In this second Halloween Special we're taking you on a tour of horrific events and foul deeds that took place in the Cotswolds! Where else would you like us to visit?
Witchcraft? I don’t know with all the animals and stuff that was around him. I would have assumed. Druid! And obviously the throat and crossing his chest, he was killed by Christian
I have watched both parts of this Halloween Special and thoroughly enjoyed them. May I also add, Mr Cotswold Explorer. You have a great voice for horror...
Just discovered you and so glad I did. Your story telling ability is superb, your voice has the perfect cadence and intonation. The editing and video composition is first class. Sir, more stories please ! Kurt Knapp
Very enjoyable viewing, thank you Robin and director Arrowsmith. The walks 🐕 with Widget in the dark rural streets allowed for a suitable cold and lonely atmosphere.
Thanks again. Just watched both parts. I wrote an essay a few years ago on the supposed lost art of telling a tale. Some people have the gift, some don't. You definitely do have the gift. Not sure if it is the presentation, the accent, the writing, probably the combination of all three. Thanks again.
"I hope you enjoyed these horrific tales" is a worthy ending of a masterfully told story. 🙂 You have a new subscriber from Switzerland and I consider myself very lucky to have found you!
I love these Halloween Specials they are brilliant and the voice of the narrator is just mesmerising, fantastic voice for story telling and poetry -Oh P.S I am Mrs Goosen using my hubbys account hee he he
Putting aside the dark side of the Cotswolds, I think that this region of the United Kingdom is one of the most beautiful and quintessential you will ever find, and that’s in a country with so many wonderful and diverse areas of natural beauty and man made towns and villages. I was lucky enough to be brought up in the smallest county, Rutland, and if you don’t know where to look you would never find, without any guidance or detailed map, some villages and hamlets tucked away in the Rural idle that is Rutland. Thanks for sharing these wonderful stories with us all, absolutely perfect for Halloween and informative as well. My first taste of your channel and definitely a thumbs up 👍👍 and I am now subscribed. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴 P.S I am surprised that William went straight back to his burglary after two years in prison, my impression of jail in the 1800s is pretty grim, extremely squalid with little to none in the way of ablutions, sloping out daily, overcrowded, smelly, vermin infested and extremely brutal prison guards, I personally wouldn’t have wanted to go back in jail again, especially if my impression of conditions is anywhere near the reality.
I LOVE to listen to your spooky tales so much! Absolutely magnificent you are with your stories, all the history and the pictures etc and I love that you film with your dog. Everything you do is perfect for a spooky night of listening. Thank you!
Superb again! Brilliantly and so skillfully presented and narrated by you Robin, bravo 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😊👍👍 but….I need more still! I am addicted and hunger….for….more of these true ghost stories. Please 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 more 😄😊😉
Have you ever considered doing a video on Burnt Norton near Aston Subedge? The estate is best known for being the inspiration for T. S. Eliot's poem of the same name, but has a tragic history also.
Always look forward to your uploads. I live in Canada and if I were to ever visit England it would be to this part of the country because of these tales. Happy Halloween all and thank you Robyn.
The first story where the young wife Harriet murdered her husband Thomas. She didn’t mention another man, but wrote how her husband was tempted by Satan, which would indicate that he was an abusive husband. The poor orphaned child 😢 I wonder what happened to their child.
24:45 the surgeon died in 1833 but killed his wife in 1864? Just wondering about actual date. Also were cameras that well used as to suspect on being planted across the street from a house on a sign?
You Sir, were born to tell Creepy, Spooky stories :) You should really start a separate channel for telling of olden day, historical hauntings & oddities.. so you can join on my Playlist of True Crime & Spooky story channels!
Matthews was carrying the modern-day equivalent of £40k but Jones only made off with £3.5k of that after murdering him. I have so many questions... Definitely not the brightest bulb in the box.
The witchcraft terror that occurred on both sides of the Atlantic has always made me very sad. A man has a way with animals, or a woman knowledgeble about healing herbs had to be evil witches because "only God can heal or has the submission of wild beasts." God could heal, so a person who could heal had to be a bad witch. Senseless.
HaHA! A death notice in poetry! I might do my eulogy that way, but it will be funny! But poor lady, a laborer is a hard, crappy life. If she thought she could better her and her kid's life by marrying the other guy, it's no wonder.
Hung by the neck until you are dead, why did they say until you are dead. I h have thought about it and haven't come up with an alternate end yet. I know they hung people until nearly dead then stretched them and finally just to be sure quartered/disemboweled them. Love this stuff thanks.
If you leave cooked rice out it grows a mold that contains arsenic. If the pudding she bought was already old it most certainly could have poisoned him w/o Harriet ever meaning to poison him. She could have been innocent.

