I bought a '63 Impala 409 QA block (400 hp) when I was 16 years old for $350 from the original owner. I went in the Navy in 1975 and unfortunately my mother sold it for scrape in '78 for $25. My heart was broken because I really loved the car. My brothers removed the engine and transmission before it went. The 409 stayed with us for many years in different cars (Nova and 68 Camaro) until it was sold 10 years ago. Got 10K or the engine. Still have the Borg Warner Super T10 transmission somewhere. Thanks for the video, it brings back fond memories.
My dad bought a '63 Chevrolet Impala 409. Mom wasn't to happy. It would haul you. One time Dad had it up to 115 mph. Mom was really mad 😠 !!!! 👨Dad. kept it for 21 years. It was well built.
Most of the dealer presentations for cars on You Tube I don't care to much for. However, this one is pretty nice. You took your time and explained about the car and especially the engine. I appreciated that. This is a beautiful example of what they were like back in the day. I had a 63 283 convertible and a 63 409 340 horse auto. You mentioned all 300 horse engines got the tach except I have seen many without over time. It was an option. It may have been standard on the 400 + 425 engines since they were 4 speed only. It should also have a chrome dipstick, half way down, with SS 409 stamped into it, as mine did. I loved that car but life happens. I hope you spend the time on the next one too. Nice job.
You didn’t have to sell this car at all because it basically sells itself. But you def added a special touch and good honest opinion to it. Takes us back to a simpler time. I’m 27 years old I own a 62 as my daily. It’s def an out of this world experience :)
Love it.. gaps and moldings perfect… it’s amazing how many of this same year I see redone and the hood lip molding is like un even with the eyebrow moldings.. and it’s an easy fix lol they dump like 20-30k in car and leave the moldings all out of wack.. lol this one is perfect my ocd never activated… I want a base model convertible with the dual side moldings with the bel air rocker moldings wich I feel just set it off, mine will be silver with a white top, 13’ supremes, 1.25 inch white wall, 2 inch lift in back for a little rake, silver and white guts with the SS patterns on the front and rear bench seats, I will have one…💯
Only one carb has a choke. So there is only one choke heat tube. One tube is the inlet and the other is the out line which is the hot going to the choke. Look at 9:40 .
this made me laugh as I am personally seeing it for the first time (this video predates my time with Fleming's) and the Italian thing is funny because Tony is actually Jewish! lolol!
Your full of it twice as much? Don't exaggerate nice car the big expense was the 409 ss package wasn"t that much convert top was extra but there were alot of them i owned one and a hard top both ss
Too bad Gm did not the yet have the 3 speed hydo behind these motors instead of the lazy off the line powerglide . No wonder the Mopars were cleaning them up at the drags.
Here's something... I have always thought that as far as styling was concerned, the '60 to '64 full-sized Chevys were by far the ugliest cars I ever saw - _BUT,_ outside of the Corvette of the time, these model years offered _the fastest, most powerful, and most radically tuned_ stock Chevrolet powertrains going!
I Would Take Any Classic MOPAR GM Or FORD Product Over Any New UGLY lexus or toyota TRASH The World Was A Whole Lot Better Without The Sight Of Eyesore Ugly toyota & lexus On The Road

First time My friends and me snuck into drive-in we was in 66’ Olds 98 trunk. Having a trunk release button in glove compartment helped too
Same exact color and interior as mine back in the day 👍🏻
