Pritchard is right Hogan was far more relatable at the time. Hogan was talking to mean gene and the Hulkamaniacs when cutting a promo. Warrior seemed like he was talking with the voices in his head
That is the only time I have ever heard about Randy Savage preferring the commentary booth! I have seen him (in a rare shoot interview) Talk about how he went to WCW because Vince wanted to put him out to pasture on the commentary booth. Yet savage thought he had a few years and another main event run in him. I’d love you to make a little video explaining how the situation seem to revers. Where it went from Savage being begged out of retirement.. to savage leaving.. because he doesn’t want to retire! Did Savage spend a couple of years thinking one way and then completely reversed his position? If so no wonder Vince McMann was perplexed at savage not wanting to stay in the commentary booth
as far as i've been able to gather, savage legit wanted some time off to try for a baby with elizabeth and mend their relationship. that never worked out, especially when that whole incident of her "running away" while in miami with the bolleas happened. she was already halfway out the door with that relationship so try as they both might, it wasnt going to work anyway. i think its when the divorce went down that savage wanted back in the ring to put over the new generation. lanny wrote that randy came up with a 2 year long feud he could have with shawn michaels that would culminate in him getting beat and permanently retiring to the announcer's table but pat patterson shot him down saying he was "too old" and vince took pat's side in that. hence why he jumped ship to wcw. and if those rumours about stephanie mcmahon have any truth to them, it could also be another reason why savage left and why vince tried scrubbing all mention of him post-retirement.
The kayfabe back then was magic!!!! It made you want to watch. Wrestling today is boring because instead of putting on a show….. they are trying to pass it off as an actual competition. Bring back characters…. bring back kayfabe.
The WWF did Warrior no favors by how they booked him as champ. Rude was a great opponent but how many times did they wrestle? It had rounded the circuit before the Summerslam match and they were still touring after Summerslam. Then all the six man tags with the no longer Road Warriors (because there can be only one Warrior) then a quick feud with Savage before dropping the strap. He needed more opponents that were credible.
Actually from the court documents online, It was said that one of the straws that broke the camels back in dealing with Warrior was that he brushed off/told a kid fan to %}*€ off when asked for an autograph backstage. The kid turned out to be the son of a major tv station manager who cut their deal with WWF over the incident. Vince then forced Warrior to make a videotaped apology over the incident which he did. Though it caused resentment with Warrior (who claims the incident never happened) and that was his last straw from that and the low pay he got at WM7 which then lead to his letter to Vince (which he also mentions the videotaped apology.)
3:21 Warrior fell into the trap that guys like Deisel fell into. He had what it took to get over and had all the talent around him, but WWF found a way to muck it up. Warrior could have faced guys like Earthquake and could have faced Macho Man sooner, but WWF was more interested in getting people excited for a Hogan return, making Warrior relatable, and saving Macho Man for Wrestlemania.
As a kid, I idolized Warrior way more than most fans did for Hogan. Warrior was gritty, intense, and acted the part of a wrestler. With time, there are many stories of his attitude towards other wrestlers, along with his in-ring lack of experience. It's a shame that things didn't work out in the long term, even though his gimmick wouldn't have been as creative coming into the next era of wrestling.
Hard to explain, but as an adult I can see the Ultimate Warriors limitations. But as a kid, when his music dropped and you saw him running to the ring, it made you jump off your seatvwith excitement. The heel would clear the ring whilst warrior would be out of control shaking the ropes. As a kid you knew it was going down and the other guy was in trouble!

