The "audible" is built into the play, meaning there's always a specific play concept built in as a safety valve in case the defense is defending the primary read. If it's a pass then there can be a "hot read" where Brock should look to throw immediately after the snap in order to beat a blitz, if it's a run then they "can" or "kill" the initial gap the blocks were going to set up into a different blocking scheme, e.g. from the A gap to the C gap. If you have ever heard any of the playcalls you know that the verbiage is several words long, e.g. spider 2 y banana deadpool mabel jet trips (not a real call but close enough). Built into the play is the answer; one route will be a man coverage beater, one a zone beater, a hot route to beat the blitz. At the line Brock can make an adjustment that's built into the play - canning or killing might trigger a different route tree for a specific receiver. Nobody had a problem with this last season or in 22 when Brock took over and the offense was setting records. The struggles right now aren't tactical (audibling into a better play) but strategic (teams deciding to play man coverage WAY more than before and taking away the easy YAC opportunities) and personnel-based (the personnel are injured or aren't doing their jobs).
