It was 1971. I was 10 yrs old. My newly married brother invited me to spend week w him and his new wife. I was infatuated w his record player. I listened to Glen Campbell and Bee Gees for hours. Hooked for life.
I was there, this was my church, and I still miss it every day. Pastor Jackson preached the gospel and gave an invitation every service. Thousands of people were saved right there at that alter. I'll see my brother Glen in Heaven.
Amen! Want it be great when we see Jesus! I'm so glad that Glen returned to his "first love". I believe it's the Church in Phoenix. What denomination, anyone who sees this and know? TY
A beautiful tenor voice. It’s almost like different identities he had at various stages of his life, but always full of soul and such a gifted man who was so loveable. The public “consumed” him all his life.
To b fair, something went to his head for a period of time -- he was a major cocaine addict and alcoholic for a period of time in the 80s. When Tanya Tucker commented on her time during that period with him, stating he was sexually insatiable. However, he did clean up and become sober --just a few years before this, I believe.
@@danc3693 This is well known and Glen himself speaks about this period in his life honestly and humbly. BJane58 is speaking about his fame...and she is absolutely correct. Glen was loved by his colleagues and family. He was an incredibly kind and humble man. He passed away a very wealthy man and was extremely generous with his money. How eerie I find this, after Carrie Underwood sung this on the CMA Awards during the In Memoriam segment, which of course Mr. Campbell was honored. Carrie did a marvelous job.
Eduardo e Fátima. É uma música folclórica irlandesa. Amo as músicas dele, como country pop, rock, folk, gospel. Beleza e talento reunidos em Glenn Campbell. Deixou saudades. Descanse em paz. 🌷🙏 🇧🇷🇺🇲👍👏👏👏👏
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling Calling for you and for me See all the portholes He's waiting and watching Watching for you and for me Come home, come home You who are weary come home Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling Calling all sinners, come home. All for the wonderful love he has promised Promised for you and for me Through all our suffering He has mercy and pardon Pardon for you and for me Come home, come home You who are weary come home Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling Calling all sinners, come home.
But, he didn't stay clean, unfortunately. Studies say alcoholism may put you at a heightened risk for Alzheimer's. I have to wonder if he'd stayed like he is in this video if he'd still be healthy and with us... I loved him...
Yes. It is interesting how the incredibly wealthy celebrity singers, actors, songwriters, and all of the rest of us of whom came from nothing, had our glitz of fame and fortune, etc. And now we kinda sing, we talk via lyrics, we now talk of what could have been after all the celebrity status and glitz that recalled and took-over time in our lives when we were able to simply able to go to the local grocery store and just be quiet with our family.

I was really moved by Glen's performance and shed a tear, I'm not ashamed to say.

The wonderful golden voice of the great Glenn Campbell (Rest In Peace Glenn)

The hymn that was being sung in my church when I was 10 years old that caused me to respond to the altar call.
How someone with his kind of amazing talent remained so sweet and kind, I will never know. Nothing ever went to his head. I miss him.

The first I’ve seen great emotion show so strongly. It was touching his heart as he sang.beautiful.
Glen’s hymms are sung from the heart
We will be using this as our congregation's "Prayer of Confession" for August 24, 2019
Glen, my favorite of all time.

Yes. And Mr. Cambell got clean and was able to walk away from alcohol and other stuff. It is not all about mythology and stuff to get clean folks!