The way warrior died after he finally agreed to be incucted into the hall of Fame is so suspect... Wow. You got to remember that Warrior legally changed his name so finish couldn't use it to gain money... There was some very personal beef it got real nasty... Hul Hogan and a couple other people were in Vince's office talking about personally and purposely hurting the warrior by breaking his legs in the ring... 😮😮 Then all sudden he comes back and twenty-four hours later he's dead?? It does not work like that!!!
I totally see now why Warrior felt he was stabbed in the back. Vince should not have given into the terms initially and then turn his back on those terms later bc it didn’t suit him. Shame Warrior and Vince couldn’t figure something out.
I believe so. Vince was very agreeable in his letter, accepting the terms. Warrior put Vince in a corner though, so that on top of perhaps Warrior's attitude, Vince was done. It actually is a very similar situation to the screwjob in 97. Bret signs his deal, Vince needs to back out of the deal because he can't pay Bret, Bret agrees, then Bret becomes hard to work with for his last 30 days because of creative control, hence, not dropping the belt to Shawn.
@@RealAlphaDrum Not hard to work with at all. He had reasonable creative control and legit reasons for not dropping the belt to an unprofessional junkie like Shawn. He even gave Vince a list of people he was happy to drop the belt to right after.
The Ultimate Warrior was a hell of a character but really wasn't a good wrestler by any means, he wasn't a Sting or a Rick Rude so hewas very lucky to be at the right place at the right time, so for him to get into that type of attitude of holding up the company for money was very shitty at that time. Don't get me wrong I grew up loving the Warrior but now as an a adult nahhhh.
I was never a big fan of either Hogan or Warrior. I felt the bigger guys like them only had a handful of moves and once you saw them wrestle once, you'd seen all they had to offer. Smaller guys like Savage, Bret, Perfect, and Piper were more intriguing as they seemed to have more to offer in the ring than the big guys. I wasn't watching full time until late '91/early '92 and I got into the characters of Taker, Savage, Bret, and Piper and the lead up to WrestleMania VIII was exciting. I was thirteen and still very much a mark. Vince handled the Warrior ransom situation the way he should have. I was overjoyed when both were gone from WWF TV in late '92 and into mid-93. The only time I was intrigued by what Hogan was doing was in '96 when he had just turned and formed the nWo in WCW with Hall and Nash. After having seen Hogan as a big babyface for years, I thought seeing him as a bad guy was really interesting. I have read that Hogan wanted to go heel in his late WWF run, especially after losing the title to Warrior in '90. I wonder how that would have played out and who he would have allied himself with.
Because Vince was treating him literally like a piece of property and controlling every facet of his life.Anyway Warrior was easily the biggest thing in professional wrestling and was worth every penny he asked for

@@KliqDon1983 are you joking? Hogan can say that at Multiple Wrestlemanias including 1,2,5,6,18 and possibly 19. You can argue 3 that's what drew the card and what most remember except for aficionados who say Savage/Steamboat
Hogan was a snake and lime light stealer. He was the best and worst thing to happen to the WWE. The amount of times he tried to steal the limelight and robbed people of wins and titles. He stole a Royal Rumble win from Mr. Perfect, WW6 you would have think Hogan won because he stayed in the ring at the end longer than any loser. Warrior got robbed of the rematch with Hogan for a boring Sgt. Slaughter-Hogan storyline.
@Se Se says who? I ve read books of retired wrestlers that say Hogan was very gentle with them, never had accidents.
Please mention names of those who say that they were afraid,MOST wanted to work with him bc it was a great payday.
And Hogan wanted to give as many as he could a shot at great paydays, but he also knew who he could work with and make a match believable...I think you are bs ing us.

WM6 was the first one I ever watched so it will always be my favourite WM.
Congrats on 600k
Love these types of videos. Great job as always
Thanks!
Warrior knew his value. He had every right to go after more money. He had every right to renegotiate his contract.
& Vince had every right to fire him lol

Another great video!!! This series is fantastic.
Excellent video, really well made! 👏👏👏👏👏
Pritchard is right Hogan was far more relatable at the time. Hogan was talking to mean gene and the Hulkamaniacs when cutting a promo. Warrior seemed like he was talking with the voices in his head
Ultimate Warrior beating Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 6 was a huge victory. My childhood favorite!

This channel does a great job.
The kayfabe back then was magic!!!! It made you want to watch.
Wrestling today is boring because instead of putting on a show….. they are trying to pass it off as an actual competition.
Bring back characters…. bring back kayfabe.
7:05 clearly he had someone else write it.
On one of the Something To Wrestle With podcasts, Bruce Prichard let slip that when Warrior was champ, WWF was busy lining up new opponents for Hogan.
The Road Warriors became Legion of Doom so WWF could trademark the name, it had nothing to do with there already being another Warrior.
Love these documentaries Sam.
These are much better videos then shoot interviews
Do you have a link to the autograph story? I heard Warrior broke a lot of kids' hearts who wanted autographs.
@@michaelm2673 if you have A&E, their recent bio on Warrior actually shows him recording the message for the kid, and his frustration having to do it.
@@_jordanslyricReally? Thats what I that was about? I was wondering what that scene was.

