I think 2008-2010/2012 were all outstanding seasons in f1 that no one will forget who wached it. As i only started in 2017 im so sad i wasn't around for those seasons but i also woulndt remember much as i would have been still in single didgits of age
Just finished watching it and gotta say it is a must watch if you’re fan of F1, fan of any well made documentary. I remember watching 2009 season as a casual fan, but never really appreciated the dynamics of Jenson and Rubens, and all team politics, within and without. This is a story of unlikely heroes and their ups and downs; the Cinderella story that everyone wishes for, realized! Great host in Keanu Reeves, great music and video production. Thank you
He done a fantastic job interviewing. the enthusiasm mixed with the slight unprofessionalism every now and then (swearing in his little improv scenes of Team Principles talking etc😂) was perfect and so infectious. Story was told very well and the perfectly funny representation of Ferrari in it as well. Brawn could never of cheated when he was their winning all the championships with Michael and Ferrari. but must 100 of done it at Brawn 😂. I think Brundles summation of the Brawn car was spot on. I'm sure this legal loophole is why they really wanted him onboard, after Merc, to write the technical rule stuff On a sidebar. I loved the whole idea from that time he announced it at Silverstone and he spent the day, in fp1 , in the pissing rain at the fastest part of the track, just loving it

I watched it last night and I enjoyed it a lot. Even though they locked up both championships after Brazil I was kinda confused as to why they didn’t really talk about Abu Dhabi
I’m not a DTS F1 fan and I watch every session on a race weekend so I consider myself an old fan. I’ve watched Brawn with a great deal of skepticism. It really is very well done. Most of the sides are represented in the story with Bernie and Max even getting a say. Definitely worth the time to watch it.
I absolutely loved Keanu Reeves attitude towards the whole thing, how seriously he took it, I know he was adding some flair with his swearing and improv bits but it was so refreshing to see a celebrity who maybe doesn’t know as much about the sport as the hardcore, hardcore F1 fans genuinely try and do it justice. You could just tell by the way he had his notes and his desire to immerse himself in it the amount of respect he gave, that he actually wanted to make this about the sport and not the celebrity BS that has crept into just being on the grid pre race for PR purposes.
it was a wonderful series, i loved every bit. And yes, Keanu sometimes went over tht top, American style. But i think it adds contrast. Keanu was genuine. He did not restrain himself and that is why this Doc' is a masterpiece. It is genuine. It was made by a fan (keanu) for the fans.
I stopped watching when Schumi left the first time. DTS hooks people hard including me and I am even more hardcore then I was in my in teens. So it has its place even though it's a bit cringe.

It really was fantastic. I did not watch 2009, but I'm so glad this was created. Brawn really was a once-in-a-lifetime team, and as a newer mega f1 fan im so glad I got to look back and see how it transpired. Even better when you dont actually know how its going to end and you dont google spoilers!
Why be surprised that Keanu is an F1 fan? He co-owns Arch motorcycles and is a big bike race fan. He’s a collector. And just one in a long line of action stars that love racing.

I watched this today, all four parts and I thought it was great and well done. If your not an F1 fan you can still watch and have an understanding of F1 since things are explained about the sport non fans may not know.

I loved it. The interviews with the old staff were fantastic and gave you a sense of how up against it they were. I agree the thing that I really wanted at the end was to see how the team morphs into Mercedes. But maybe that’s another doco.
I actually watched the entire series, and it was way, WAY better than I expected it to be. I do like that it shined a light on the FOTA - F1 split as well, which I feel would make for such an interesting what-if scenario.
I really enjoyed the series and thought Reeves did a good job hosting it, though one of my personal highlights was listening to my mum, who watched most of it with me, hate on Bernie Ecclestone every time he popped up! Can't say I blame her, really, especially after learning about the shenanigans he got up to with Brawn and FOTA in the run-up to Silverstone! It was quite a nostalgia trip in some ways. Obviously nine/ten year old me was not particularly focusing on the behind the scenes in 2009, I was just watching the racing (though I do remember reading a BBC article which said that Lewis Hamilton had considered quitting F1 in the wake of Liegate, and of course I remember Massa's accident), but still, seeing Barrichello and Button as teammates, a young Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren, Felipe and Kimi in the Ferraris, etc, etc, was really nice.
My only problem is the lack of Seb. I think they must of just not asked him. Seb loves F1 to much to miss this. As a massive Jenson fan I actually really like how they were honest about his struggles. He definitely proved his worth as an F1 champion in 2010-2012 and even 2015 beating Alonso that year.
Williams and Toyota came up with the same concept at the same time. When 3 teams come up with the same solution it's not cheating, it's reading within the rules differently. The only real surprise is none of those 3 teams had Newey
DTS need to take some serious notes. So done with the fakery in that series (even the crowd noises are fake.) This show was, by comparison, authentic and still hugely entertaining. Loved the Brawn vs Bernie storyline.
Rubens is probably right about Button getting more attention from the squad ( after all Button had already been apart of the team for 3 years before Rubens came along in 2006 )

