The U.S. men’s 1,500 Olympic Trials is going to be exciting. Lot of young guns: Yared, Cole Hocker, Cooper Teare, Hobbs Kessler, the University of Washington duo, and the new kid, Simeon Birnbaum.
Birnbaum is the youngest but gives off serious Steve Prefontaine vibes. He and Cole Hocker both are that way.

How does Cole give Prefontaine vibes? I'm a big fan of his, but he is not a frontrunner. So basically because he has long hair?

He seems like a really nice young man. Best of luck to him.

Look for Hobbs to make a tough American 1500m team with a shot at final & an early dark horse for a medal…real dark horse but possible.

Yared is the class of the field. But it felt like Cooper Teare, Cole Hocker, and Hobbs Kessler each ended the year with “Yes. I can do this!” Meaning, they didn’t achieve what they wanted but each had major breakthroughs getting over injuries, figuring out how to train, who to train with, racing tactics, etc.
The Oregon freshman Simeon Birnbaum is someone to pay attention to. He races with ferocity like Cole Hocker.
