I'm playing this game on Linux. FPS is high and it hasn't crashed yet like it has for my Windows friends but it does have some bugs. One thing that isn't bugged, it is beautiful.

If you use Rufus, and you have an 8 or 16Gb flash drive (ideally, one that's fast) then you can download any Linux distro you think you might like and use Rufus to create a bootable flash drive from the ISO. From there, simply boot from the flash drive. You will literally have all of Linux on your PC running but without doing anything to your PC hard drive/Windows. You can download 50 ISO files and try each one. It's a good way to find out if Linux supports your specific hardware.
Windows is a Good 30% of the problem. they FORCE all those background programs to watch everything you do and then eat up the bandwidth of your ISP sending it back to HQ. taking up system resources while doing it :( If I knew anything about linux Id hop ship too! sadly while Im not completely computer illiterate, Im no genius either...

I so want to continue to play this game but my FPS are so bad it takes all the fun out of the game. Upgraded ram to 32GB, and now time for SSD and CPU. I just need to find the right one.
Depends on what you call "good" I personally enjoy it and I know many in the community do as well. I often use SC as a means to relax as the game is slow, it won't adrenaline shot you the entire time like CoD
@@zenithquestor I concur with Arutemysu. I bounce between a couple of game loops. I like doing cargo hauling to relax, playing space Tetrix with the boxes. I like scavenging for gear in the hostile sections of the distro centres since 4.0 had a full wipe and I needed to restock all my stuff.

Its just an animated in game company ad for a ship you can either pledge money to their continued development for (which is one of the only ways the game gets funded) and own it, or earn the ship in game. Something SC has done for 12 years when they create a new ship/vehicle for the game (at about 171 vehicles in game now). The ship ad trailer officially came out a week ago but for some reason IGN is just now rerunning this trailer.

It's crazy. It's almost as if this game IS an alpha build, and it hasn't reached the point where optimizations and bug fixes are practical. Sure there's something to be said about the development time taking as long as it has. But the reality pill everyone needs to accept is that despite the time, it's still very clearly in its alpha stage, and if they're going into it, they should expect the level of polish of an alpha. Because that's just what it is.

I challenge you to justify that. Development taking longer than expected doesn't equal a scam. The game's playable, it's huge, it does things no other game is capable of doing, what part is "scam" to you?
