As we age, I think it's important to remember that none of us have perfect skin! We can have dry skin, oily skin, acne scars, wrinkles, etc. and that's ok! I'm learning to enhance my confidence by realizing that makeup isn't going to hide all of my imperfections, including my dry skin, acne scars, and eczema. I'm still beautiful with texture on my face and it makes me unique! Therefore, my most important advice is don't expect your makeup to look like everyone else and know that you are beautiful and unique as well!

Allie, his reaction was just precious. I lost it when you turned around since you are usually so classically put together. These lessons are great. At 72 years young, I still love to put my skin care on and to enjoy the process of putting on makeup. I don’t expect to look 40 again, but to look the best I can is so empowering. I truly enjoy your content. I look forward to more Ravie Beauty in our future. Be well…enjoy your amazing journey. You have earned all the great things coming your way. ❤💄

I agree with every tip except the smiling for blush one. If I were to do that to my moms face, her blush would be around her mouth in a relaxed face.
As for blush, I believe in trial and error and test blush placement for your own face. For me it is just a tiny bit below the nightlight area, and pretty far back.

I adore you Allie! You are not only one of the absolute best at teaching us how to make our makeup look its best, but you also feel so comforting and real; like you're sitting down with a best friend who always hypes you up. You and Johnny Ross have re-awakened my love and passion for make up after losing all my skills from not wearing it for a long period of time due to chronic illness. I'm hoping to gain that confidence back in my outward appearance by learning how to make it look it's best again.

Absolutely love this series - it's so informative for all levels of makeup usage.
One video idea may be how to fix mistakes just in case you make them (too much blush, messy eyebrows, etc.)

Can you do a deep dive into bronzer vs blush placement? I feel like I end up placing them in the exact same spot and essentially just blending them together. So what's the point in using two products?

    • @jeanams07
      @jeanams07 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

I know this is 8 months later, but I am just seeing this video so I am just seeing your comment, and thought I'd give a little insight since Allie didn't respond.
There are actually a lot of option of where you can place your bronzer and blush depending on you face shape and the "look" you are going for. If you do a Google search for "blush and bronzer placement diagram", and then go to images, there are lots of options that will show you what I am referencing. But if you want to make it the least complicated as possible, and have it look the most natural, you want to replace what happens to your skin naturally. So for bronzing you want it to look like you are replicating what you look like when you have been out in the sun all day and have gotten a nice tan. And for blush you want to place it where you naturally get extra rosy after you have been out in the cold for a bit in the winter, or done some exercise in summer. So for the cheek area you would apply the bronzer just every so slightly below your cheek bone area blending upwards onto your cheekbone and into you temple and then your blush would be applied ever so slightly above your cheekbone and blended down onto the cheekbone, and brought into the inner part of the face just a bit more than the bronzer.
So to answer your question, while they do overlap eachother by being blended into eachother over the cheekbone, they don't get applied in the exact same places, and bronzer gets applied a bit more wide spread than blush. Also, if you think about how we tan and blush naturally, they do happen in the same parts of the cheek area and face but you can still see a distinct difference.
      I hope this helps!

I also think it’s important to note that people should do their makeup in a way that makes them feel beautiful and confident. Like looking natural is great and all but I love being a little more bold. I feel beautiful with a blinding highlight and and a bigger pop of blush. There’s ways to be bold without looking like a clown. However, if looking like a clown makes you feel beautiful and your best self then do it. Makeup is such a personal thing and how you feel in it is most important.

One tip that I have found for anyone trying different formulas and trying to figure out what looks good and works for them, is to buy mini sizes when possible. And most people don’t know that is a law that you can return makeup if the shade isn’t right or you just don’t like it.

I really appreciate you reenforcing that contour and bronzer are not the same! I get so excited when I hear a brand is coming out with contours only to be disappointed because they're really giving us more bronzers...
The Elf contour wand in the lightest shade is an actual contour and I love it (even despite the packaging), but even in this range not all the shades are contours! It really bothers me! LOL

I love this series!! My biggest makeup fear is two fold. First, it’s putting together an eye look with a palette. I have so many pretty ones that I don’t know how to use. Second, is adding blush and lipstick that all goes together with my eye look. I never wear lipstick because it so intimidating. This year I am hoping to learn how to do a my lips simply ... like a nice polished look. Looking forward to more of this series!😊

Love this new series! My biggest fear is breaking out after trying something new. Like many, when I started to develop acne as a teenager, I desperately tried to cover it with foundation and concealer. YEARS later I discovered that my base products were making it worse. Since then, I’ve gotten my skin under control and am able to use a powder foundation without breaking out, but I turned 31 this year my skin is starting to change. The powder foundation isn’t looking as nice anymore and I need something to help with texture and slight discoloration under my eyes, but everything I’ve tried so far has broken me out.

I feel like over the years I have become more and more confident in doing my base makeup and a lot of that confidence is because I have been watching your videos and taking your advice. The eyeshadow is where I struggle. I can recreate looks if I'm watching step by step tutorial but the end results never look as good and I struggle so much knowing what colors to pair together also color scares me even though I think it is so pretty on others.

Thank you SO much Allie for doing this series! It has helped me feel so much more confident applying my makeup! 💖🙌🏻 I think one of my biggest struggles is with eye makeup. I am blonde with blue eyes. And without mascara you cannot see my lashes at all. I know some say not to apply mascara to the lower lashes because it ages you. But I feel like I have to to really make my eyes noticeable. My other big struggle is with liner. I can not do a wing to save my life. And I have hooded eyelids. Can you show us other eyeliner techniques besides a wing? Thank you so so much! xoxo 😘🙏🏻

Also, would you be willing to show us how you correct mistakes? I usually get mascara on top of my left eyelid after applying shadow. How do I get it off without smearing?

I am loving this series so much! I really appreciate the time you are taking to break everything down into such simple and comfortable steps. I really really need you to make a super detailed video on lips. I struggle hard with lip liner. I try to stay just inside my natural lip line but that is where I feel like I look like a clown! The part about the blush did help me a lot but it is definitely the lips that make me feel like a clown. If possible when you do the video on lips it would be so helpful to really get in close on the lip liner... lol. I feel like the border of my lips is thicker than a lot of people and I feel like that is part of the problem with doing my lips. But at the same time, I wonder if the way I feel about my lipstick is just because I rarely wear it and so don't really know if I look normal to others....lol... so many thoughts/fears/questions on lips for me. Help!!!!

Do you know when the next video will come out in this series? Last night i watched part 1 and 2. I cant wait to find out more on applying eyeshadow and mascara. I always have trouble with mascara. LOVE THIS SERIES. Also, love Efflortless Lips. Love your channel. I am another mature happy camper because of you. Great teacher. Thanks Allie ❤

    The beginning 😂
Question: Do the high end brushes really make a difference in application? Just wondering if they are really worth the splurge? I’m new to exploring makeup. I had been doing the same thing for like 20 years. I’m so grateful I found your channel for some guidance 🫶🏻