Small correction it was the first year it was BACK on BBC. Watching since mid 70's the Beeb is where it stated out before going to ITV. DTS is dreadful I didn't even complete Episode 1 of Season 1. Hope this Brawn GP Story is better, my son has also recommended it so it must be pretty good.
@@LawVS LOL yeah I know. I still remember when the best we got back in the day was often a 40 minute highlight show tucked away on BBC2. You'd get Silverstone (or wherever British GP was being held) and random races through the season. It was so patchy. Fleetwood Mac's The Chain was the only constant from about 78 or 79 if I remember right.

The hybride engine development doesn't belong in this story. It does deserve it's own documentry thow. The transition to Mercedes AMG could be mentioned at the end but does not belong inside the 2009 season succes story of Brawn GP.
The difference is that the doc was made by people who actually enjoy F1 for what it is. DTS is made by people who are trying to make F1 something else.

Oh boy, some of the team principals don't come off good in this at all. The Ferrari guy comes off as a massive sore loser, and Horner, contrary to his rather tame and friendly image in DTS (unsurprising since the show was initially meant to be centered only around RB) looks barely better at times and doesn't do himself any favours. Great show, thanks a million for the recommendation.

@@LawVS What I hate the most about DTS is not even the fake edits like team radio or the made up drama, but It's the thing that the episodes have no order. One episode is the 10th race about Ferrari and next episode is 3rd race about Aston Martin. It's not so bad if you don't follow F1 during the season, but as a fan who watches every weekend even at least half of the practice sessions, shitton of YT videos, articles etc. it's just so awful to watch. And then you keep expecting there will be something interesting you kinda noticed during the race weekends about a team, and you finish the last episode and realize they didn't mention that team once in the whole season. I understand that when the season is not as interesting as years like 2009, 12, 16, 21, it's harder to make it more interesting so more people get hooked, but I just wish to have a great recap of the season with some interesting behind the scenes footage you don't usually see on either TV, internet or social media and some great commentary and insight by the drivers, team principals etc.

The worst things about Drive to Survive for me are - the formulaic episode structures; driver doing bad, reflection behind the scenes, people around him talking about the risk he's under, then him triumphing somehow. The obviously manufactured conversations with trainers etc. Lewis saying over and over "It's game on", the sneaky editing, the mechanics putting their heads in their hands after every overtake or misfortune, Christian Horner's home life, etc etc. The best parts of Drive to Survive - Uncensored team radio, especially Tsunoda, Daniel Ricciardo's magnetism, the endless Haas soap opera, the Yuki and Gasly bromance, and that, embarrassingly, it got me back into Formula 1 after a lapse of a few years. It's sort of like junk food... you know its poorly made and you could do a lot better, but it's irresistible sometimes.
Wonderful documentary, brings back many memories. I was never a Brawn fan, and JB would never have won a WDC on his talent alone. Unlike Damon Hill, who had to fight tooth and nail for his. Ill leave it there. 👍
I thought it was good, but far from perfect. Very interesting subject and Keanu is clearly very passionate about it, but he needs to stop interrupting the people he's interviewing. Also, I think he tries a little too hard to be overly-dramatic sometimes (or maybe he just talks like that normally, idk). 7/10

On one of his recent videos talking about Las Vegas low track temperature, he said he got his license by 2006-2007 i think, and drove all the way to Barcelona with his father to watch a Pre-season testing on winter (he compared how cold was that day with how Las Vegas could get). In this day and age this was a very controlled and well presented series with good production value.

