I remember a kid at camp saying he heard we could blow hot chocolate into the campfire and it would ignite... so about 12 or so of use all got together and filled our mouths with hot chocolate mix, got in a ring around the fire and we all blew it out at once. OMG it made a ignition into a mushroom cloud that rolled up into the air. It was cool.

I use Corn Starch and Powder Sugar for my fire blasts. I can usually get 3 good blasts from a mouthful. I have been able to get blasts of about 5 feet long and 2 feet wide from this. the only downside is that it is very messy and you will go through a lot of water to get the remaining corn starch out of your moouth. But it does work very good.

As I recall it was a pretty green colored fire ball and that other metals have different colors. That is why fireworks are so colorful. Im not sure that a mouthful of powdered metal would be much better that corn starch tho. Love the show. Keep em comming. Al

This is how I learned fire breathing, really the thing to be aware of is to really research everything possible before trying it, I haven't heard of someone using cornstarch and having it travel back along the mist and catching them on fire but there's always a chance of that happening when you do this trick, so if you are wanting to try it please do plenty of reading up on it, practice the spray until its perfect, and have someone nearby to put you out if the worst would happen. Be safe!

This is really late and you have probably already tried this but coffee creamer does work, not as well as cornstarch because it absorbs more water in your mouth but it does taste a lot better than cornstarch so there are pros and cons.

There is a danish saying (I don't know if you also have it abroad) about the impossibility of blowing and having flour in your mouth at the same time.
It is usually used about when you try to do two things that are incompatible at the same time and end up having to choose between the two.

Cornstarch wont effect your skin on its own, if the trick would mess up there is always danger of actually catching yourself on fire, with other fuels it can travel back along the stream of fuel and catch your skin on fire (I havent heard of this happening with cornstarch but there is always a chance) so no, cornstarch is fine for your skin but if you are thinking of trying this trick please do lots of research first and be safe!

    Hi Brian,
You said you can do (traditional style) fire breathing with anything but toxic fuel..
Have you ever tried PureFire bio lamp oil? It supposedly has the same qualities as lamp oil (which I use for fire breathing) except that it is vegetable based. They claim you can even drink it!
Just wondering if you had any experience with it.
Corn starch looks fun, I'll probably try it out (I know you told us not to, sorry ;) ) but getting your mouth full of white goo seems not so nice for performances... Oh well, health above aesthetics of course!