Warrior fell into the trap that guys like Deisel fell into.
And Shawn michaels first tittle won
Had they let Diesel beat Hart at Royal Rumble! Things would have been better!
Ill never understand why Vince didn't give the belt back to Savage instead of to warrior or to slaughter
Paybacks A B
Warrior's gimmick inspired the next era of wrestling.
Warrior was a special attraction, he wasn’t ever built to lead the company that’s why his reign as Champion faltered.
@Alex Kanyima as WWE Champion he was
@Alex Kanyima the Ultimate Warrior was a great upper mid card talent but he didn’t have what it took to carry the company,
@Alex Kanyima there’s no one to blame it’s one of those things, they pushed Warrior and it didn’t work, it’s that simple.
@Alex Kanyima lol that’s all you have, I lived through this era I know exactly what happened
@@Bobbywoodhogan you're right warrior was a shitty wrestler with a nice physique. Besides that exaggerated entrance he couldn't do much in the ring.
The soul survivor team in 1990 would have worked if they didn't buried the heels or just made Hogan and warrior super unstoppable

I have a couple of questions regarding Hogan and Warrior's Wrestlemania VI match: Was anybody hoping that Hogan would win ? was the ending below par?
Hogan did win unnoficialy like he always did and it was a shit show of a match
Hard to explain, but as an adult I can see the Ultimate Warriors limitations.
But as a kid, when his music dropped and you saw him running to the ring, it made you jump off your seatvwith excitement.
The heel would clear the ring whilst warrior would be out of control shaking the ropes.
As a kid you knew it was going down and the other guy was in trouble!

Warrior was great. Did his job. Just like Hogan! We all got what we were looking for. End of story!
You should do the main event to Barely Legal. The company's future hinged on that match and Raven was able to bring it home with seconds to go.
All wrestlers should give promos as diplomatically worded letters.
I just imagined CM Punk dropping his pipe bomb...with a scroll.
Vince sent him a letter two months before the match saying he would pay him. Warrior was holding Vince up for what he was owed.
Very good and well written.
Sid made Hogan look like a real life Tonka Wrestling Buddies Toy.
Then all sudden he comes back and twenty-four hours later he's dead??
It does not work like that!!!
Vince faced wild waves back then but he was successful and became stronger after each wave

Sad
I totally see now why Warrior felt he was stabbed in the back. Vince should not have given into the terms initially and then turn his back on those terms later bc it didn’t suit him. Shame Warrior and Vince couldn’t figure something out.

Is it ransom when Vince originally agreed to a deal, and took the deal away?
I believe so. Vince was very agreeable in his letter, accepting the terms. Warrior put Vince in a corner though, so that on top of perhaps Warrior's attitude, Vince was done. It actually is a very similar situation to the screwjob in 97. Bret signs his deal, Vince needs to back out of the deal because he can't pay Bret, Bret agrees, then Bret becomes hard to work with for his last 30 days because of creative control, hence, not dropping the belt to Shawn.
Sounds like Vince has broken a lot of promises over the years.
Even if Warrior said things he shouldn't have, it doesn't change the fact that Vince is a douche
Vince paid the money, then said he’d agree to the other terms...
...then later reminded Warrior a contract signed under duress isn’t binding.
@@RealAlphaDrum
Not hard to work with at all. He had reasonable creative control and legit reasons for not dropping the belt to an unprofessional junkie like Shawn. He even gave Vince a list of people he was happy to drop the belt to right after.
It’s not like Vince McMahon is a saint. Pro wrestling promoters have always been shady as shit.
I love the years summary I was maybe 4 or 5 years old when this happened.
When Savage hit worrier with the septor that was shoot hardway for real right? I bet he got a concussion.

Great work guys
He even lived his life outside of the ring as a warrior. I really admire that about him. I've never seen him back down from anyone in the ring or out.
True, he has no fear of Vince, who was known to force wrestlers to humiliate themselves for money.
Ultimate warrior will always and forever be my hero that man was amazing he was so fucking cool

3:39 One might think; and yet some of us felt he was speaking for us and to us. Always Believe
