    • @DuncanCustomAirbrush

    • @DuncanCustomAirbrush
      @DuncanCustomAirbrush  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I thought about that, but it comes out so fine and I wish I would have let some of it react longer before I stopped the reaction with peroxide

    It's a super cool technique, but keep in mind that direct bleach weakens the structure of the fabric fibers. The heavily bleached areas will very likely develop holes sooner or later.

      So true! I have a bleach dyed sweatshirt that has cool tie dye patterns done in bleach but it does have a small hole forming on the elbow where bleach was more concentrated. 😅 I mean, it actually lends to the entire distressed look but overtime I know there will be more.

    • @DuncanCustomAirbrush

      Depends in what type of automotive paints:
      •urethanes - urethane reducer (usually medium temp)
      •Createx - they have their own reducers, or you can use Windex with ammonia
      •Alcohol Inks - nothing, but you can use 91% or 99% Isopropyl Alcohol

    I've been making bleached t-shirts for a few years, now. My first was... 2016, I think? 2015? Anyway, yeah: it is way cool!
    You do want to be careful not to OVER-bleach, which can damage the fabric. I've found that out. But if you're careful not to over-do it, the bleach will NOT damage the fabric; it will simply be nice, soft cotton all the way through: no plastic-y iron ons or stiff silkscreen paint, that can crack or fade.
    I mostly work with stencils that I've made, and a stiff 'stencil brush', to pounce the bleach on with. I have used an airbrush for other painting techniques, but have not tried it with the bleach, yet. I may try that some time.
    I've also done more free-hand styles like you did here, but with a brush, rather than an airbrush. As you noticed, the process is somewhat weird, because the results are on a couple-second time delay. You don't see the results of your application right away, which can make judgements of where the next stroke is going difficult, which can lead to wonky proportions, as you found out here. But working slowly, allowing each brush stroke (or pass with the airbrush) to "appear" before applying the next one, with patience, can yield very nice results.
    Different color fabrics will make for different colors of bleach designs. Different brands will be different colors, depending on which dyes they're using. Like yours here, when I work on black, it usually turns out a brown, golden tan sort of off-white color. But different brands might use a different "black" dye, so may have different results- maybe more of a blue-ish color. Purple usually bleaches to pink; Primary blue to a light blue, etc. Yellow is already a light color, so bleaching it does not make for a strong contrast, but it can be done. I usually stick to black, with a few blues for fun, sometimes.
