What is a MAF Sensor?

What is a MAF sensor? Welcome to Mercie J, where compassion and craftsmanship come together. I'm Rick Smith, master certified technician.
So first of all, for my friend Larry, MAF stands for Mission Aviation Fellowship because he was a pilot for them. In the automotive repair industry, MAF stands for mass airflow sensor and it's one of the key things that the computer looks at to determine how much fuel goes into the engine.
So we typically have approximately 15 parts of air to 1 part of fuel. So with the computer knowing how much air is coming in, it can use that as part of the information to determine how much fuel to put into the engine.
