doesn't conflict with biblical scriptures. However, if that's your personal conviction, that's okay too.

I haven’t celebrated the “traditional” Christmas in years! I’m retired, and my grandchildren range from an adult to the youngest in high school…so I have no remorse about avoiding the “Black Friday” through New Year’s Day shopping hype.

I still remember the traditional as a child with our family gathering for dinner. Most our family members are decease, so we don't get together anymore. I respect everybody decisions on what they want to do. Praise God and many blessings upon your family.
I use to celebrate and grew up celebrating. Raised my kids in the same house I was raised in. I got saved. I found out it’s a curse and pegan.
Called 1800- got junk they took all the Holiday trash away.

Now I’m in a house 5x that size,modernized,pool, house off road paved driveway sitting on 5 acres. God takes care of his own, we just have act like we are his. Give up all the stuff that he hates and he will grace you for your obedience and sacrifice.
I think that it is great that you all are teaching your best gift to know Christ and love, not the pressure of buying in the Word of commercializing stress and debt for one day that is supposed to be reprsent Love,joy and happiness!

For many years, the holidays have been extremely difficult for me. There have been serious issues in my family that led me to completely separate from them for many years. The abuse has impacted me from childhood until now and eventually drove me into homelessness and deep depression. The dysfunction is still there and is worse sometimes because my Mom has a form of dementia. I’m spending more time with them now like this past Thanksgiving and today, Christmas. I have mixed emotions about it and praying I can guard my heart and mind.

It is not about paganism. According to my research, Christ was born in October. The reason why his birth is celebrated in December, is when the wisemen found Jesus, bringing Gold- for Kingship, frankincense- for worship, and myrrh- for death and mourning. Jesus Christ is our Savior. Why not celebrate. By the time the wisemen found Jesus he was about 2 mos old. So we celebrate his birth in December. It is about fellowship with love ones and friends. If you are so depressed because we cannot buy gifts, we need to examine ourselves. Because the holiday is about Jesus Christ' birth not about the toys. Nevertheless to each its own. I am with you. We grew up celebrating it but now about 15 years I haven't celebrated knowing the truth that it is a pagan holiday as well. Everyday is a gift from the Most High Yah. We get together with family on non pagan days. We have a sister-cousin day once a month to cook and sit around laughing and talking or going out bowling or something different days of any given month. As our grandbabies get older we will have cousin day to play games so they can be closer. Our Saturday is spent keeping the Sabbath Day. We get in The Most High's Word as a family unit. Good for you'll, my family and me haven't celebrated Xmas since the mid 2000s. It's a pagan holiday, and Yashua (Jesus) was not born on 12/25 but a pagan deity name Tammuz was. NO one knows Yashua's birthday because it isn't important, it will be uncomfortable for the first few years, but we replaced it by visiting the beach, or touring a new city like D.C. We are spending time with family and have not completely given up the "normal" Christmas traditions.....yet. We are having discussions on creating our own traditions, however.

Do your research and find out why Christmas was established and the traditions behind it. Follow the example of Jesus by showing love throughout the year. Get together with family throughout the year. Give gifts to one another throughout the year. It's not something Jesus would approve of.
People that go all out spending thousands of dollars buying gifts, getting into deeper debt, running up their credit cards on the holidays. It's very sad.

*Yes to the Christmas tree, presents and baking 😊
*Christmas Eve I read from the Gospels about the birth of Christ Jesus and the kids hung ornaments with a scripture about Jesus - they also read the scripture before hanging it on the tree
*Red Velvet Birthday cake 🎂 for Jesus
*We sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and the kids blew out the candles
*the Red Velvet represented the redeeming 🩸of Jesus
*the White cream cheese frosting represented the cleansing of all sin making us white as snow
*I used Green icing to write ‘Happy Birthday Jesus’ - green for the abundant and eternal Life we have with Jesus

Last year our family decided we wouu us ld not do the gift exchange this year. Soooo, we adopted a family. I love love, love Christmas and still celebrated by having our Annual Pajama Party on Christmas Eve. We ate, played games and enjoyed family and friends (just didn’t exchange gifts).

What's sad is people making this synonymous with childhood. No one is depriving their child(ren) of anything by not celebrating Christmas, Halloween, or Easter, or believing in the tooth fairy, etc. If your kid(s) can't have an imagination and great childhood without those things, THAT'S quite sad.
