I’m from Frankston Texas, Anderson County. I joined 2001, did several tours. My best friend killed himself after we came back from OIF 2nd deployment. This song means so much to me.
This song is incredible, you guys fucking rock. You are not just good musicians, you guys are incredible musicians. I don't know how many times I've played this on the jukeboxes in CT but it went from just barely heard to everybody asking who I played to me hearing everybody else playing Stone, Virginia, Ballad Of A Southern Man & Broken Window Serenade all within 2 weeks of the first song I played. It took other great musicians much longer to get to that point, but Whiskey Myers music is very meaningful, incredibly produced and incredibly performed both in the studio and live in many different ways, acoustic, harmonica & even with an accordion. All of those songs are over the top in every version... there wasn't one that isn't enjoyable!
When I played this live with Only a lead guitarist for my only show ever last week I thought I did it ok to maybe really good. Then I watch this. They do it with such ease. I now know I tried way too hard on the vocals. Learning is a beautiful thing. This band is why I still play . True inspiration
You can hear The South in that voice,if I've ever heard it! Wished he'd got more aggressive, with that song! If anybody knows how to play this song? Damn, that was a genius little run,I thought! Pretty crafty!!!
You gotta get it yourself man. Figure it out. Chop it up in sections.. Study it.. Everyday.. You'll play it better than Mr. Jeffers if you stick with it

Grew up in Palestine and Tyler long ago. I'm so sorry 🙏
Love this song! I had a brother kill himself at 20 years old. I really relate to this song. Thank you!
I feel you 130% brother. To many people in my life gone before 40. I can barely sing this or “gone away” without cryin
Your a hero bro. I don’t know if I’d have the balls.
Jeffers is such an underrated guitarist. Saw em live last year and the dude can fuckin shred

Fucking amazing song. The riff they borrowed from Metallica kills it in this song.
Anybody know where I can get the chords and strumming the guy on the left is doing
