    Soooo many memories of Osaka! I lived in Kagoshima and went often to visit friends and explore the city. I completely understand the nostalgia

    October, wow that's some backlog ^^ But it's always good to know the date for a video, good to compare if there's other videos of the same area and whatnot.

    I’ve been there before but we arrived on a Friday night and it was so crowded. I was with people from Hilo and we were not used to the swarm of people and felt so stressed out. We bought sushi and went back to the hotel. My other Island friends went on the boat ride but it was in Japanese and had no idea what they were saying. Our hotel was right close to the Geico man sign. Very convenient. I’d love to go back.

    I’m like you Sinichi I can’t eat anything piping hot!! I have a friend like Satoshi he would put a takoyaki whole while hot. I think he has asbestos mouth.

    Satoshi was very hungry you could tell.
    Satoshi looked like a fire breathing dragon with the steam from the tappoyaki

    Nobody can resist the takoyaki long enough to let it cool down. Everyone loses the skin off the roof of their mouths.😂😂😂

    I first went to Osaka in 2010 and have a picture of the kabuki building without the hotel on it. Times change.

      i found Tabi Eats before the pandemic, like 2017 or 2018 and i still love it. I have a passport, but it will never happen, so for me its the cheapest and best thing, and I enjoy their live streams (When i remember what day it is and what day they´re on)

    I was surprised to see trash on the ground. It looks like the US. Always see trash like little bits of paper in cities in the US. Maybe even in small towns too!

    I wish I wasn't so chicken when I see takoyaki stands. I know how hot it is and I avoid it because if I burn my mouth I won't be able to taste all the other good foods.
    I also don't eat ramen if it's too hot outside. Fortunately, it wasn't that hot in November when I went!

    You know what amazes me?, that the bicycles are not locked up on the streets when people go into restaurants and stores. In America I have to lock everything up. It use to be like that but not anymore. I miss those days😢😢😢
    I love seeing everything. I really want to do a 2-3 month stay in Japan but I don’t speak Japanese and I’m worried about cost of hotels.
    Any advice?

    • @mauison
      @mauison ปีที่แล้ว +2

      English is spoken in the touristy areas but as you get into the more rural areas, less English is spoken. I've been to Japan twice and the only place where we had difficulty conversing was with the hotel staff in Toyota City. The cost of hotels might add up during a 2-3 month stay so maybe also look into Airbnb or Vrbo.

    I worked in nearby Itami for a year in the 1990s and made the trip into company HQs once a week near there. This is very nostalgic. Osaka culture is awesome. Sorry Satoshi Kansai > Kanto

    Another great video Shinichi and Satoshi! This is the very first video I have seen in all the years I have been following you that I really noticed a fair amount of litter and trash on the grounds! Is it because it is a heavy tourist area?? The streets are usually soo clean and well taken care of! That being said it is still better than a lot of city streets in Canada. Thank you again for letting us share in your adventures.

    • @Shinichisworld
      @Shinichisworld  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes the Dotombori area does have more litter as it’s the most touristy area in Osaka. It does get cleaned up every night after businesses close so it’ll be clean in the morning!

    I've tried Takoyaki (and Natto) for the first time two weeks ago in Düsseldorf (Germany), where a lot of japanese people live. It was sooo delicious (yes, Natto too) but I got a burn blister thanks to the hot Takoyaki. :D

    Ah yes, Takoyaki in Osaka... it's always the first thing I try whenever I get there, and I always, without fail, horribly burn my mouth on their molten lava liquid batter interior. No amount of blowing on them and waiting seems to work. Then for the next couple of days I taste basically nothing while I stay in the food mecca that is Osaka, and then it's off to the next location on the round trip as my taste receptors slowly recover... last time i tried the Yuzu sauce and Negi ones at the canal side.

    I always get Takoyaki in the Asian Grocery store. I have had it fresh in Thailand but Osaka probably does it best!