Witchcraft? I don’t know with all the animals and stuff that was around him. I would have assumed. Druid!
And obviously the throat and crossing his chest, he was killed by Christian
I can’t get over how talented Robyn is with the telling of spooky tales. I’d love to hear him read M.R.James or even Lovecraft.
This man has the masters voice for story telling.
Or Tolkien.
So true 👏 I hope he gets a lot of voice-over and narration work offered as a result of these outstanding shows.
The perfect voice for this type of narration. I am a bonafide fan!

Love it. All the good ghost stories and footage of the locations without the stupid staged ghost hunting bit afterwards.
Very enjoyable viewing, thank you Robin and director Arrowsmith. The walks 🐕 with Widget in the dark rural streets allowed for a suitable cold and lonely atmosphere.

He's definitely talented, but I agree that the fact that it's filmed on location, the production quality, really increases the effect.
The buildings look spooky
Yet another set of intriguing tales, Robin. Excellent filming and story telling. Compelling viewing. Great stuff.
You have the best narrator voice ever. I just throw on a video and am lulled into some kind of otherworldly place.
I just love this channel!

Very enjoyable....
So true
What radio can I tune in to listen to your stories? Love your Halloween stories. I was born Halloween in 1945.
Hello from Kalama Washington USA love ❤ your stories
What about the time that David cameron moved into a house in the Cotswolds ? Surely that's very scary for the neighbours...
The first story where the young wife Harriet murdered her husband Thomas. She didn’t mention another man, but wrote how her husband was tempted by Satan, which would indicate that he was an abusive husband. The poor orphaned child 😢 I wonder what happened to their child.
Superior Halloween fare. Many thanks.
Great ghost stories love them
Very John Hurt sounding ❤
Hello! I like to visit places of natur around the City.
Thank you 😊
Wonderful.
Very spooky , well described by robin 👻
Niceeeeee i was living in witney for 10 years
Again how hate and fear plays a role in murder,in the first story.
What breed of dog is your companion?
24:45 the surgeon died in 1833 but killed his wife in 1864? Just wondering about actual date. Also were cameras that well used as to suspect on being planted across the street from a house on a sign?
You air need to be a reader on Audible!! Perfect voice!!
I would LOVE to live in the English countryside.
I can highly recommend it.
Interesant !!
Charged in 1864 died in broadmoore in 1833...🤔

For someone that couldn't write, she did a really good job of knocking out a rhyme about her very own execution. Hmmm?
They talk about Chicago, Baltimore...North Korea for God's sakes!...but it sounds like the truly most dangerous place is...The Cotswolds.
I like the hat.
He made £200 at the market in the 1760s...that's over £42,000.
I would watch the next, but just have to change my trouser s.
Matthews was carrying the modern-day equivalent of £40k but Jones only made off with £3.5k of that after murdering him. I have so many questions... Definitely not the brightest bulb in the box.
poor William 👍

Wait; Richard was charged with murder in 1864 but died in broadmoor in 1833? o_O
HaHA! A death notice in poetry! I might do my eulogy that way, but it will be funny!
But poor lady, a laborer is a hard, crappy life. If she thought she could better her and her kid's life by marrying the other guy, it's no wonder.
Why is there no Turkish subtitle option?
@10:10 - That's an astoundingly long "confession" for someone who couldn't write, and who gave birth to a daughter, not a son.
Hung by the neck until you are dead, why did they say until you are dead. I h have thought about it and haven't come up with an alternate end yet. I know they hung people until nearly dead then stretched them and finally just to be sure quartered/disemboweled them. Love this stuff thanks.
Chipping Campden is a town,not a village.
These criminals were not very bright.
A camera in 1852? He went to trial in 1864 and died in an asylum in 1833. Amazing.
Don't drink the tap water here...whatever you do!
If you leave cooked rice out it grows a mold that contains arsenic. If the pudding she bought was already old it most certainly could have poisoned him w/o Harriet ever meaning to poison him. She could have been innocent.
1835 it's 2022 what's that got to do with the present day
An insane surgeon??!
❤👍🌎.

I don’t understand how you can got to school and learn to read, but cannot write.
I don't believe any bullshit such as that👹