If Disney made a show even worse than the Netflix guys ones, that would be the end of Disney. Especially with all the Drama going around with the actors and "changed messages" of their new films.
This was a very credible series.

The lineage of todays Mercedes is pretty incredible. Tyrrell, BAR, BAR/ProDrive, Honda, Brawn, Mercedes.
Technically it never left or was present under the silver paint for another four seasons.

Small correction it was the first year it was BACK on BBC. Watching since mid 70's the Beeb is where it stated out before going to ITV. DTS is dreadful I didn't even complete Episode 1 of Season 1. Hope this Brawn GP Story is better, my son has also recommended it so it must be pretty good.

@@LawVS LOL yeah I know. I still remember when the best we got back in the day was often a 40 minute highlight show tucked away on BBC2. You'd get Silverstone (or wherever British GP was being held) and random races through the season. It was so patchy. Fleetwood Mac's The Chain was the only constant from about 78 or 79 if I remember right.
It was better than i was expecting but there were still too many errors, like showing the wrong track at the wrong time etc
It's an improvement over DTS though. No fake commentary.

The hybride engine development doesn't belong in this story. It does deserve it's own documentry thow. The transition to Mercedes AMG could be mentioned at the end but does not belong inside the 2009 season succes story of Brawn GP.
Yeah I get that, but it would've been nice to learn more of the closing of the Mercedes deal.

The difference is that the doc was made by people who actually enjoy F1 for what it is. DTS is made by people who are trying to make F1 something else.
DTS probably DID start off that way, but then the stats came in and quotas had to be met.

Oh boy, some of the team principals don't come off good in this at all. The Ferrari guy comes off as a massive sore loser, and Horner, contrary to his rather tame and friendly image in DTS (unsurprising since the show was initially meant to be centered only around RB) looks barely better at times and doesn't do himself any favours.

@@LawVS What I hate the most about DTS is not even the fake edits like team radio or the made up drama, but It's the thing that the episodes have no order. One episode is the 10th race about Ferrari and next episode is 3rd race about Aston Martin. It's not so bad if you don't follow F1 during the season, but as a fan who watches every weekend even at least half of the practice sessions, shitton of YT videos, articles etc. it's just so awful to watch. And then you keep expecting there will be something interesting you kinda noticed during the race weekends about a team, and you finish the last episode and realize they didn't mention that team once in the whole season.
I understand that when the season is not as interesting as years like 2009, 12, 16, 21, it's harder to make it more interesting so more people get hooked, but I just wish to have a great recap of the season with some interesting behind the scenes footage you don't usually see on either TV, internet or social media and some great commentary and insight by the drivers, team principals etc.
Although I not watching yet, but I'm sure Keanu Reeves is great actor and Brawn GP is great one-season team! 🇬🇧✊

The worst things about Drive to Survive for me are - the formulaic episode structures; driver doing bad, reflection behind the scenes, people around him talking about the risk he's under, then him triumphing somehow. The obviously manufactured conversations with trainers etc. Lewis saying over and over "It's game on", the sneaky editing, the mechanics putting their heads in their hands after every overtake or misfortune, Christian Horner's home life, etc etc.
The best parts of Drive to Survive - Uncensored team radio, especially Tsunoda, Daniel Ricciardo's magnetism, the endless Haas soap opera, the Yuki and Gasly bromance, and that, embarrassingly, it got me back into Formula 1 after a lapse of a few years.
It's sort of like junk food... you know its poorly made and you could do a lot better, but it's irresistible sometimes.
DTS has its place in the world of F1 nowadays, but we could do with some more concentrated F1 documentaries on the side.
Wonderful documentary, brings back many memories.
I was never a Brawn fan, and JB would never have won a WDC on his talent alone. Unlike Damon Hill, who had to fight tooth and nail for his.

I thought it was good, but far from perfect. Very interesting subject and Keanu is clearly very passionate about it, but he needs to stop interrupting the people he's interviewing. Also, I think he tries a little too hard to be overly-dramatic sometimes (or maybe he just talks like that normally, idk).
